Laguindingan Airport ready for night flights
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The Department of Transportation and Communications and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) have announce the readiness of Laguindingan Airport for night operation strting this month. Laguindingan Airport is now equipped for night landing operations and will soon activate evening flights by the end of November to give the public more flight options as well as to decongest the airport during the day. This was announced by Transportation and Communications Secretary Jun Abaya said in a statement released earlier. The opening of Laguindingan night flights is considered a major gateway to Northern Mindanao, allowing for expanded air travel to the cities of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro, as well as the provinces of Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte. CAAP said all the air navigation and airfield ground lighting systems at the airport were already installed and tested. In line with certain policies and procedures of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and CAAP, officials from DOTC and CAAP are conducting a joint inspection this week for safety purposes to double-check the night system. DILG 10 to conduct prov’l orientations, workshops for LPRAT Members CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The Department of the Interior and Local Goverment in Region 10 (DILG10) spearheads a series of Local Poverty Reduction Action Team (LPRAT) Orientations within the month of November, this year. DILG-10 Regional Director Rene Burdeous said the issuance of DBMDILG-DSWD-NAPC Joint Memorandum Circular No. 5 calls for the need to orient LPRAT members on the new policies and guidelines. Joint Memorandum Circular No. 5 contains the Policy Guidelines and Procedures in the Imple-
mentation of the Grassroots Participatory Budgeting Process (formerly called Bottom-Up Budgeting) for the preparation of the FY 2016 Budget and Succeeding Years). Atty. Burdeos said the DILG 10 finds significance in ensuring proper compliance to policy guidelines and procedures under JMC 5 to result in an efficient and successful implementation of the GPB projects in all provinces in the region. The orientation workshops will tackle the Grassroots Participatory Budgeting Process which will include its rationale and
guidelines, the tools for the Local Poverty Reduction Action Plan (LPRAP) and the Menu of Programs for GPBP including technical requirements for projects by participating agencies. The first batch of the orientation-workshop was held on November 6-7, 2014, for the Province of Bukidnon.
