2014 International Blues Challenge and Keeping the Blues Alive Luncheon Review By Steve Jones, CBS President The 30th Annual International Blues Challenge was held in Memphis from January 21st through the 25th. This was my first time to attend the event. As President of Crossroads Blues Society I was also attending on behalf of the club to receive our Keeping the Blues Alive Award for Blues Foundation Affiliates. Uncle Marc on drums kept a steady beat and was one of the top drummers I heard throughout the week. They closed with Magic Sam’s “I continued on page 3

liner John Nemeth! We are looking to begin at noon, so the doors will open at 11 AM. We have our Crossroads Blues Challenge winners the Alex Wilson Band opening the day for us. Alex made the semi-finals and was beaten out by the band that won the IBC, so he has nothing to hang his head over– they represented us well! Alex and his band were truly superb competitors! continued on page 2
