New minimum wage hike takes effect December 1 D Volume III, No. 154

AVAO City - Labor and Employment director Atty. Jeoffrey Suyao of Davao Region announced the effectivity of the P5 cost of living allowance for all minimumwage workers on December 1, 2014.

He said the new Cola is part of the second tranche of minimum wage adjustment due to the implementation of the Wage Order No. 18 in June 1 raising the pay to P312 for nonagriculture, and P302 for the agriculture sector, P312 for service or retail merchandise employing ten or more workers and P281 for those employing less that ten workers. Suyao said the new cola

adjustment will adjust the pay to P317 per day for non-agricultural sector, P307 per day for the agricultural sector, service or retail industries employing ten or more workers at P317 and P286 for those employing less than ten employees. “I urge the employers to implement the new wage adjustment that will serve as our Christmas gift to our workers,” he said. Tigerair Philippines add Gensan to network

Tigerair Philippines adds a new domestic destination. It will launch direct flights from Manila to General Santos starting November 28, 2014. The airline’s General Santos service will depart from Manila at 12:30 pm every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday and arrive in General Santos at 02:20 pm. Every Monday, the flight departs from Manila at 2:00 pm and arrive in General Santos at 3:50 pm. Every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, the return flight will depart from General Santos at 3:00 pm and will land in Manila at 4:50 pm whereas, on Mondays it will depart General Santos at 4:30 pm and arrive in Manila at 6:20 pm and on Thursdays, it will

depart General Santos at 3:10 pm and arrive in Manila at 5:00 pm. The new flight will utilize an Airbus A320 aircraft. The lowest year-round fare for Manila-Roxas and vice versa start at P2,008. General Santos is dubbed as the “Tuna Capital of the Philippines.” It is also famous for its export quality products such as tropical fruits and copra.
