Pres. Duterte back from Middle East, vows repatriation assistance for OFWs P

resident Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Monday, April 17, vowed that government will provide assistance for the repatriation and livelihood of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), as he welcomed more than 100 amnesty availees from Saudi Arabia.

“We will continue to provide… lahat ng gustong umuwi. Lahat ng gustong umuwi na Pilipino doon, makakauwi. Gastusan natin ‘ yan ,” he said in his speech at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The Chief Executive arrived in Manila early Monday morning following his

P-EAGA TIF cluster to prioritize connectivity , halal value chain

DAVAO CITY– The government is moving towards increasing connectivity between the Philippines and the member-countries of the East ASEAN Growth Area (EAGA) in a bid to promote more trade and investment activities especially for the halal industry. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reported that during a meeting of the Philippine-EAGA Trade and Investment Facilitation (P-EAGA TIF) cluster last month in Davao City, representatives from various agencies agreed to take the necessary steps to increase the economic activities of BEACH. For halal industry, for instance, Trade and Industry Assistant Secretary Arturo Boncato, Jr., the Philippine Senior Official to BIMPEAGA, pointed out that the country has to move towards becoming part of the whole halal value chain. ”This means that the country can maximize the presence of a huge halal market even at the local level,” he said, noting that there are no halal restaurants at the airports. “Our approach here can be domestic,” he added. The availability of halal slaughter houses is another opportunity that the country can look into. To date, there is only one halal slaughter house in the country located in Cotabato City. DTI-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Secretary Anwar Malang earlier said that in capturing the halal market, the sub-regional cooperation must look at it as an ecosystem, and not only focus on the food market. ”In ARMM, we are concerned of halal because that’s our need,” he said, adding that it is about time to harmonize the standards of halal certification. Pres. Duterte assures aid for 139 OFWs back home thru Saudi amnesty grant

he government assured the provision of monetary and livelihood assistance to the new batch of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who availed of the amnesty program by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). This, as the second batch of Filipino workers totalling to 139, arrived in the country Monday morning on board Saudia Airlines flight SV 7079. President Rodrigo Duterte, along with Cabinet members and ranking government officials, welcomed the repatriated overseas Filipino workers

comprised of 65 females and 20 children coming from Bahay Kalinga (female shelter), and another 54 males who resided in the Estiraha (male shelter), including 16 walk-in clients at the Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia. Among the initial assistance accorded to the returning OFWs were travel

documents processing, use of a special immigration lane, and baggage assistance, which were provided by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). Likewise, they were provided post-repatriation services to the workers which include temporary shelter at the OWWA Halfway Home, psycho-social counseling/stress debriefing, and transport services. Each worker, whether active or inactive OWWA member, received PHP5 , 000 cash

assistance from the Office of the President as well as an additional PHP5 , 000 from DOLE/OWWA. The 139 Filipinos were granted exit visas under Saudi Arabia’s “Nation Without Violations” amnesty program . The OFWs were also offered a package of services from the DOLE Assist WELL program that provides “Welfare, Employment, Livelihood, and Legal Assistance” to displaced workers. OWWA members can avail of the Balik-Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay Program

- a non-cash livelihood package worth PHP10 , 000 consisting of a starter kit and techno-skills training. Non-OWWA members, on the other hand, shall be referred to the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) for availment of their non-cash training and livelihood program. The first batch of Filipino workers numbering to 25, who have availed of the said program arrived in the country last April 11. The 90-day Saudi Arabian amnesty program was launched on March 29, 2017. A “R apid Response Team” was deployed by

Davao Oriental to launch ‘Kabilin Festival’

In addition, the offender under Section 6, 1st, 2nd and 3rd offense shall undergo seminar to be conducted jointly by the LTO representative and OCTMB.

Section 8: Failure on the part of the violator to pay the administrative fine as provided for in the immediately preceding Section shall cause the filing of a case in proper court and, upon conviction, shall suffer the following penalties: - fine of Php 1,000.00 and/or imprisonment of 10 days at the discretion of the court. 1st Offense - fine of Php 2,000.00 and/or imprisonment of 15 days at the discretion of the court. 2nd Offense - fine of Php 3,000.00 and/or imprisonment of 30 days at the discretion of the court. 3rd Offense Provided, that in the case falling under Section 6 if after 72 hours a case is not filed with proper Court and the violator opted to pay the administrative fine, the City Treasurer’s Office shall accept the same with corresponding surcharge of five percent per month. And, if the case has been filed in Court and the accused opted to pay the fine in accordance with Section 8 hereof, the City Treasurer’s Office shall likewise accept the same as an administrative fine, with the corresponding surcharge of ten percent per month. Provided, further, that in the computation of the fine and the surcharge thereof under Sections 6 and 8, a fraction of a month shall be considered as one month. Before this Court is a verified Petition for Correction of the Marriage Contract of Spouses Alex Ondo Macalisang and Corazon Padrones Macalisang. The Marriage Contract, which was registered on December 23, 1977 with the Office of the Civil Registrar of Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, allegedly contained erroneous entries namely: 1.) The name of petitioner’s husband, which was entered as Alex Macalisang Lee instead of Alex Macalisang; 2.) Petitioner’s Father’s last name, which was entered as Pardones instead of Padrones and 3.) Petitioner’s mother’s last name, which was entered as Pardones instead of Padrones. Petitioner is seeking to correct the above erroneous entries. Finding the aforesaid petition to be sufficient in form and substance, it is hereby ordered that the same be set for hearing on May 17, 2017 at 8:30 o’clock in the morning. Let a copy of this Order be published at the expense of the petitioner in a newspaper of general circulation in Marawi City and Iligan City for three (3) consecutive weeks. The Civil Registrar of Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, and the Civil Registrar General, Philippine Statistics Authority, Quezon City , or any person or party who has an interest in the petition, may file his/her opposition thereto within fifteen (15) days from notice of this petition or from the last day of publication of this Order. Further, let copies of this Order be posted, also at the expense of the petitioner, for fifteen (15) days prior to the date of hearing at the following areas: 1.) Bulletin Board of the City Hall of Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, 2.) Bulletin Board of Civil Registrar of Marawi City, Lanao del Sur ; and 3.) the Bulletin Board of this Court. Serve copies of this Order, and copies of the Petition dated December 6, 2016 and its annexes, to the Civil Registrar of Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, the Honorable Solicitor General, OSG, Makati City; and the Philippine Statistics Authority, Quezon City.
