IMPASUG-ONG, Bukidnon --The military unleashed the “elite K-9 team” to track down the New People’s Army (NPA) responsible for the roadblocks along the highways here Sunday morning.

Capt. Norman Tagros, the spokesperson of the army’s 8th Infantry Battalion (8IB), said that the special tracking team is backed by the combined forces of the police and the military.

Tagros said that about 20 NPA rebels reportedly seized three police officers in a roadblock established along the Sayre Highway in Bukidnon about 6 a.m.

Sunday.

The police regional command identified the capture police personnel as SPO1 Warren Hansol Coñales, P03 Edwin Panis Castor, SPO4 Rene Rombo, PFC Glenn Austia and PFC Diven Abion Tawide.

Capt. Patrick Martinez, the spokesperson of the army’s 4th Infantry Division here, also confirmed the seizure of PFCs Glenn Austia and Diven Abion Tawide, all members of the 23rd Infantry Battalion in Agusan Del Norte.

40 farmers from at least four towns of North Cotabato who were arrested following a dispersal on April 1 that turned violent when farmers hurled stones toward law enforcers.

DX N D R a dyo Bi d a Kidapawan reported that Senior Supt. Alexander Tagum, North Cotabato police provincial director, led the filing of charges on Monday morning against 43 farmers.

Those charged were from Arakan, Antipas, President Roxas, and Magpet, all in North Cotabato who were earlier promised by rally organizers of sacks of rice.

The charges were filed before Regional Trial Court Branch 17 in Kidapawan City.

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista told DXND-Radyo Bida that he allowed the holding of protest rally last Monday by issuing one day permit.

Mendoza said the assembly was illegal and it became worst when the protesters barricaded portions of Cotabato-Davao highway, paralyzing commuters for several days.

“Not all protesting farmers were from Kidapawan, there were farmers from Bukidnon, Davao region and even Compostela Valley,” Mendoza said.

“We advised the farmers to return to their respective communities because the local government units, as front liners, were distributing rice to drought victims,” she said.

Obviously, the farmers did not heed Mendoza’s appeal and remained in the highway until Friday.

The dispersal turned violent when farmers and police clashed, stones were lobbed, guns were fired. When the smoke was cleared, two farmers were killed, more than 100 others were hurt, 90 of whom were police officers.

Two of the wounded police officers were in critical condition.

Mendoza said there were infiltrators from the left.

Rally organizers are preparing separate charges against Mendoza, Senior Supt. Tagum and other local executives for their alleged roles in the bloody dispersal.

The farmers charged Mendoza and others for multiple murder for the death of two farmers, serious physical injuries to protesters and human rights violations.

Organizers claimed rally participants rose to about 6,000 but police estimated the crowd at about 2,000 or less.

The highway has been cleared and motorists are now freely using the road network but farmers remained inside the Spottswood compound of the United Methodist Church where they sought shelter following the bloody dispersal.

The compound is still surrounded by police dispersal teams and armed police personnel to prevent “infiltrators” from further instigating the hungry farmers. (PNA)

Nothing to eat “The farmers are the backbone of the society because we produce the food we eat. But now, we are just bones. The farmers have nothing to eat,” said Crispin Sinugkit of the agri-workers’ group Ogyon based in Impasugong town. “The government says it could not release the calamity funds because of the election ban. Does it follow that we have to stop eating because of the elections?”

“The government has budget for bullets and its wars against its peoples,” said Benemerito. “But it doesn’t have enough funds to provide farmers with proper irrigation facilities to weather this kind of extreme condition. The story is familiar. The government has never provided any genuine support for us poor farmers. Instead of providing the structures we need to survive, the government encourages farmers to lease our lands to corporations.”

Send off The protest action also serves as a send off to the indigenous families––from sitios Balaudo, Kinuaw, Mapulo, Malaybalay City, and Cabanglasan--who have been holding camp in front of the provincial capitol grounds since January this year. “ They have decided to go home despite the continued presence of the criminals who killed their relatives and neighbors,” said Didin Landasan, chairperson of Pigyayungaan, the lumad organization in Malaybalay. “The weather is taxing on their health.

