SALN deadline, April 30
In view of the wide gamut of cases violating the rules concerning the filing of Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN), Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales has reminded all government officials and employees to be truthful in accomplishing their SALN for the year 2016 and to file the same ahead of the April 30 deadline. The annual filing of SALN is a constitutional and statutory obligation of every public servant in any branch, subdivision, instrumentality or agency See DEADLINE, page 7
Franchising and Regulatory Board in Northern Mindanao (LTFRB-10) has conducted inspection in the city’s public utility vehicle (PUV) terminals. The inspection of PUVs, particularly buses, is a preventive measure that could
save lives, said LTFRB-10 regional director Aminoden Guro on Wednesday. At the integrated bus terminal in Agora, Barangay Lapasan, LTFRB-10 personnel checked if the buses plying the Bukidnon, Davao and Caraga routes
have complied with all the safety measures set by the government. Guro said the three major bus companies—Pabama Tours, Rural Transit Mindanao, Inc. and Super 5— have followed the safety protocols.

Cops urged to coordinate with ceasefire mechanisms By Carolyn O. Arguillas of MindaNews
THE Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process and the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday urged police officers to coordinate with the ceasefire mechanisms when they conduct law enforcement operations in conflict-affected areas in the Bangsamoro, to ensure the primacy of the peace process is upheld and in the words of GPH Peace Implementing Panel chair Irene Santiago, to avoid a “micro or macro Mamasapano.” At the Forum on the GPH-MILF Peace Process, Secretary Jesus Dureza, Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, urged the audience of top police officials from the conflict areas in the Bangsamoro and
neighboring regions to always remember “the bigger goal” which is to “build peace in the land.” “Yes we have operational targets, but hopefully we don’t run roughshod over the gains we have already achieved in the peace process,” he said. “Consult, consult, seek advice, seek advice. In case of doubt, you ask questions, ayos?,” Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said, as he assured them it does not matter if coordination will affect the success of the law enforcement operations (LEO) “basta importante hindi tayo masisi sa bandang huli” (what is important is that we will not be blamed in the end). “Ibalik natin yung pagsasangguni, See coordinate, page 7

LTFRB has also made mandatory that all drivers only drive for six hours a day so they would be at their best when on the road. “We have to see to it that both PUVs and drivers are in good shape to avoid any road accidents. Violators
of road regulations will be penalized,” Guro said. At the Agora integrated bus terminal, most of the buses are brand new and in mint condition. Noticeable are the new and high-end
THE prospects for the onset of Tropical Storm Dante in the country has dimmed further. ‘Dante’ may begin weakening into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours so there is even a lower chance for this disturbance to bring inclement weather to the country, state weather bureau, PAGASA, forecaster Benison Estareja said Thursday. He said ‘Dante’ may start recurving and heading northeastwards within the day, moving away from the country without making landfall or nearing Philippine landmass. “There’s no other weather system at present that can
bring inclement weather to any Philippine area so we can still expect generally fair weather nationwide,” he said. Despite the optimistic outlook, Estareja cautioned about the possible occurrence of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the country, likely during afternoons and early evenings. “People must prepare for such possibility,” he said. ‘Dante’ was once a lowpressure area that intensified into a tropical depression and became a storm afterwards. In its 24-hour forecast released Thursday,
