RI District 3870 governor addresses Zone 1 clubs

NEWLY installed Rotary International District 3870 Governor Miriam Ruth dela Calzada will address all Zone 1 clubs this Sunday at Pryce Plaza Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.

Banking on Rotary’s call of serving humanity, the Council of Presidents of RI District 3870 Zone 1 cordially invite all Rotarians and Rotaractors belonging to Zone 1 clubs for the Governor’s Address at 6:30 p.m. on that day at the Ballroom of the hotel.

Give more, speakers exhort Rotarians in Seamless Seminar

GIVING more was the overall message of the Rotary International District 3870 ably attended by hundreds of members from the various clubs of the district last August 6 at Grand Caprice Restaurant in Cagayan de Oro City.

RRFC Jess Nicdao disclosed that the people of Nepal sent their message of gratitude to Rotary International District 3870 after they were able to build shelters using the thousands of dollars donated by the district in the aftermath of the April 2015 earthquake that hit the country.

Along with the planting of mangrove propagules was the distribution of more than two hundred laton containers which benefited more than a hundred beneficiaries of the barangay for containing potable water and daily water usage of the residents.

The Club planted more than two hundred mangrove propagules while RCCV planted around eight hundred propagules, one hundred propagules planted by RC West under the leadership of President Celso Balat and the rest were left for planting by the residents and the Barangay Council of Baybay. Joining also for support, camaraderie and fellowship were President Xelors Rola of RC Metro and President Teng Sazon 11 of the Rotary Club of Bay Area with IPP Cesar Bandila.

an interview with the fisher folks of Barangay Baybay told Business Week Mindanao that Mangrove trees growing along the shores help the laying of eggs and spawning of school of fishes like bangus, other fish species and prawns and when hatched become thousands and thousands of fingerlings for the fisher folks to catch and sell to the different bangus and prawn fishpond farms in Misamis Oriental.

Mangrove upward roots around its base help the ecological balance system of nature for eggs to be hatched to fingerlings.

These mangroves thus become a habitat of the thousands and thousands even millions of fingerlings of bangus, prawns and other kind of specie along the shoreline of Loquilo down to the shores of Laguindingan.

At 165 years and counting, Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) - the country’s first bank - continues to notch many “firsts” in the banking and financial industry.

Originally named Banco Espanol de Isabel II ( after Spain’s then reigning monarch), BPI was established in August 1, 1851, by the Junta de Autoridades. The Junta was a Manila-based committee of civil and ecclesiastical officials, which was created in 1828 by royal decree of King Ferdinand VII. The bank’s original capital was provided by Obras Pias – which handled charitable contributions to the Catholic Church. Among the original stockholders was prominent businessman Antonio de Ayala, forebear of current BPI Chair Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala.

During simple rites commemmorating the bank’s 165th anniversary earlier this month, Cezar P. Consing, BPI President, described the bank’s evolution and growth, as follows: “The Church was the dominant shareholder until 1968, when Ayala became the bank’s largest shareholder. Some of the best names in global finance have been BPI shareholders: J.P. Morgan, taking a 20% stake in 1974, DBS buying J.P. Morgan’s stake in 1999, and

-oooSPECIAL PARENTAL AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY OF TEACHERS: The seminar on Friday, August 19, 2016, was already the third of the four Fridayseminars for the month August 2016 by Rotary, and it centered on the provisions of the Family Code of the Philippines about the special parental authority granted to teachers, administrators, and to the school where they are employed.

2015, BPI had another good year. The numbers showed significant improvements across all metrics, eg., total assets, loans , deposits, asset yields, assets under management, capital adequacy and market capitalization.

Particularly impressive was BPI’s CASA ratio – a barometer of client loyalty and cost competitiveness – which is now the highest among peer institutions.

In addition, BPI continued to engage the community in several fronts.

-BPI Foundation directly engaged and advanced financial wellness, financial inclusion, financial literacy and sustainable development.

-The BPI-DOST Science Awards continued to provide the country’s brightest students a platform for presenting and implementing science and techonlogy-based business concepts.

-BPI Sinag continued to empower young Filipino entrepreneurs via a complete program of social entrepreneurship boot camp, mentorship and access to incubation financing.

Here is a part of the lecture delivered by my wife: Article 218 of the Family Code provides that teachers, administrators, and the school where they are employed or are teaching are given parental authority and responsibility over their students. Note must be made that it is not just authority that is granted to teachers and administrators, and their school.

More importantly, they are simultaneously given responsibility over the actions or behavior or conduct of the students under their supervision, instruction, or custody. This authority and responsibility shall apply to all authorized activities, whether inside or outside the premises of the school, entity or institution.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, August 17 – With the aim to provide attention to persons with mental illness in Cagayan de Oro city, the JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH) will launch the Telepsychiatry on August 23.

The Telepsychiatry is one

of the priorities of the city government implemented through Dr. Ramon Nery, JRBGH chief executive officer, and the heads of the hospital so the city will have its own way to help those mentally-ill persons who became nomads.

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur -- In a bid to address the adverse impacts of solid waste to health and eco-tourism, the city government of Marawi is calling all residents in the city to get involved in the on-going clean-up drive.

The intensified cleaning activity dubbed “Limpiyo a Marawi: Pantag ka, Limpiyo Inga” (Malinis na Marawi: Tapat Mo, Linis Mo) is launched to stir-up the value of having a clean environment.

It also aims to encourage residents to maintain cleanliness in their respective areas.

The clean-up drive also included the clearing and declogging of canals, cutting of grasses, and removal of unnecessary tarpaulins in the 96 barangays of the city.

Government offices, schools and private establishments are urged to join the cleanliness campaign by keeping their areas clean and clutter-free. (APB/PIA-10)

The Telepsychiatry is a way to provide psychiatric assessment and attention through telecommunications and video conferencing. Obtaining such will

only means that the city no longer needs to send the patients to other cities to have them checked by the doctors since this could already be done through

video conferencing.

The launching of Telepsychiatry is one of the activities of the 53rd anniversary celebration of the JRBGH on August 25.
