Hello, There’s a massive range of social groups here at BU & AUB - from the many clubs & societies to the group of friends you’re living with, and the occasion could be anything from a birthday bash to a sports club social. So to try and make it easy (and have a solution for everybody) we’ve put this Students’ Union venues group booking guide together.

A Bit about our events & How to book your group

Lollipop

It’s Bournemouth’s longest running student clubnight and the only way to celebrate the end of the week. Lollipop is great for birthday, group or course socials or simply any outing with a group of friends. Lollipop often gets alumni parties coming too. Midweek Clubnights

These are usually either specialist music events like Dice for bass/d’n’b, or theme parties like ‘I’m a student’. Check our site for the latest events.

Comedy Nation

A snug cabaret club is set up in your Union venue and a quality line-up from the stand-up circuit performers. Excellent for any kind of social where you want something a more chilled and very different from the usual loud clubbing.

Groups from 6-20 can be accommodated.

Saturday Clubbing

Specialist DJ-lead clubnights covering all strands of dance. Ticket prices are higher than midweek events and these are most ideal for a really special night-out like a birthday. Groups 6-10.

Live Shows

If there’s a specific live gig you want to come to as a group, then we can help you get the best view in the house right-up close to the band and the mosh-pit!

Quizzes

The Old Fire Station runs a Sunday eve quiz (perfect for halls) and Dylan’s runs a Tuesday eve quiz so there’s plenty on offer for quiz-lovers, why not get your brainy mates together and try and win?

Karaoke

The only SU Karaoke night takes place in Dylan’s bar, Thursday eves on Talbot Campus, it’s free and all singers get a free drink!

Private Bookings

Be it a course social, club /society social or just any reason you want to party The Old Fire Station can give you exclusive use of one of their 3 rooms., For groups of 30 – 100 The Engine Rooms can be opened exclusively for your event, groups over 100 the first floor can accommodate up to 400 guests and we of course have the main room available for groups over 400.

Extra Info Lollipop VIP It’s the busiest of all our events and will require the group to turn up by 2300hrs.

Tables will be offered VIP-exclusive drinks deals. Please let us know if there’s a birthday boy or girl!

Comedy tables There’s limited capacity at comedy so get your booking in early as possible.

Big groups & pre-party gatherings It’s important you contact us well in advance of the event if you have a group outing planned. Please contact at least 48hrs prior. For larger groups (50-100+) it could be possible to have a part of the venue for your own gathering before the clubnight starts.
