Briefly Davao port TWO collection districts of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) have recorded a surplus in their April collection amounting to P12 million, the Bureau announced Friday. The BOC reported that the ports of Aparri and Davao hit their collection targets for this month, based on the preliminary figures from the Bureau’s Financial Service. “Port of Aparri, the first port to hit its target, collected P8 million against its P4 million monthly target. The port has a surplus of P5 million, 94% higher than its April target,” it said. “Port of Davao is the 2nd collection district of the Bureau of Customs to hit the collection target for April, collecting a surplus of P7 million,” the BOC added.

Bamboo processing CAMIGUIN -- To strengthen and further boost the income of the existing Bamboo Processing Facility in the province, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-10) here together with the Camiguin Chamber of Commerce and Industry are working on the commercialization of of the facility located at Camiguin School of Arts and Trades (CSAT) Campus, Lumad, Poblacion, Mambajao. During the project monitoring of the Regional Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council (RMSMEDC-10) held April 16, DTI Provincial Director Joselito Enot said that the initiative aims to address the absence of bamboo industry leaders in the area, limited private stakeholders, and low access to market opportunities. “The industry’s productivity is dismally minimal and insignificant in the overall economic standpoint. The farmers are still marginal and poorly organized,” Enot said.

THE Bureau of Customs in Northern Mindanao was able to garner P4.75 billion in collections during the first three months of this

year 2018. In an interview yesterday, Customs district collector Jamail Marohoms alic reported that it is an increase
