Briefly Airport authority DAVAO City -- The city council has endorsed the call for the creation of a government-run airport authority independent of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to manage the Davao international airport. As early as two years ago, the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry proposed the creation of such an agency. The renewed call by the business chamber was contained in a letter from its president, Daniel O. Lim, to Vice-Mayor Paolo Z. Duterte, urging the city council to pass a resolution to support a bill on the proposal, filed by the city’s Rep. Mylene G. Albano (2nd district). The law, if passed, would create an autonomous airport authority to control, manage and supervise the Davao airport and other similar facilities within the region, including the abandoned airport in Mati City, Davao Oriental.
