Price monitoring THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) vows to strengthen its price monitoring in Mindanao as the 60-day price freeze under the declaration of martial law has expired. In a press briefing after a meeting of National Price Coordinating Council (NPCC) Tuesday, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said price freeze could not be extended to more than 60 days under the Price Act. This is despite extension of martial law in Mindanao until end of 2017. Lopez added that the NPCC would also not recommend setting price ceiling of goods in Mindanao, even as the government initially eyed to set one after the price freeze was lifted.
Agripreneurs DAVAO City -- The Department of Agriculture (DA), in partnership with Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE)Negosyo, has urged farmers in Davao Region to become agripreneurs through participation in a coaching and mentoring program for Agriculture, dubbed as Kapatid Agri Mentoring Program (KAMP) . GO-Negosyo, a pilot project of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), sealed its partnership with DA for this year’s KAMP implementation. Kapatid Mentor Me is a 12-week coaching session for micro and small entrepreneurs. Mentees for the program will be selected from farmers’ cooperatives by the respective officials of DA.

AVAO City -- The Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) reported a huge demand of infrastructure in Mindanao especially the construction and improvement of farm-to-market roads to help farmers market their products.
Sherwin Manual, the head of the Information Unit PRDP Mindanao, said many farmers in Mindanao are still facing difficulty on road access, using traditional mode of transporting their produce like using horses. Manual said that the country still needs to pave an estimated 1,700 kilometers road network. FISH FEEDING FRENZY.
