Some 620,000 jobs (38.4% increase) were created in July 2013 from 448,000 net employment a year ago. The growth in the Agricultural sector was also recognized with 1.5% increase in the employment. “Agriculture and forestry subsector was able to generate 116,000 additional employment, while the fishing subsector gained 57,000 more workers. This expansion is attributable to the increased planting and harvesting activities, as well as more favorable weather conditions in some regions,” Balisacan said.

IMEM’s web to hasten spot market operation

HE National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) is fast-tracking the development of the Interim Mindanao Electricity Market (IMEM) website to help grid customers in the energy market’s operation in two weeks time.

NGCP spokesperson Atty. Cynthia Perez-Alabanza, in a statement, said the website, http://imem.ngcp. ph, will be used to upload and download generators’ and load customers’ capacity nomination data a nd schedules for the use of all players in the electricity market in Mindanao. This is in support of the government’s efforts to deliver sustainable solutions

to stabilize the Mindanao power situation, Alabanza said. In its Depa r t ment Ci rc u l a r No. D C 2 013 01-0001 dated January 9, 2013, the Department of Energy (DOE) ordered the Philippine Electricity Market Corporation (PEMC) to develop and implement an interim electricity market specifically designed for the IMEM/PAGE B11

MISAMIS Oriental -- The province of Misamis Oriental would vigorously push for the development of its tourism potential to win back the confidence of tourists and investors in the province, Governor Yevgency Vincente Emano said on Monday. Emano said the bomb explosion in the province’s

capital city of Cagayan de Oro City last July 26 that killed eight people, including a provincial board member, has affected tourist arrivals and investment potentials in the province. “In order to get rid of the temporary downfall, our only recourse is to move forward,” Emano told the Philippines