Although we try to look for ways the evacuees could eat three times a day, the food we are able to find here is not nutritious unlike the food they gather in their communities. Most if not all had already been hospitalized in the almost three months they had camped here.”

On one hand, the Lumad leaders held a ritual in the morning, offering a pig and two chickens, to seek guidance and help from the spirits for a safe journey home.

“The government officials mouth its care for their Lumad constituents but holds a gun in their hands,” s aid Jomor ito Goaynon, chairperson of Kalumbay Regional Lumad Organization. “The way they treat our communities is horrible, only aiding us if they see that they could gain from it. The Lumad families here will go home disappointing of this government which they could never call theirs. It kills

them – if not with bullets then with their neglect and lack of support.”

More coordinated actions ahead Benemerito said that the die-in protest on April 5 also signifies the start of the series of protest actions of farmers and indigenous communities of Bukidnon to press the local government in assisting the drought-affected communities “Thousands of Bukidnon farmers will troop to the streets on the coming days to push for government’s action. Poor farmers and Lumad communities cannot withstand now the hunger caused by El Nino,” Benemerito said.

25 families flee as grass, forest fires continue in Mt. Matutum GENERAL Santos City--At least 25 families in an upland village in Polomolok town in South Cotabato have evacuated due to the grass and forest fires in parts of Mt. Matutum.

Engr. Jonathan Pabulare, head of the Polomolok Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), said Tuesday residents in portions of Barangay Kinilis were forced to leave their homes as the raging fires continued to spread in the last several days.

He said the evacuees, who came from Puroks 7 and 8, are currently taking temporary shelter at the barangay hall grounds of Kinilis.

“They decided to evacuate mainly for safety reasons and most of them could

no longer stand the thick smoke and haze coming from the fires,” he said in a radio interview.

Pabulare said the local government has initially provided food and other relief items to the evacuees.

He said the provincial government has also delivered food packs through personnel from the Philippine Red Cross.

As of Tuesday morning, Pabulare said the fires already destroyed around 100 hectares of grass and forest areas in Barangay Kinilis, which is part of the 14,000-hectare Mt. Matutum Protected Landscape.

The first major fire in the area started last March 23 in Purok 7 and destroyed around 10 hectares of grass lands. mindanews.com

I am referring to the news that says Mar Roxas, the standard bearer of President Aquino, of the Liberal Party, and of the so-called “Righteous Path Coalition” in the forthcoming May elections, is the top candidate who won’t be voted upon by voters, according to the survey of the Social Weather Station (SWS) and Businessworld.

Why, big money had already been spent (and is continuing to be spent at present) for the campaign of Mar by Mar himself and his supporters, including Aquino and other big businessmen, and yet, it is earthshaking to know that he is still the most disliked candidate at this point that the May 9 elections is just a few days away.

This has brought great shame, most especially to President Aquino, in the

light of his hardcore endorsement of Mar which nevertheless appears to have been ignominiously set side by many voters. Well, this should put to waste and would even give a lie to survey results claiming that Aquino allegedly continues to enjoy high approval and popularity ratings at this point.

-oooNEWS ON ROXAS SURVEY: NEWSPAPERS HID IT? That notwithstanding, the bigger scandal here appears to be the outright “murder”, as it were, of the news about the results of the Roxas survey that was commissioned by SWS and

by Businessworld, perpetrated by almost newspapers around the country. The truth is that, the news was hardly carried by newspapers, even if it already went viral among radio programs the day before.

The question is: why was this news story (that Mar topped the choice of candidates who won’t be voted upon) “killed” and not published by almost all newspapers around the Philippines? Why was it reported only on radio?

The recently conducted two-day activity was made in partnership with the local government of Talacagon, Agusan del Sur through their Municipal Public Employment Service Officer Remigio I. Remedio and ATIKHA

Overseas Workers and Communities Initiative, Inc., a partner non-government organization.

Acknowledging the difficult life treaded by workers overseas, the seminar aims to re-instill the essential Filipino values especially towards family and relationships.

