basic journalism seminar last March 19 at Pirates along Lapasan highway in Cagayan de Oro City. There were a total of 16 individuals who participated in the seminar, the purpose of which was to mold the eagle members so they could become contributors of Mindanao Daily News Agila Updates, the official publication of the Eagles in both NMR1 and NMR4 which comes out every Saturday. These participants represented their respective clubs – Golden Friendship Eagles Club, Oro Builders Eagles Club, Metro Cagayan Eagles Club and 2 guest participants from TESDA. The said seminar was supported by Eagle Congressman Rufus Rodriguez, 2nd District, CDO; Eagle Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy, 1st District, CDO; Eagle Joaquin ‘Kikang’ Uy, Vice Mayoral candidate, CDO; and Eagle Gary Buendia, KEC President. It was Mindanao Daily News managing editor Ruel Pelone who gave a lecture on Quick Guide to Newswriting while it was Mindanao Daily News editorial consultant Joe Felicilda who gave the lecture on the Qualities of an Effective Media Practitioner.
Talk on Leadership/Eagle Officer/Government was held by Eagle Cesar Yamuta, Executive PEIL Director. A discussion on Thrusts and Direction/Protocol was done by Yamuta, too. The parcipants came from the following clubs - Golden Friendship Eagles Club, Oro Builders Eagles Club, Uptown CDO Eagles Club, Metro Cagayan Eagles Club and Bugo Eagles Club. LEADS seminar aims to inclulcate the officers about doing planning programs and conducting orientation seminar and general membership meeting in their respective clubs. “We conducted this seminar because as part of PEIL (Philippine Eagles Institute of Leadership), we want them to learn more about our organization as Eagles
and they will know how to govern or run a particular government. We want them to know what is leadership in Eagles,” Yamuta said, pointing out that previous LEADS seminars took two days to finish while the NMR4 batch this year had the privilege to shorten the time and eliminate the unnecessary or redundant portions. “I want these participants to be future leaders of our fraternity. That’s why I want at the end of this workshop if they will be already conducting general membership meeting or regional assembly if they are already in the regional office, they can learn how to conduct basic meeting of the proceedings of our fraternity,” he said. The Philippine Eagles is the first Philippine-born fraternal socio-civic organization that lives with the guiding principle Service Through Strong Brotherhood.
