Briefly Fight vs poverty THE Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and several national government agencies will jointly implement anti-poverty programs in the region starting this month. In a recent cabinet meeting, President Rodrigo Duterte instructed the national office of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to lead the implementation of the anti-poverty programs in the ARMM and other conflictaffected areas found in Regions 9, 10 and 12. Officials from the ARMM and the TESDA held a consultative and action planning meeting on August 11 in Cotabato City to discuss the initial details of the programs and projects that will be implemented.

HE Pilipino Banana Growers and Exporters Association (PBGEA) has expressed desire to meet Environment Secretary Gina Lopez to inform her of the best practices of the big banana companies amid threats that she will ban aerial spraying if she finds out it causes suffering to the communities near plantations.

PBGEA executive director Stephen Antig said in an interview Tuesday that they are only waiting for the response of the environment chief on the letter he sent to

Golden crop DAVAO City will again host the Davao Agri-Trade Expo this year (DATE 2016) on Sept. 22 to 24 at the SMX Convention Center. The annual trade expo is now on its 18th year. “DATE is the biggest and longest-running trade expo and business event in Mindanao,” Tessie Pascual, vice president of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCCI). Pascual added that this year’s DATE will highlight the “golden crop” of Mindanao that includes cacao, corn, coconut, rice, coffee and cassava.
