Briefly Commemorative coins THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has announced that three new limited edition commemorative circulation coins will be available starting today, Dec. 22, 2014. The new coins commemorate the following: 1. The Bagong Bayani Commemorative Coin in honor of Overseas Filipinos on the 5-piso circulating coin; 2. The 150th year of Philippine Hero Apolinario Mabini on the 10-piso circulating coin; and 3. The Leyte Landing which was a turning point for the liberation of the Philippines during World War II on the 5-piso circulating coin As a matter of policy, the BSP commemorates significant events and heroic Filipinos in our country’s history through the minting of coins, medals or overprints on our banknotes.

Tax collection TANDAG City – Despite admitting difficulty hitting the periodic monthly collection target for 2014 tax goal in Surigao del Sur, which is already seen to yield a deficit, Monib Dimakuta, Revenue District Office 106 (RDO 106) chief of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) here said that they still have something to be proud of—surpassing the tax goal set for last year. With a couple of days more left to fill in the collection gap, the BIR chief stressed that they can still manage to collect some more as the year end comes to a close. Meanwhile, Dimakuta claimed that as of November 25, 2014, during the holding of the 11th Regional Staff Conference at BIR Regional Training Center in Butuan City, his office has posted a cumulative under-collection of P51,621,412.89 or equivalent to -8.41 percent for the period starting from January – October 2014.

Telco firm extends link-up to MisOr By Philippine News Agency

LANDLINE users in Misamis Oriental can now link up calls to Globelines subscribers without additional long distance charges. This after the Ayalaled Globe Telecom Inc. on has announced that its interconnection reach has further extended to the province since December 11, this year. The deal enables Globe’s landline service company Globelines to interconnect with its telco counterpart, the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT). In a statement, Globe said the collaboration allows customers of telco providers in the province to call each other without additional charges.

The activation brings to 27 the number of areas or provinces where Globe has established interconnection arrangement with competition. Power firm cites hindrances in serving Samal island

DAVAO City -- Power firm, Davao Light and Power Company cited several reasons for not serving the consumers of the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte. Art Milan, vice president for operations of

Davao Light said IGACOS is outside the franchisearea of the power firm. He explained that its franchise is held by the Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative. “We cannot take over Samal unless DANECO

will agree our entry,” Milan said. He also said that the legal squabble within the DANECO also hampers the negotiation for Davao Light to serve the area. Milan said the issue is currently deliberated in the Court of Appeals. “Not until that the legal conflict will be resolved, IGACOS cannot do anything, because we do not know who among the two will be the legitimate entity whom we need to negotiate,” he said. Milan said Davao Light

wants to be safe. He said they will wait until the court decides accordingly. Milan said it is a public clamor that IGACOS will be served by the Davao Light. He said the lo cal government had issued a resolution for them to take over the area, given the long problem on the low supply of electricity. “We receive a letter from the mayor with a supporting resolution from the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Samal.

She took with her 40 pints of blood in case she needed emergency surgery. She brought her own hairdresser, 2 drivers, and many other servants. The queen’s brief visit to America cost 20 million U.S. dollars! C omp a re t h at roy a l entrance to God’s visit to earth. Jesus Christ entered the world in a small animal shed. The newborn King of the world slept in a feed trough for animals. Jesus’ mother, Mary, was just a 14-15 year old teenage girl who was not married when she became pregnant with Jesus. It was an embarrassing scandal. In fact, if this happened to a teenage girl like Mary today, there is a strong chance Jesus would have been aborted. And Jesus’ hometown was a poor, low-class area. Yet God chose to come like this to show us that even with all the unfair, bad things in life that happen to us, with Jesus in charge of

Gu e r re ro e t a l. explain Haring Bayan ng Kat ag a lu g an’s p ol it i c a l structure. Because of the exigencies of war, the government had to be organized as a military government. Power in the government structure was concentrated on the generals and key officers in the revolutionary army. The Katipunan was suborganized into Sanggunian Bayans or municipal governments. In turn, the latter were further subdivided into Sangguniang Balangays or district or barangay sections. Not surprisingly, there were no civilian functionaries in the government because the civilians themselves became military officials. The Spanish military writer Federico de Monteverde gives details on the military organization instituted by Bonifacio. In De Monteverde’s work, different insignias corresponding to each rank such as minister, colonel, brigadier general, major general, lieutenant general and captain general, worn by Katipunan officers, are fully illustrated. In an order defining the Katipunan militar y organization, each battalion called “Katipon” composed of 203 men was drawn to include the hierarchy of officers as well as individual units in

the organization. Bonifacio supervised planning of military strategies as well as the preparation of orders, manifestos and decrees, adjudicate offenses against the nation, as well as mediate political disputes. It was in the interest of mediating the widening rift between the Magdalo and Magdiwang factions, that Bonifacio proceeded to Cavite. The Archivo General Militar de Madrid (AGMM for brevity), which Filipino historians were able to access only last year, provides some additional very convincing evidence of the workings of the Katipunan. Incidentally, the Katipunan documents were featured in Dr. Jim Richardson’s book “The Light of Liberty”. Historian Xiao Chua c o n s i d e r s t h e AG M M papers important because they showed that Katipunan actually had a centralized government. “The different letters, decrees and minutes from different chapters of the Katipunan and from Bonifacio himself prove that the Katipunan as an organization by 1896 was in itself working like a government.” (Emphasis supplied.) AGMM records further indicate that despite Bonifacio being in Cavite in early 1897, the chain of command from Bonifacio as Commander-in-Chief to the various Sangguniang Bayans was not broken. The government of the Pasig-based Northern District

