Briefly Commemorative coins THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has announced that three new limited edition commemorative circulation coins will be available starting today, Dec. 22, 2014. The new coins commemorate the following: 1. The Bagong Bayani Commemorative Coin in honor of Overseas Filipinos on the 5-piso circulating coin; 2. The 150th year of Philippine Hero Apolinario Mabini on the 10-piso circulating coin; and 3. The Leyte Landing which was a turning point for the liberation of the Philippines during World War II on the 5-piso circulating coin As a matter of policy, the BSP commemorates significant events and heroic Filipinos in our country’s history through the minting of coins, medals or overprints on our banknotes.
Tax collection TANDAG City – Despite admitting difficulty hitting the periodic monthly collection target for 2014 tax goal in Surigao del Sur, which is already seen to yield a deficit, Monib Dimakuta, Revenue District Office 106 (RDO 106) chief of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) here said that they still have something to be proud of—surpassing the tax goal set for last year. With a couple of days more left to fill in the collection gap, the BIR chief stressed that they can still manage to collect some more as the year end comes to a close. Meanwhile, Dimakuta claimed that as of November 25, 2014, during the holding of the 11th Regional Staff Conference at BIR Regional Training Center in Butuan City, his office has posted a cumulative under-collection of P51,621,412.89 or equivalent to -8.41 percent for the period starting from January – October 2014.

Telco firm extends link-up to MisOr By Philippine News Agency
LANDLINE users in Misamis Oriental can now link up calls to Globelines subscribers without additional long distance charges. This after the Ayalaled Globe Telecom Inc. on has announced that its interconnection reach has further extended to the province since December 11, this year. The deal enables Globe’s landline service company Globelines to interconnect with its telco counterpart, the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT). In a statement, Globe said the collaboration allows customers of telco providers in the province to call each other without additional charges.
The activation brings to 27 the number of areas or provinces where Globe has established interconnection arrangement with competition. Thes e are as include Metro Manila, Cavite, Iloilo, Capiz, Batangas, C ebu, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Bohol, Leyte, Davao City, Pampanga, Bulacan, Zamboanga, Laguna, Quezon, La Union, Nueva Ecija, and B enguet, GenSan/South Cotabato , Tarlac, Davao del Norte, and Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Zambales and TELCO/PAGE 9
