ut of 86 Earth ambassadresses from around the globe, Miss Earth Philippines and Miss MyPhone Awardee Jamie Herrell was crowned as the Miss Earth 2014 last November 29, at the U.P. Theater, Diliman, Quezon City.

The Pageant, which is known to be the most

prestigious and relevant beauty pageant in the world, had been working hand-in-hand with MyPhone in promoting the protection of Mother Earth for years now.

Never underestimate yourself!

There is a tendency that we look down and do not believe in our own capabilities. Some say it is humility but I say it is the lack of confidence.

Just remember the it is God who has given you the ability to produce wealth. If God is for us who can be against us. This is what we call as NEGATIVE SELF-TALK. You cannot meditate on a negative thought and expect a positive output.

IT was a festive mood yesterday afternoon at Apple Tree Resort and Hotel lighted up its lobby complete with a 15-foot Christmas tree.

But it was not just the decorated receiving area which captured the moment but the delightful presence of more than a dozen kids from Children’s Joy Foundation.

The choir of Children’s Joy Foundation were the celebrities during the revelry where they sang a medley of Yuletide melodies two hours before the countdown to the Christmas lighting.

The Davao-based Children’s Joy Foundation has a huge number of beneficiaries in Cagayan de Oro where 1,200 fulltime scholars are currently enrolled and 113 children and youth are sheltered in their Bulua center.

Because of their presence, no less than the Star Patrol segment of the local Northern Mindanao edition of TV Patrol covered the event live during

their 5:00 p.m. newscast yesterday.

Regional Star Patroller Greanne Trisha Mendoza brought the television audience live to the actual Christmas lighting.

Prior to the lighting, hotel staff ranging from the food and beverage department to housekeeping staff rendered dance numbers to the delight of the audience which include Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (COHARA) members.

Cocktails were also served on hand like the yummy chicken fingers with teriyaki sauce, chocolate brownies, sweetened sticky rice with mango puree, cassava roll, vegetable fried lumpia among others coupled with a choice of lemongrass juice or house blend iced tea.

Expect more exciting things to come this Yuletide season only at Apple Tree Resort and Hotel conveniently located along the beach in Opol, Misamis Oriental.

Some strange couplings here and there

FOR the past week alone, I have brushed past three women here in CDO who are untangled from their husbands. One is a salon owner, the second is a medical equipment sales rep, the third is a court interpreter. All three are young and still curvaceous which left me thinking and I’d like to type this the Sex and the City way ala each episode beginning, “What the heck happened?”

To blast off this column edition, I’d like to key in a disclaimer: I am estranged from my wife myself but this can’t stop me to yap something that I have observed. In my day-to-day

observations about life in CDO especially among married persons or those who are in a “live-in” relationship or even those who are in their bf-gf stage, the beginning of a relationship destruction starts from a very minor scratch – flirting.

Satan is a keen tempter and he tempts us in very disguising ways. Flirting begins as a harmless fun or even an innocent behavior. Confiding in the opposite gender is another form of suggestive or even innocent flirting.
