Market eviction ABOUT 500 vendors in Cagayan De Oro City’s largest public market in Cagon here have been issued an ultimatum to pay the market dues or face eviction, Peter Abejuela of the City’s Economic Enterprise Division (CEED) said. Abejuela said the CEED) has already advised the vendors thrice in the past to pay the monthly arrears due the city government. “After giving the vendors enough time, it is time the CEED imposes the eviction to those who failed to pay the due,” Abujuela announced on a local radio station here. The notice of eviction would be issued anytime this week, he added.
Nonbank financing SMALLl and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs) in Asia, including the Philippines, need better access to finance to grow and generate badly needed new jobs for the region, says a new Asian Development Bank (ADB) report. “Most of Asia’s smaller firms are faced with difficulties in obtaining finance,” said Noritaka Akamatsu, deputy head of ADB’s Office of Regional Economic Integration, which produced the inaugural edition of “Asia SME Finance Monitor.” “SMEs need to be able to tap a wider range of nonbank financing options in addition to bank loans, including capital markets if they are to realize their potential,” he added.

DAVAO City -- In an effort to offset the company’s massive carbon footprint, AboitizPower Corporation has embarked on an ambitious rehabilitation program to reforest a 1,000-hectare land in Marilog District here in partnership with the Matigsalog tribe.