“Unlike what our society thinks, earning money overseas is not easy. Their hard work abroad should be repaid by taking care of what they send us here. We are very lucky that OWWA has constantly been giving

our municipality trainings that could help our OFW families build better lives,” shared PESO Manager Remedio during the opening program.

Cristy Mae Espejon, Community Organizer of ATIKHA, Inc. discussed Family and Income Management on the first day of the activity. Espejon emphasized the efficient management of family finances and practices on minimizing expenses through wise use of resources and the importance of saving and investment.

Meanwhile, Values Reorientation Seminar speaker Rosemarie R. Abadejos of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office addressed the individual characteristics and capabilities of each family member and their potential contribution in maintaining stronger family ties.

Reconciliation between them had already been diligently employed but all proved futile.

WHEREFORE, finding this petition to be sufficient in form and substance, set the initial hearing of this case on April 15, 2016 at 9:00 a.m at which time, date and place. During her stint in the PCZI in the last 10 years, Quisumbing said, the association garnered three national awards, and five Mindanao and Regional awards.

Engr. Grace M. Silla, owner and manager of Goldas Cakes and Pastries, said she did not practice her profession as chemical

engineer but she ventured into business by making cakes and pastries.

Silla said she took a short course in culinary arts in Cebu City to improve her skills.

Silla, who owns four bakeshops in the city, said her small business enabled her to send her three daughters through college.

“I was able to send my daughters in college and they are now professionals. My eldest daughter Jezzel Mica, is a resident doctor at the Philippine General Hospital, Gianne, my second daughter, is a teacher and entrepreneur, and my third, Goldah, is a graduate of Masters in Baking and Pastries in California and now working in Manhattan, New York,” she shared.

The main goal of school education is to develop the learners holistically. But it will only be possibly attainable if learners are exposed to healthy conditions and situations while learning.

In line with the aims of the Department of Education that ensures the health welfare of school- children, Mibantang Elementary School joins Deped in maintaining the proper nutrition of the kids attending school. Following the memorandum on prioritizing to feed the undernourished or wasted children, the school teachers are working hand in hand to realize the desire to reduce or eradicate the undernourishment in the students.

The school immediately organized a committee to handle the planning of healthful menu to serve to the wasted pupils, the plotting of schedule of teachers in taking turns to manage and take charge of the feeding every day. As forerunners of the positive outcomes of education, the feeding program can greatly save not just the health of undernourished children, but also save

them from the detrimental effects of possible serious health conditions that may affect their academic performance.

With the hopes of ending malnutrition, teachers are giving their utmost efforts to alleviate the malnutrition, condition common to the development and foundational years of school-children. The role of the teachers on the other hand is to not just feed the undernourished kids, but also let them feel that they are valued and they are not inferior from the other students who are not part of the list of wasted children. Part of the challenge in achieving the goal is to educate families about health and nutrition, so that they could sustain the progress children have made during the school feeding programs.

The success of the feeding program will not solely depend on the efforts of the teachers alone, but it will be shown when there is a joint collaboration and shared ideals between the school, parents, and community partners to achieve the common goal of malnutrition free school.

SSS luggage tags offer easier recall of membership numbers for OFWs

To facilitate social security transactions of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) even when stationed abroad, the Social Security System (SSS) is offering them free personalized luggage tags that can be claimed at SSS foreign representative offices (FRO) or during outreach events spearheaded by SSS or local consular offices.

SSS Senior Vice President and Head of the International Operations Division Judy Frances A. See said that these “SS# Tags” feature information printed on the card such as the member’s name, Social Security (SS) number, OFW coverage status and date of card issuance.

For added convenience, the contact information of the issuing SSS FRO and OFW Contact Services Unit (CSU) are printed at the back of the card.

“We have observed that many of our OFW-members have difficulty recalling their SS number which is important for all their SSS transactions such as contribution payments and availment of loans and benefits. It is fitting to provide luggage tags since it is a practical item for overseas travels.

