Briefly Old PUJs phaseout STARTING end of October this year, old passenger jitneys, taxis, vans and buses used for public transport in Northern Mindanao would be phased out, the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board said Thursday. LTFRB Regional Director Mandangan Darimbang said the franchises of public utility vehicles that are more than 15 years old would no longer be renewed as the LFTRB started to phase out the old taxis, buses, and vans. H e s a i d t h e LT F R B has star ted checking the franchises and models of public utility transport, especially if these vehicles were acquired more than 15 years ago.

The 16th Congress opened Monday with a State of the Nation Address (SONA) by President Benigno Aquino III. The proposed P2.268trillion National Budget for 2014 is 13.1 percent higher than this year’s P2.006-trillion program, a statement from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said. “ We intend to channel more investments into infrastructure development and other public services that are pivotal to our pursuit of rapid, sustained and inclusive growth,” Abad said.

showing increased economic performance that contributed to the better-than-expected national growth of 6.6 % in 2012. Data showed the region posted a 7.4% growth in 2012, higher than the 5.8% registered in the previous normin/PAGE 11

THE Department of Health Regional Office 10 (DOH-10) is set to launch its advocacy campaign Pilipinas Go4Health on August 16, 2013, which will kick-off the continuous programs of the department. With the tagline “We’re bringing Pinoys together to take action for health,” Pilipinas Go4Health is an advocacy and health promotion campaign of DOH and its partners that aims to inform and encourage Filipinos to practice a healthy lifestyle by making a personal commitment to physical activity, proper nutrition, and the prevention or cessation of smoking and launch/PAGE 11
