Young rebel abandons NPA EDITOR: Cris diaz

DAVAO CITY -- A 14-yearold girl abandoned the New People’s Army (NPA) two months after she was recruited by the revolutionary group in January.

The Davao Oriental Provincial Information Office revealed on Friday that Shena (not her real name) of So Casunugan, Barangay Buso, Mati City, Davao Oriental sought the help of a barangay councilman of Buso to facilitate her surrender to the Army on Thursday.

Shena is a grade six student of Serafin Vizconde Elem School in Buso when she was recruited by an alias Kara in January.

Shena reportedly became a Medic of Squad 3, Baking Platoon of Pulang Bagani Command (PBC) 7.

Shena’s surrender followed an encounter between government troops and NPA rebels that left a member of the NPA dead and two soldiers wounded.

The latest armed encounter between the communist insurgents and Army troops happened noon Thursday in Barangay Tagbinonga, Emolyn C. Hungary vows stronger ties with PHL amid EU criticism over nation’s domestic affairs

DAVAO CITY -- The Hungarian government has vowed to strengthen cultural and trade relations with the Philippines amid criticisms by the European Union (EU) over the country’s domestic affairs.

“We understand that it’s only the Filipino people who have the right to make a decision about (their) country,” he said.

On Monday afternoon, Szijjarto signed an agreement on cultural exchange and foreign affairs with the National Commission on Culture and the Arts and the Department of Foreign Affairs before a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte at the Panacan Guest House.

Szijjarto is the first top diplomat coming from the European Union to visit the country under the Duterte administration.

Pantukan holds Oplan Lingkod Barangay

DAVAO CITY -- Hundreds of residents of Barangay Fuentes in Pantukan town availed yesterday, March 30, different government services in their Oplan Lingkod Barangay.

Pantukan Information Officer Nick Bryan Patalinghug stressed that the

Oplan Lingkod Barangay gives an avenue to different local government offices to directly deliver their services to the community.

Patalinghug said that among the offices involved in the Oplan were the local health office, civil registry office, agriculture office, disaster risk and reduction management office,

environment and natural resources office, Bureau of Fire and Protection and Philippine National Police.

He added that lecture on solid waste management, fire safety, family disaster preparedness and illegal drugs campaign were conducted simultaneous to the delivery of services.

Patalinghug disclosed

that Barangay Fuentes is the seventh out of the 13 villages that has been visited for this year by the Oplan Lingkod Barangay team.

He added that team visits three barangay every month. The next barangays to be visited will be Tambongon and Matiao.

BUTUAN CITY – Two days after the March 28, 2017 fire that hit Barangay New Society Village here, Agusan del Norte First District Rep. Lawrence Lemuel Fortun visited the fire victims temporarily sheltered at the barangay covered court and distributed food packs and blankets.

Fortun’s relief goods were given out with the help of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSSDO) to complement with the emergency assistance already provided by the city government to the fire victims.

Some 75 families or around 300 persons were left homeless in the P15million fire. One-year old Zion John Marqueta died in the blaze, and his fouryear old brother, Justine Dayn, who suffered second degree burns, later died in the hospital.

fire station immediately dispatched two firetrucks and crew at 12:57 pm on Narra Road, New Society Village and saw the blaze already engulfed many of the houses. Thirteen firetrucks and crews from Cabadbaran City, Buenavista, Nasipit, and Kitcharao towns in

Agusan del Norte, Agusan Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade Volunteers, Gaisano Fire Brigade, Orgon Wood, Richmond Wood, Happy Enterprise, Butuan City Water District and Equiparco Construction Company also arrived to help control and put out the fire. The blaze

was declared under control at 12:54 pm.

Escobido said witnesses reported that the fire allegedly started at the house of a certain Romeo Felix.

Meanwhile, the Office of the City Fire Marshall said final investigation on the fire was on going.

Capt. Andrew Linao, of the Civil Military Operations (CMO) of the 701st Infantry Brigade, reported that the troops of 28th Infantry Battalion and 66th Infantry Battalion encountered the NPA’s Pulang Bagani Command 6 in Tagbinonga while the soldiers were conducting patrol operations.

Linao said the body of the dead rebel was recovered.

The two wounded soldiers were immediately given medical attention, he added.

Linao said the Army pounded the NPA position with 105 artillery to support the ground troops.

Linao said the Philippine Army will continue the military operation against lawless groups that undermine the people’s democratic way of life and institutions.

“These terrorists will not be tolerated and will face the full force of the government to maintain law and order,” he said.

Since last week, the NPA has stepped up offensive operations against the communist rebels.

Hungary is looking for cooperation in the field of food industry , water management, machinery and education.

Szijarto announced they have granted 35 scholarships for Filipino students to study in any Hungarian universities.

Petron Blaze 100 is now Euro 6

M ar k et leader Petron Corporation now has the cleanest and most advanced gasoline in the Philippine market that even surpasses Euro 6 standards, the most stringent fuel technology and emission benchmark in the world today.

Petron’s Blaze 100 Euro 6 was rigorously tested and certified by leading global laboratories and engine rating experts namely SGS, Millbrook Proving Ground in the United Kingdom, and ISP The Testing Institute in Germany.

Tests showed Blaze 100 Euro 6 contains less than 3 ppm (parts per million) sulfur, compared to the Euro 6 standard of 10 ppm maximum. Euro 4 fuels, which is the mandated standard in the country, contains up to 50 ppm. Blaze 100 Euro 6 is available in nearly 300 Petron service stations nationwide.

The Euro 6 standard is the most stringent global emission standard. To qualify, fuel should have

significantly reduced particle numbers, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbons in vehicle emissions. Particle number (PN) is the additional criterion that separates Euro 5 and Euro 6 fuel standards. Blaze 100 Euro 6 passed the PN tests with flying colors as it was three times cleaner than the limit.

Samples of Blaze 100 Euro 6 were taken from Petron’s Bataan refinery and randomly from its stations

by SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing, and certification company. The samples were then sent to SGS laboratories in the United Kingdom, Singapore and the Philippines. All samples tested met specifications (EN 228:2012) for Euro 6-technology vehicles.

Petron also sent samples of this innovative product to ISP The Testing Institute – a leading engine and vehicle testing laboratory for fuels and lubricants de-

velopment. ISP conducted a Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) test with Blaze 100 Euro 6 and found it did not cause carbon deposits in GDI engines. GDI is a more advanced engine technology that addresses fuel

economy and emissions.

It is being used in newer European, American, and Asian car models.

Millbrook Proving Ground, which provides validation and engineering services in the automotive,