The irrigated lands on the other hand are either in the hands of the national or communal irrigation systems – both are increasingly being privatized by the government, said the group, adding, the Aquino government has escalated the privatization of irrigation services through the public-private partnership (PPP) program and facilitated by international financial institutions such as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The private sector and the World Bank for instance build the infrastructure, while the government through the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) as collecting agent imposes user fees on the farmers. The Aquino government will further add burden to Batagueños by allowing coal expansion in Calaca and the construction of a new coal power plant in Batangas City,” said Petti Enriquez, secretary general of provincial environment group BUKAL – Batangas.

Enriquez noted that in the 2008 state of local governance report by Calaca Local Government, the most prevalent disease experienced by Calaca residents were lower respiratory tract infections, pneumonia, hypertension at diarrhea, all of which are possible linked to coal pollution.

MANILA -- Members of the National Cybersecurity Inter-Agency Committee engaged in a four-day workshop on Cyber-Incidence Handling at the Information and Communications Technology (ICT Office) Building.

This workshop was made possible with the support of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

On the first day of the workshop, Deputy Executive Director Nicolas D. Ojeda Jr. provided a background of the project: “Since the start of this administration, cybersecurity has been an identified national security concern, [and] the government has established mechanisms to safeguard our cyberspace. [This includes] the National Cybersecurity Inter-Agency Committee [that was] created last year in order to coordinate the preparation of measures to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities against existing and future cyber threats.”

He stressed that the workshop would bring about better- equipped cybersrecurity units that can lead the government’s efforts in handling threats in the cyberspace.

Later on the day, he presented further about the national cybersecurity policy of the Philippine government, with emphasis on the creation and implementation of the National Cybersecurity Inter-Agency Committee under Executive Order No. 189.

In her speech, Ms. Aurora A. Rubio, Head of the ITU Area Office for Southeast Asia, shared Deputy Executive Director Ojeda’s sentiment: “The absence or lack of appropriate institutional structures to deal with cyber incidents and attacks is a genuine problem in responding to cyberthreats. ITU is working with member states like the Philippines, among others, with regions, and with our partners to deploy capabilities and build capacities at the national and regional level….This workshop aims to contribute to previous as well as ongoing global activities related to building confidence and security in the

use of ICTs…(which) is also laced with the ITU cybersecurity agenda.”

Rubio, later on the day, further elaborated the ITU’s role in promoting Cybersecurity in Southeast Asia. As a specialized UN Agency with focus on Telecommunication and ICTs, their mandate is to coordinate radio spectrum and assign orbital slots for satellites, bridge the digital divide, and establish global standards in ICT. To execute their mandate, ITU has set four major Cybersecurity and the Global Telecommunication/ICT Targets for 2020, which are: * Growth – enabling and fostering access to and increased use of telecommunications/ICTs. * Inclusiveness – Bridging the digital divide and providing broadband for all. * Sustainability – Managing challenges resulting from the telecommunication/ICT development. * Innovation and partnership – Leading, improving and adapting to the changing telecommunication/ICT environment.

To do this, they are implementing a multi-level response to the cybersecurity challenges, working on national, regional, and international levels.

The ITU resource persons gave an over view of today’s Cybersecurity Landscape. In the presentation, it was mentioned that “ICTs have become an integral part of information society,” but at the same time, the “vulnerability of national infrastructures increase as the use of ICTs take root.”

Given this fact, there is a need to create a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) in order to be ready for any threats. He further mentioned that since “cybercrime is a global problem, so it goes without saying that it needs a global response,” therefore the role of the CSIRT should include the need to build up the national cyber defense and improve incident response capabilities.

dards, providing the theoretical framework in order to understand threats and execute the proper responses. After which, exercises were conducted to simulate real-life situations wherein the participants can apply their new-found knowledge.

During the closing ceremonies of the workshop, Ojeda expressed his grati-

tude to all of the speakers and the participants of the workshop.

The Program shall run for a period of 20 days (this has been subject to the agency’s availability of funds instead of the recommended 45 days as provided in the Program guidelines) from April 4-29, 2016, where each youth participant shall render service for eight (8) hours daily at regular office hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm) from Monday to Friday.