led by Julio Nakpil (aka “Giliw”) and Emilio Jacinto (aka “Pingkian”) did not lose contact with Bonifacio and continued to receive orders from him. The Pasig Sanggunian c ont i nu e d t o p e r f or m gove r n me nt f u nc t i ons , signing birth and marriage certificates and going along with the business of the Katipunan. The Northern District had under its jurisdiction Katipunan local hukumans (chapters) in the provinces of Manila, Bulacan, Morong and Nueva Ecija. What do other historians say? Captain John Roger Meigs Taylor, an American military historian who compiled the documents seized from Philippine revolutionaries, (later known as Philippine Insurgent Records) had this to say about Bonifacio: “The Katipunan came out from the cover of secret designs, threw off the cloak of any other purpose, and stood openly for the independence of the Philippines. Bonifacio turned his lo dges into battalions, his grandmasters into captains, and the supreme council of the Katipunan into the insurgent government of the Philippines.” (Emphasis supplied.) Gregorio F. Zaide, who wrote a Histor y of the Katipunan, acknowledged Bonifacio’s revolutionary government: The Katipunan was more than a secret revolutionary society; it was, withal, a Government. It was the

intention of Bonifacio to have the Katipunan govern the whole Philippines after the overthrow of Spanish rule. (Emphasis supplied.) Even Teodoro Agoncillo conceded that: Immediately before the outbreak of the revolution, therefore, Bonifacio organized the Katipunan into a government revolving around a ‘cabinet’ composed of men of his confidence. (Emphasis supplied.) Foregoing considered, I can not but agree with the following conclusions of Dr. Guerrero et al. that: 1. Andres Bonifacio founded the Katipunan in 1892. 2. Bonifacio initiated and established the first national government in 1896. 3. After being dead and buried for 3 days, Jesus came back to life and proved that He is God the Son Who’s the Lord of life and death. This Christmas, Jesus Christ wants you to receive His supernatural peace and power, so you can succeed and handle whatever bad, unfair things happen to you. So why not ask Jesus to forgive you for living your own way, and decide to start living His way for the rest of your life? Just Think a Minute…

IFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: `The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel’…” (Matthew 1:2223, the Holy Bible). -ooo CHRISTMAS STORY: THE DIVORCE OF MARY & JOSEPH: Today, we will explore another Christmas story from the Bible, and that is the story of Joseph, the man who was engaged to be married to Mary. Joseph was a descendant of King David, a righteous person. When he found out that Mary was already pregnant even if they did not have any sexual relations yet, he planned on quietly leaving her. Yet, as he was thinking about this divorce, an angel of God appeared to him in a dream. The Bible did not mention the name of this angel, but I believe that it was the same angel, Gabriel, that visited Mary earlier, announcing to her that she was the virgin who had been prophesied to conceive and give birth to the Son who will be called “Almighty God, Everlasting Father”. Unlike the encounters of Mary and, earlier, of Zechariah, the father of John The Baptist, with the angel Gabriel where

the angel appeared while both Mary and Zechariah were wide awake, it is interesting to note that Joseph was not given this privilege, for the angel that appeared to him came to him while he was sleeping. -ooo ANGEL VISITED JOSEPH IN A DREAM: Indeed, this should give some reason for thinking among Christian believers. For while Zechariah met Gabriel face to face, at the moment that the birth of John The Baptist was announced, why was Joseph visited merely in a dream? Wasn’t the message to Joseph equally significant, if not more serious, than the message to Zechariah? Be that as it may, the angel who visited Joseph said this to him: “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Joseph must have been totally shocked. As an Israelite, I am sure he was aware of the prophecy made by Isaiah some 1,000 years earlier about a virgin conceiving and giving birth to a son who will be called by many names---Emmanuel (which

means “God is in us”) and, as we stated earlier, “Almighty God, Everlasting Father”, thereby confirming that the son to be born is God Himself. -ooo CHRISTMAS, A STORY OF OBEDIENCE, TOO: And Joseph must have realized by then that Mary was the “chosen virgin”, as it were. He must have wondered, the prophecy was playing out right before him, and that he must have profusely thanked God that he was made a part of God’s plan for the salvation of mankind. The command of the angel to him that he should name the son to be born “Jesus” confirmed that this son was God coming down from heaven and assuming human form, for “Jesus” meant “the Savior of His people”. In fact, the Bible was clear about this when it said “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son…” Joseph then decided to agree to what God had been doing and obey everything that was told him, so when he woke up from his dream, he took Mary home as his wife, although he did not consummate his marriage with her until after she gave birth to Jesus. However, in the record of the Respondent’s Office and in the National Statistics Office (NSO), there is another Certificate of Live Birth of the petitioner’s grandson under the name RAFAEL BALONDO ABDUL. That the existence of the second Certificate of Live Birth (Annex “B”) of said petitioner’s grandson in the office of the Local Civil Registrar of Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte has resulted to the obstacle and bar to his best interest. goes on until it becomes part of the system and ultimately becomes a way of life – a CULTURE. A culture of continuous improvement is one in which individuals are growing, learning and contributing to the overall goal. Schools, work environments, communities and families all have the potential to foster continual improvement. Through ongoing communication, information sharing, assessments and rewards, individuals and groups can progress towards personal and organizational goals. When CI becomes a culture in all educational systems, no doubt the country will produce graduates who are globa l ly competitive and strong nation builders. On the final thought, CI is not a destination, it is a journey.
