taking time for ourselves in a relationship as it feels as if we are neglecting our partners. It often leads to hyper-fixating on our relationship to the point that we lose ourselves. Self-care is not selfishness; it is the love we deserve to give to ourselves. You need to remain whole and independent with a great sense of self for any relationship to work. Self-care is how you do that.

CREATE HEALTHY BOUNDARIES. Everybody needs these. This is how you let people know how to treat and respect you. You need to protect your space in all three spheres (emotional, psychological, and physical), and do it respectfully. This helps in identifying people whose actions and interests leave you feeling bad or drained because they violate your boundaries. Knowing this, you can decide

BY LAUREN NICOLE SINCLAIR Cue the music… I’m back! Someone burn my yoga pants and give me a beat face and fashions, Honey! Well, don’t burn all my yoga pants. I can still find a use for them; and just like COVID, athleisure isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The fashion and beauty industry is constantly changing. And the last two years are no different, even as most of us hit the uncharted territory in both industries. Most folks went from getting dressed for the office every day to pulling on the first pair of sweats that hit their hands in the closet. Applying makeup was only for Zoom calls, and when we all discovered the smooth face filter, the effort dwindled more. I went from designing custom clothing, traveling, styling, and selling the latest trends to being

uninspired and concerned for this world like never before. My inspiration no [MN1] longer came from the hustle and bustle of life but instead from the pivoting in my own living room. My personal stage talks switched from wearing your brand, style talks, and marketing, to how to create your own digital stage. My clients’ stage wardrobe shifted from head-to-toe styling to yoga pants paired with tops, more tops, and, of course, over-the-top accessories. People often think of fashion and beauty as trivial and insignificant, but I’ve seen how my clients’ appearances directly impact their outcomes. Whether the goal is to nail your dream job interview, or make your groom weak at the knees, or win over investors for your business, how you style yourself tells a story.

We try to teach the younger generation “don’t judge a book by its cover,” but it's exactly what we do everyday—whether intentional or not. We typically look at people’s appearance and decide where they live, how much money they make, and if we are interested in engaging in a conversation. And if they’re selling something, we judge with greater prejudice. “Is this person professional? Does she belong in this industry? Is he entertaining enough?”. The truth is, we are compelled by what we are attracted to. Before you open your mouth, someone has already decided whether to brush you off or engage. Unfortunately, we can accidentally fade into the background by trying to play it safe. That little black dress makes you feel comfortable and is a great go-to, but will you be remembered after you leave the stage? We all remember the people who stand out visually—the woman with the big hair and mixed prints, or the sister girl wearing the to-die-for jewelry who is working those shoes. We remember those who dare to stand out and be different, to be bold. We remember them because they confidently embrace whom they are called to be.

Represent who you have been called to be. God has called us all to a very specific position, and when in battle, you must wear the appropriate armor to fight. Your armor must be right for your fight and for your position. Be prepared. Plan ahead and organize. Have looks already set aside for your virtual stage and start planning for the physical. Stop hiding behind your computer, your shyness, and what others may think. Stop hiding behind your weight and dress where you are now. There’s no one on this earth that is meant to be you, so DO YOU on the highest level. If you want to leverage your look, life and business, set up a consultation with me, and let’s talk business and beauty. I want to accessorize your greatness and help you attract your tribe.

The fashion and beauty industries are powerful, together bringing in hundreds of billions of dollars every year. Paired together right, these industries can build your community, increase your bottom line, create more influence, and, most importantly, make you feel empowered. As the world continues to re-open and we create our new normal, use these tips to help you navigate both the digital and physical stages. Test the waters and book at least one inperson event this summer. The time to jump back in and get on stage is NOW. Mix and mingle —not just in the Zoom Zoom room but live and in person. Learn your personal style. Knowing what you want to look like is important. Knowing what you want your image to say is imperative. If you need help with this I have created a workbook that will help walk you through learning what your personal style is. Get a stylist. Focus on your messaging and let someone else do the tedious work. Avoiding the hassle of going from store to store or spending

ABOUT LAUREN NICOLE Lauren Nicole Sinclair’s love for fashion was kindled as a young child, V KhRit inspired her to create gowns for her Barbie dolls. She became fully enamored with the field as a business possibility while at Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, Miss., helping her friends to become Style-C savvy and producing full-blown fashion shows at the education institution. Her acumen in the field was quickly noticed, and she began styling for celebrity photographers and producing fashion shows and other events around the country. At Tougaloo, her official major was in Written, Radio, and Television Broadcasting. Lauren delayed getting into the fashion industry full-fledged after graduating from Tougaloo, opting instead to continue the communications career legacy of both her mother and father. Lauren worked as a producer/reporter at 16 WAPT News in Jackson, MS for more than eight years. Her career at WAPT afforded her opportunities to interview top politicians, celebrities, and people in the general community. While at the television station, she was recognized as an award-winning Emmy Journalist. Lauren’s first steps into fashion as a business were as an image consultant and wardrobe designer. She described herself as a fashion guide specializing in bridal, maternity, and special occasions. Her goal: Simply to help make women feel beautiful! In 2016, Lauren decided to focus fully on her fashion career. She became a full-time entrepreneur and since then, Lauren’s designs have been worn by people around the world (including celebrities). A successful woman makes history by making a way and by forging a path that others would not dare to travel. When she is told "you can't", a successful woman will make a way that she can."

What is an interesting fact about you that most people may not know?

"I absolutely love Cowboy Boots and I have an extensive collection of Boots. I can wear boots year-round because they personify the fun side of who I am, comfortable and can be worn with almost anything."

What do you feel are the 3 qualities a leader should have? "The three important qualities I believe are Character, Humility, and Excellent Communication Skills. Without these and other qualities a leader is NOT a leader, simply a boss. The difference: a leader leads others by influencing, inspiring, empowering and encouraging. A boss has employees and rules by fear or intimidation whereas a leader is creative and inspirational and encourages others to use their gifts and talents."

What is the most important aspect(s) of your brand? "I love the fact that my brand was created to help people live life from a natural and organic perspective because what goes on in your body is just as important as what goes in your body. That's why our mission is to "care for you naturally." The fact that our brand takes social responsibility seriously with passion and purpose helps us to stand out among our peers because we support women's efforts, the homeless and unsheltered, and teenage girls with a message of hope and healing. We

accomplish this through our philanthropic efforts, outreaches, training, and educational programs."

What is your definition of a successful woman and how does she make history? "A successful woman is a woman who does not give up "come hell or high water"-she is in it to win it. She shows the world what it means to be "all in" and to carry a light that draws other women. She is a woman who empowers other women and as she goes up, she motivates other women to move forward with their dreams and visions. She is an example of a woman who has the courage to own who she is, confident in her femininity, and has a teachable spirit. Finally, she makes history by being an unstoppable force for change in the world around her."

What events, programs, or offers do you have on the horizon?