At the end of the internship, the students shall receive wages amounting to P409.09 per day throughout the duration of their work. Rosalie, a teacher who also works as secretary to the president of the Southern Baptist College here, told reporters on Saturday that every 20 minutes she goes inside the ICU to check on her husband, who had been fighting for his life since he was rushed to the hospital last Friday.

A video footage taken by a drone camera of the City Government of Kidapawan showed her husband was left behind when the police line was broken by angry protesters who returned after having been initially dispersed by water cannons.

Alone amidst the protesters, he was beaten up.

Rosalie said her husband’s head was “damaged” and he has not opened his eyes yet.

Despite the condition of her husband, she called for a fair and peaceful settlement of the issue involving the government and those who barricaded the stretch of the highway in Kidapawan City from early Wednesday morning until the dispersal on Friday noon.

Farmers and members of militant groups set up the barricade Wednesday demanding, among others, the release of 15,000 sacks of rice as calamity assistance to drought-stricken farmers. They vowed to stay at the barricade until their demands were met.

The Untalan couple has a 19-year-old child.

Rosalie says she knows the risks that go along with her husband’s profession and has come to accept that this might someday cost his life. But she adds that if her husband recovers, “I would still let him continue his career.”

Binoongan, Arakan; Victor Lumandang of Brgy. Alobayon in Magpet; and Enrico Pabrica, of Kidapawan City.

Casilao claimed there were also reports of two women killed but admitted they have yet to see the cadavers.

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista, on the other hand, said there were only two persons who died after being accidentally hit with rocks by fellow protesters.

Casilao said Makabayan Representatives Neri Colmenares, Carlos Isagani Zarate, and Terry Ridon set out on a mission on Saturday to check the conditions of the wounded farmers in different hospitals and those who were placed under the custody of police authorities.

Under police custody are 44 males housed at the Kidapawan Gym and 33 females at the Pilot Central Elementary School. At least 4,000 protesters have sought refuge at the Spottswood Methodist Center in Kidapawan City since Friday’s bloody dispersal.

“Hindi dapat i-question kung constituent kita or hindi. Kahit sabihin may outsiders, gobyerno sila.

Although there’s distinction in geo-political boundaries, which is true, but it is a humanitarian crisis that the government is capable of responding. The people were hungry, they were farmers,” he stressed.

The protesters demanded for the release of 15,000 sacks of rice as calamity assistance, Casilao noted.

Evangelista claimed barangays and municipalities in their province have been distributing rice subsidies for the last two weeks as part of the calamity fund while the subsidy from the provincial level will come in after the El Nino phenom-

enon, if their resources have not been depleted by then.

In his area, the mayor said a total of 1,500 sacks of rice have been distributed to his constituents.

He said they don’t have qualms when it comes to the staging of protests for as long as they don’t block the national highway, which “paralyzed the economy.”

Two trucks carrying 94 protesters returned to their communities in Arakan and President Roxas in Cotabato, bringing to 4,386 the total number of people who occupied the Spottswood Methodist Center since Friday.

Leonor Tano, 53, farmer and resident of Brgy. Binoongan in Arakan, North Cotabato, said her family has so far received only two bags of rice, one containing three kilos and the other, five kilos.

“We are six in the family,” she said, lamenting that it was just not enough for them.

Her husband was among the injured protesters allegedly by bullets last Friday and is now confined at the Midway Hospital in Kidapawan. She and her husband stood by the gate of Spottswood when the tension erupted.

Tano said that she, along with son and husband, rode a jeepney to Kidapawan last Tuesday after she heard that Gov. Emmylou “Lala” Talino-Mendoza would distribute rice subsidies without knowing that a tension would erupt between the farmers and the police.

“Nadunggan lang man nako nga naay mag-distribute og bugas (I just heard that someone will distribute rice),” she said.

Tano said that she missed the recognition rites of her children who are in grades 7 and 8 last week.

According to Evangelista, 99 policemen and firemen, as well as 41 protesters, were hurt in the incident.

