Oro Integrated Cooperative (OIC) Awarded as one of the Most Outstanding Cooperatives in the Philippines for the 3rd consecutive year. By: EUGENE G. BALANE
“It’s not the reward that matters or the recognition you might harvest. It’s your depth of commitment, your quality of service, the product of your devotion - these are the things that count in life. When you give purely, the honor comes in the giving, and that honor is enough.” ―Scott O'Grady
Service and commitment to its members is what drives Oro Integrated Cooperative (OIC) more than the awards and recognitions. OIC feels that it still has so much more to do for the community in terms of social programs and the improvement of its members’ welfare. Its ultimate goal is to alleviate the plight of the people in the community by
providing products and programs such as enterprise development, technical support, financial assistance, creating wealth and opportunities. OIC, one of the most trusted primary cooperatives in Cagayan de Oro City accepts that it cannot provide the whole answer to poverty and economic injustice but works hard to be part of the solution. Its diverse programs are geared to address the many dimensions of human development and can help spur both economic and social growth to its members as well as to the community where it serves. Its efforts were recognized on October 16, 2014 when Oro Integrated Cooperative (OIC) was again chosen by the Cooperative Development Authority
as one of The Most Outstanding Cooperatives in the Philippines – Large Scale Category for the third time in three consecutive years during the Gawad Parangal Awards. OIC Chief Executive Officer, Floriano R. Hilot, stressed that passion to serve and not worldly success and accolades serves as the guiding principle of the institution. Through good governance and sound fiscal management, OIC has been able to strike an equitable balance between providing quality service and implementing significant social projects and environmental programs. OIC also received the Gawad Parangal Special Citation for its EXEMPLARY ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND CONSERVATION PROGRAM, through its
“Tree Growing and Nurturing Project”. The project enabled the planting of more than 5,000 mangove trees in Gingoog City and El Salvador City. The endeavor is being undertaken in partnership with the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO). The continued patronage of its members, the unwavering support of the Board of Directors and the collective efforts of management inspires OIC to think of new innovative programs that will create more opportunities to its stakeholders and the community for generations to come. The award was given during the 12th National Cooperative Summit held in Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City.
