Drug pusher slain in Agusan Sur shootout BUTUAN CITY -- A drug suspect in a southern city here in the region was killed on Tuesday afternoon after he opted to fight it out with authorities carrying out a search warrant in his residence.

Agusan del Sur Police reported to the regional police headquarters here that the fatality was identified as Jose N. Garbo, Jr. a.k.a.

“Jun Garbo”, 51; a resident of Brgy. Salvacion, Bayugan City.

The same report also stated that Garbo was included in Bayugan City’s illegal drugs watchlist. He was one of the subjects of “Oplan Tokhang” but did not surrender to the authorities.

The shootout happened accordingly around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, when the personnel from the Bayugan City Police Station implemented the search warrant to the subject’s residence for possible violation of the Comprehensive Drugs Act. As the team was about to enter his house, the suspect accordingly fired his Caliber .38 revolver forcing the cops to fire back.

PANAWAGTAWAG. The communities of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, recently performed the “panawagtawag” to bless their efforts in building the first ever Municipal Tribal Hall to be built in Brgy. Poblacion costing Php1,294,517. The practice of “panawagtawag” or the imploring of the spirits of nature for guidance and blessing is a long-time tradition of the Manobo lumads of Caraga. GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) has promoted some 1,072 commissioned and non-commissioned police personnel in Region 12 to higher ranks.

Chief Supt. Cedrick Train, Region 12 police director, said the PNP central office approved the promotion of the concerned personnel following a comprehensive evaluation based on their qualification standards.

The newly-promoted police personnel were formally donned with their new ranks in a ceremony held at the SM City Trade Hall here on Wednesday.

“They were mainly promoted based on their competence and accomplishments,” the police official said.

Indeed, the periods of July was meant for Go, Glow, and Grow foods. Last July 29, 2016, the Labuagon E/S celebrated the Nutrition Month with the theme” First 1000 days ni baby, pahalagahan para sa kinabukasan”.

The venue took place in the ground of the Labuagon E/S. The said event was facilitated by Mrs. Nilda C. Jose, the program co-

ordinator and at the same time the school health and nutrition school coordinator. Different presentations was offered.

The pupils of different grade level showcased their talents like dancing, giving a poem and creative display of drawing which they used as their head-dresses during the presentations. The pupils and their advisers arranged & creatively displayed their freshly

picked fruits and vegetables. Mr. Roger M. Zafra, the school principal act as the chairman of the board of judges, roamed around to rate and gave a ruling on their display. Everything was displayed creatively.

Then, the winner was announced immediately.

In the noontime, the highlight of the activity took place, the cookfest time. Many wet-watering, healthy & delicious dishes was cooked by the active parents who helped the teachers and passionately fed their

children with love and care.

Thus, The Nutrition Month Celebration successfully ended together with the active pupils and parents who never failed to extend helped to the teachers. It was the happiest and most memorable celebration.

That said marriage did not last long due to lack of love and affection until the relationship manifested incompatibility and sustained misunderstanding between petitioners and reached the point of irreconcilability and they separated from each other for more than two (2) years already,they decided to separate live physically in bed and board thereby, executed Memorandum of Agreement in order to formalize their separation.

Since their separation, they had never been communicating or supporting either financially or emotionally to each other,neither minding each other affair’s; Petitioner’s seek judicial decree of divorce, thereby, severing their marriage bond on February 19, 1997, so that they will have free hand to do what a single man or woman could do without marital burdens. Reconciliation between them had already been diligently employed but all proved futile.

WHEREFORE, finding this petition to be sufficient in form and substance, set the initial hearing of this case on August 26, 2016 at 9:00 a.m at which time, date and place. Any interested party may appear and show why the petition should not be granted. Let copy of this Order be published in a news paper of General Circulation in the City of Iligan once a week for three (3) consecutive weeks at the expense of the petitioners.

Cebu Pacific Selects Rolls-Royce to Power Further A330 Aircraft August 10, 2016 – The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB) has ordered Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, with TotalCare® longterm engine services, to power its two new Airbus A330 aircraft.

CEB already operates six of the aircraft, all powered by the Trent 700.

The Trent 700 delivers the best fuel burn, emissions and noise performance, resulting in market leadership on the aircraft. The engine has won more than 70% of new orders over the last four years and accounts for a similar percentage on future A330 deliveries. More than 1,600 Trent 700s are now in service or on firm order.

Lance Gokongwei, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cebu Pacific said, “We have great experience of the Trent 700 in service and we look forward to its continuous delivery of outstanding economics and performance for our operations.”

Recently, the airline has placed a firm order with Airbus for two A330-300s.

PDIC to sell 169 assets via sealed bidding on August 25, 2016 The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC), through its Real & Other Properties Acquired (ROPA) Disposal Committee, is set to sell on an “as-is, where-is” basis 169 assets acquired by the Corporation and owned by closed banks with an aggregate minimum disposal value of PHP76.46 million through a sealed bidding on August 25, 2016.

Interested buyers may submit their bids to the ROPA Disposal Committee Secretariat at the 9th Floor, Training Room, SSS Building, 6782 Ayala Avenue, cor.

V.A. Rufino St., Makati City from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bids will be opened starting 2:00 p.m.

Up for bidding are 157 real properties located in Batangas, Benguet, Cagayan, Guimaras, Ilocos Sur, Iloilo, Isabela, Laguna, La Union, Leyte, Maguindanao, Metro Manila, Negros Oriental, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Quezon, Quirino, Southern Leyte and Tarlac. She said the committee exhausted all efforts to come up with a fair and just supplemental budget. “ ... That will enable us to continue addressing our city’s urgent needs while fulfilling our commitment to fiscal responsibility,” she cited.