Sarmiento said that the first panel, which will focus on the operational aspect of the dispersal, would be headed by the National Police Commission (Napolcom) under Commissioner Job M. Mangente; and the second panel, which will focus on the local government units (LGUs), would be headed by Director Manuel Q. Gotis of the DILG’s Bureau of Local Government Supervision (BLGS).

He added the Napolcom’s fact-finding panel would focus on the actions made by the Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel and their commanders who were on the ground when the incident happened while the LGU panel would look at the measures taken by the concerned LGUs in addressing the El Niňo problem in their area of responsibility.

Sarmiento said that like most people, he was puzzled as to how the farmers’ protest became violent that left at least three people dead

and 10 farmers and at least 99 policemen injured , two of whom sustained serious trauma injuries.

Of the three fatalities, two were killed as a result of the confrontation while one died of heat stroke.

“I have ordered the creation of a fact-finding task force which would investigate this Kidapawan incident without fear or favor. I myself have several questions that can only be answered through a full and objective investigation,” Sarmiento said.

For one, Sarmiento said that there was a need to find out if the policemen who were deployed to keep the peace exercised maximum tolerance and observed duly established police operational procedures or rules of engagement before resorting to the use of reasonable force.

He said all the firearms issued to the policemen who were involved in the incident would be subjected to ballistics test to find out who fired their firearms. He noted that one of the farmers who died in the incident was positive of gun powder during paraffin test that indicated that he might have fired a gun when the melee broke out.

The fact finding task force should also find out who organized and financed the mobilization of the protesters who demanded for rice subsidies from the provincial government of North Cotabato.

He said that based on initial reports, many of the protesters were not even from North Cotabato and therefore had no right to demand any form of subsidy from the provincial government.

“Who misled them by saying that rice will be given? Why is it that the protesters were carrying banners condemning the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Internal Peace and Security Plan or IPSP Bayanihan which has nothing to do with El Niňo? Why is it that the protesters were carrying banners of certain political personalities and partylist groups seeking office this May elections? What are their real motives?” Sarmiento asked.

“These questions are very important because the violence that took place might have programmed and planned beforehand by their handlers to advance their May elections agenda. We should find out who instigated this incident and find out if we can actually hold them accountable for what happened,” Sarmiento said.

Sarmiento added that the fact-finding task force would also be tasked to review the actions taken by the local governments in North Cotabato in order to adequately support constituents who were affected

by El Niňo.

“Did our LGUs implement their Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) plan in providing support to the El Niňo affected families?

Did they use protocol under the DRRM law? Did they use their LGU Crisis Management manual in dealing with the protesters?” Sarmiento asked.

Sarmiento also defended his decision to pin wounded personnel medals to the policemen who were injured in the incident because all them were in the line of duty when

they sustained their injuries.

“When you are injured in the line of duty, you get a wounded personnel medal,” Sarmiento said.

In related development, Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor, PNP Spokesman said that policeman wounded in the Kidapawan melee on Friday, April 1, was hit by gunfire, doctors confirmed.

According to Kidapawan Doctors’ Hospital Inc., Dr. Mark Hazel Aguayo, surgeon, the wound sustained by PO2 Reynaldo Roque in his left leg is from a gunshot.

However, Dr. Aguayao said that the caliber of the said gunshot cannot be determined.

He said that the incident lasted for about 30 minutes as the rebels went from vehicle to vehicle taking their vehicle keys and held the civilians at gunpoint.

Tagros said that the government troopers have been deployed along with the elite K-9 team to conduct a pursuit operation of the NPA rebels in the mountains of Bukidnon.

According to Tagros, the military has issued an advisory three days prior to the Sunday incident about the plan of the NPA to conduct AFP or PNP checkpoints using the COMELEC checkpoint signboards.

Following the advisory, the military immediately conducts patrols in Bukidnon and engaged the NPA rebels in a running gun battle on the outskirts of Malaybalay City last April 2, 2016. No casualties were reported in the incident, Tagros said.

In an email statement released to the local media, Allan Juanito, the spokesperson of the NPA North Central Mindanao Committee, said that the simultaneous checkpoints were aimed at implementing the revolutionary policies on the conduct of the upcoming elections to achieve peaceful campaigns inside NPA territories.

