Slower production MANUFACTURING industry’s production volume and value slowed down in October this year, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported last week. Volume of production index (VoPi) for October this year declined by 6.5 percent, from a 9.9 percent growth in the same month in 2016. Likewise, value of production index (VaPi) went down by 6.3 percent in October 2017 from 4.5 percent growth last year. PSA data showed that production of chemical products significantly contributed to the decline of VoPi, which the sector fell by 61 percent last October.
Dialogue for devt THE Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) in coordination with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) conducted a dialogue with its development partners through a Regional Development Forum that seeks to get insights and support for its programs and projects. Atty. Laisa Alamia, ARMM Executive Secretary, said the forum served as venue to inform and to show to the development partners and stakeholders the milestones and accomplishments achieved by the regional government. “The 21 chapters of the ARMM Regional Development Plan (RDP) is anchored on the national long-term vision, a living document of the region’s vision for the Bangsamoro,” Alamia said.

HE maritime sector will activate next we e k it s “O p l an Bi y a h e n g Ay o s ! : Kapaskuhan 2017” to ensure the safety of the riding public during the Christmas season.
“Maritime personnel are expected to implement several safety measures and contingency plans, such as activating the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Passenger Assistance Counters, ensuring that all ships and other sea vessels are properly inspected, and all passengers, bags and cargoes are thoroughly inspected prior the boarding,” Transport Undersecretary for Maritime Felipe Judan said in a statement Friday. Palace declares Dec. 26, Jan. 2 as holidays DEC. 26 and Jan. 2, 2018 have been declared as additional holidays for government agencies under the Executive department through Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 37 signed by Executive Secretar y Salvador C. Medialdea on Dec. 13. In line with the Malacañang memo, Chief Ju s t i c e Mar i a L ou rd e s P.A. Sereno also issued an authorization suspending work in all courts nationwide during those two days. MC 37 said the work suspension is intended “to give the employees of the government full opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their families and loved ones.”
