CAGAYAN de Oro City-The continuing combat operations by the military against a local terror group in Lanao del Sur has led to the displacement of more than 2,000 residents in three towns in said province, authorities said. As of Monday, the provincial government of Lanao del Sur has reported the evacuees have doubled in number since Friday night as government soldiers continue to engage the Maute Group in a firefight. PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur--The much awaited 34-kilometer P551 million World Bank-funded provincial road concreting project that will connect the farming communities between San Luis town and Bayugan City will soon be realized. Gov. Adolph Edward Plaza said the road network

MILF rebels demand Military return of handgun seized revives by police in Maguindanao Task Force By Ferdinandh B. Cabrera, MindaNews

PARANG, Maguindanao--About 50 guerrillas of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) led by Datu Solaiman Dimatuntay arrived at the local police station on Monday morning to demand the return of a handgun that was seized Sunday from their leader. The rebels, brandishing high-powered firearms, came on board a multicab and about 10 motorcycles and looked for Chief Inspector Erwin Tabora, the town police chief. Only two policemen were on duty as Tabora and the rest of his subordinates were attending the burial of a colleague. Upon arriving, the rebels reportedly fired their guns in the air, and Dimatuntay told the two policemen to return his caliber .45 pistol. Dimatuntay was arrested Sunday at a police checkpoint manned by the Regional Public Safety Company in a checkpoint. COTABATO City––To help fight terrorism, kidnapping and illegal drugs, the Army’s 6th Infantry Division reactivated Tuesday Task Force Kutawato (TFK). Major Gen. Arnel dela Vega, 6th Infantry Division commander, designated Colonel Jose Gongona as Task Force Kutawato commander.