He said that the captives would be covered with the provisions of the Geneva Protocol about the Prisoners of War (POW) whose individual rights would be protected and personal safety assured.

THE REV HALL – A Gala of Ingenuity at the World Trade Center

Yamaha Motor Philippines, Inc. returns bigger than ever in the 10th IR Bikefest held at the World Trade Center.

In this year’s edition, attendees get to see the REV HALL, a Gallery of Ingenuity by Yamaha. The exhibit pays tribute to the consistent evolution of Yamaha products that have gone numerous advancements to give the customers quality beyond their expectations. The growth of these products through the years has been influenced, almost entirely, by the customers. The company prides itself in developing a close relationship with its patrons and takes their preferences and suggestions to heart.

Through the years as each generation has changed its outlook, Yamaha has constantly ridden the tide and provided a unique and incomparable riding experience.

This continuous change can also be seen in the physical aspect of the exhibit. The gala was designed under a “BooM” concept which is a highly flexible design that allows multiple forms of arrangements that highlights each product uniquely. This was first seen in the Tokyo Motor show last year and this global style of Yamaha

will be experience by Filipino’s up close.

The lineups featured this year are the AT category with the Mio i 125, the Mio Soul i 125, the Mio MXi 125, and the Mio Sporty. The blazing speedsters in the R-Series with the YZF-R15, YZF-R3, and YZF-R1. The sizzling style of the Street Category with the All New SZ and the FZi. A magnificent showing of the Moped category with the Vega Force i and the Sniper 150 Mxi. The pure power of the Big Bike category with the MT-09, Super Tenere, and Bolt. The Max Series featuring the T-Max and the N-MAX. The Yamaha exclusive Leaning MultiWheel (LMW) tech in the Yamaha Tricity. And for the first time on display are the side by side UTV YXZ1000R, the MT-07 showing a darker side of Japan, and the 03Gen that unifies racing style and technological superiority.

In addition to all this is the collaboration between Yamaha Motor Philippines and Yamaha Music with captivating performances from Yuki Shimada and Mike Chan and the Anthem.

Yamaha has a long history as a company with multiple facets of function that allows

it to have a very wide range of products and services. The brand is largely known for the development of Motorcycles and Musical equipment just to name a few. Yamaha was not established until 1887 but Yamaha Motor Company would not be established until 1955. During the years before it manufactured motorcycles, the company thrived in creating piano and reed organs but it would a new dimension to its business after World War 2.

Using the remains of the company’s war time production, then President Genichi Kawakami developed the first Yamaha Motorcycle

in 1954, the YA-1 that is also called the “red dragonfly”. The success of that unit led to the creation of Yamaha Motor Co., ltd. Since

THE YAMAHA NATIONAL TECHNICIAN GRAND PRIX Yamaha makes sure that each customer is given the best quality of service all over the world. The training of technicians and their continued progression to be as skilled as they can be is taken seriously; the development of each personnel is just as important as providing care for customers.

This is the purpose of the Yamaha Technical Academy (YTA) that aims to achieve the highest standard of customer satisfaction by providing certified experts in the field.

Each technician goes through multiple sets of qualifications to be awarded certification that ranges from Bronze, Silver, and the highest one of Gold. The system for this was developed by taking the best practices from all over the world and making a unified process of certification which results in the improvement of personnel.

As part of the global YTA program, the Yamaha Technician Grand Prix allows 3s Shop Service Technicians to

demonstrate their technical knowledge and skills in a high level competition. This is done to further recognize their talents, encourage them to raise their proficiency and motivate them to achieve No.1 CS through “One to One Service”. The Yamaha Technician Grand Prix happens all over the Globe with regional competitions determining the best candidate for each country that will qualify for the World Technician Grand Prix.

The Philippine edition reached its finale alongside Yamaha Motor Philippines’ Rev Hall exhibit at the World Trade Center. The top 20 participants have earned their way and will have the opportunity to represent the Philippines.
