Eagles hold outreach for Butig evacuees By MARK FRANCISCO

HE Fraternal Order of Eagles (Philippine Eagles) led by national president Louie Ceniza and Governors Dondon Allorin of NMR1 and Nelson AlontoSarapuddin of NMR4 as well as selected clubs officers distributed relief goods to evacuees at Butig covered court in Lanao del Sur. The outreach, which was made last March 10, rounded up a total of 150 club presidents from four regions in a 40-vehicle caravan which convoyed from Cagayan de Oro City all the way to Butig, Lanao del Sur. The huge group brought with them rice, canned goods and noodles. Aside from NMR1 and NMR4, the other regions represented were Davao, Bukidnon and ARMM. According to Sarapuddin, a total of 1,000 families from four evacuation centers were served by the Eagles. The four evacuation centers were located in barangays
Samer and Poblacion (all in Butig); and in the nearby municipalities of Masiu and Lumbayague. These are all located in the second district of Lanao del Sur. The whole activity was
dubbed as Relief Operations for the Victims of Butig, Lanao del Sur Clash/ Operation Tulong Alay sa Taga-Butig. Over 7,000 families fled the outskirts of Butig after a
conflict between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and a lawless group erupted since February 20. The fight ended on March 1 but evacuees are hesitant to return home, fearing reprisals.
Incumbent National President Eagle Louie Ceniza assisted by Immediate Past National President Eagle Enoy Balindong hand over relief goods to the evacuees of the Butig clash last March 10.

MORE than 50 participants – presidents and officers from each of the 23 clubs of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (Philippine Eagles) NMR1 – successfully joined the LEADS seminar last Saturday at Golden Stallion Suites. PEIL/LEADS Overview/ Organizational Mandate was conducted by Eagle Ferdinand Bernasor, national PEIL director. Talk on Leadership/ Eagle Officer/Government was held by Eagle Cesar Yamuta, executive PEIL director. A discussion on Thrusts and Direction/Protocol was done by Yamuta, too. The participants came from the following clubs – Opol, Punta Sulawan, Makahambus, Balingoan, Kagayha-an, Hibok Hibok, Silver Creek, Macajalar, Mt. Balatucan, Bulua Red Clay, Gingoog “Kaliga”,
Green CDO, Mantigue Island, Consolacion Gateway, Carmen, Royal Vectors, Mt. Ilihan, Patag, Kauswagan Gold Coast, Tagoloan, Riverside, Mahayahay Hills and Medina Eagle (Cocos Nucifera). LEADS seminar aims to inculcate the officers about doing planning programs and conducting orientation seminar and general membership meeting in their respective clubs. Eagle Andrew Paurom, regional PEIL director, NMR1, stressed that activities like this is important towards inculcating the value of leadership among the kuyas. Paurom said that the members are the ones handling the clubs. Moreover, it is also a possibility that they will handle higher office in the future and it is important to

know what are the basic tasks in performing such leadership duties. “We conducted this seminar because as part of PIEL, we want them to learn more about our organization as Eagles and they will know how to govern or run a particular government. We want them to know what is leadership in Eagles,” he said. For his part, Bernasor stated that mostly if not all of the officers of the respective clubs could not conduct or make programs with regards conducting meetings. “I want
these participants to be future leaders of our fraternity. That’s why I want at the end of this workshop if they will be already conducting general membership meeting or regional assembly if they are already in the regional office, they can learn how to conduct basic meeting of the proceedings of our fraternity,” he said. The Philippine Eagles is the first Philippine-born fraternal socio-civic organization that lives with the guiding principle Service Through Strong Brotherhood.

Basic Newswriting and Photojounalism Seminar set THE Fraternal Order of Eagles (Philippine Eagles) NMR4 is slated to hold a basic newswriting and photojournalism seminar on March 19, 2016, 8 a.m. at Pirates, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City. This will be participated by presidents and PIOs of the 6 NMR4 clubs. The seminar is intended so presidents and PIOs from the different clubs could provide prolific and
regular contributions to Agila Updates which is a weekly section of Mindanao Daily News to be released weekly. Other members who wish to attend the seminar are welcome to join. The Fraternal Order of Eagles has maintained a huge presence in Northern Mindanao for quite a few decades now. It has contributed immensely to the local community through various socio-civic outreaches and activities.
