10 - PUBLISHER’S NOTE
Dear Readers, > The heat of summer seems to be winding down, but we certainly enjoyed the past few months while they lasted—I know I did, since Germany won the World Cup! This year’s soccer championship was a great one not only for Germany, but for USA as well. Our nation is finally beginning to make an impression in this exciting sport, which has the largest following worldwide. I have always wondered why soccer had never taken off in this country like it has in the rest of the world, but I am sure that will change now! Orlando is even building a soccer stadium, and the Orlando City Soccer team is on the rise! We wish our best to everyone involved in our city’s soccer revolution. Although Orlando is just beginning to take on the latest sports trends, it is always up to date with the recent fashion trends. This September issue of Orlando Style is our Fall Fashion issue, featuring a captivating photo shoot with the up-and-coming photographer, Jessie Dee at downtown’s eclectic Aloft Hotel. Also, we listened to your comments and brought back your favorite interior design inspirations in our “Living N’ Style” editorial. You will find wonderful ideas on how to reinvent your home that you won’t find in any other publication. We’d love to hear your thoughts about it. This issue also features “Orlando’s Legal Elite 2014,” where you will find top, legal brains in the city. This extended feature offers fresh perspective on local attorneys that have been evaluated by the readers. Please be sure to let us know what you have learned from your own experience while searching for the right attorney. You can visit our website and suggest, and vote for your favorite “Legal Elite Lawyer.” We are already gathering votes for next year’s “Orlando’s Legal Elite,” and we want to add your recommendations to our list of local lawyers chosen by readers. Summer is coming to an end, and that means this year’s hurricane season will soon be reaching its peak. Make sure that you are staying alert and stocking up on
OrlandoStyleMagazine.com
the necessities and usual supplies before any threatening weather gets too close for comfort. Even though it is important to take the proper precautions, I believe that we should not become too concerned with tropical formations that are emerging from thousands of miles away, since they may never make it this far. Don’t let the worries of tomorrow allow you to forget to enjoy the happiness of today. As we send everyone in this city our wishes for safety during the rest of this hurricane season, we also hope that you all have a relaxing and reviving Labor Day holiday spent with your closest family and friends. Take a well-deserved break from your work schedule and indulge in the beautiful paradise that is Central Florida. And a very happy New Year and Rosh Hashanah 5775 to all of our Jewish friends. While we are eternally thankful for the freedom and privileges of this country, we send our well wishes and hope for peace in the Middle East and other areas of the world that are currently affected by turmoil. May we all try to live together with gratitude for our safety and the concern for those without; let’s strive to enjoy life with tolerance in our minds and care in our hearts. We are so appreciative of the loyalty of our dedicated readers, and I hope that you all have a wonderful beginning to this fall season. Sincerely,
Sven J. Bode, Publisher

IF YOU’VE REACHED THAT POINT WHERE MOST OF YOUR DESTINATION TRIPS TO BEACHFRONT RESORTS HAVE BEGUN TO BLUR INTO ONE ALL TOO FAMILIAR MEMORY, THEN CURAÇAO COULD BE THE PLACE FOR YOU.

SANTA BARBARA BEACH & GOLF RESORT CURAÇAO Create a new vacation tradition at Sea Traditions! By Riesa Pascal
> A stay at the Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort Curaçao will be far from your typical Caribbean vacation. Fortunately, these differences will be evident in the most spectacular ways possible. Vacationing in any tropical destination typically involves heading to a long stretch of beach with dozens of borderline identical resorts all lined up in neat little rows like a beautiful, but commonplace orange grove. If you’ve reached that point where most of your destination trips to beachfront resorts have begun to blur into one all too familiar memory, then Curaçao could be the place for you. Unsurpassed by their rivals, the Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort Curaçao is guaranteed to bring you a brand new vacationing experience from the moment you depart Curaçao’s modern international airport and begin the scenic ride to the gorgeous, secluded property. You’ll drive past the “orange grove” resorts and across a magnificent bridge overlooking the beautiful capital of Willemstad, before eventually coming up to the regal, gated entrance of the Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort. Located on 2,000 acres of rare natural preserve, it’ll be impossible not to unwind and relax on this charming property which sits miles away from the hustle and bustle of downtown and other resorts in the area. This is especially true when you have the unparalleled pleasure of staying in one of the resort’s famous Sea Traditions rooms. Nestled among three separate, semiprivate buildings in their own unique community on the resort, the Sea Traditions guest rooms offer the ideal setting for a true Caribbean getaway. It is the perfect choice for the traveler seeking a more private, luxurious vacationing ex-
perience. Sea Traditions is comfortably separated from the main portion of the hotel, yet it remains close enough to allow guests to enjoy the property’s restaurants, the spa and every other resort service, including a few exclusive services available only to you. While staying at Sea Traditions I had the use of a private Sea Traditions enclave swimming pool, a private patio overlooking the Caribbean Sea, a semi-private courtyard entrance and an on call butler from 9am to 7pm. Over 400 square feet of living space and several upgraded, unique amenities made it more than a little difficult to leave my suite each day, but a little reminder that I was vacationing on the beautiful island of Curaçao was the only push I needed to get up and go explore. My first official morning on the island began with a private meal at the Sea Traditions pool. If breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day, then Sea Traditions has the Goliath of breakfast buffets. Bacon, sausage, fruit, tropical drinks, omelets cooked to order and more left us satisfied and ready for the adventurous day ahead. Our first stop was Willemstad for a walking tour of Curaçao’s beloved capitol with Island Adventures. Knowledge of the island’s history and a contagious passion for sharing Curaçao culture came in the form of Island Adventure’s Bigala, our spirited tour guide for the day. The Curaçao native with a bigger than life personality was a bright addition to our day and carried an even brighter smile to match. She brought us right up to the entrance of the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue and proceeded to tell us all about its history as the oldest synagogue in continuous use in the Western Hemisphere. She swiftly recalled various facts as she walked

us past the Governor’s Mansion and through the center of town. She led us through the Venezuelan floating market and in an off the cuff decision, even purchased a few unique fruits for my companion and I to taste and try. Bigala’s enthusiasm and love for her island was more than just contagious. It was physically palpable and resulted in a tour that took on a rare personal feel that I know I will compare to all future tours for years to come. From Willemstad, Bigala led us to explore the magnificent beaches of the island’s west side and Boca Tabla, a rocky beach line with breathtaking views of where land and ocean join to become one. Next on the to-do-list (and something that should be on everyone’s bucket list!) was an underwater safari excursion appropriately called, Aquafari. Located next door to Pirate Bay at Piscadera, Aquafari was the experience of a lifetime. As someone who isn’t certified in scuba diving, but has still desired to explore the deep blue, Aquafari provided me just that opportunity. In groups of 4-6, we boarded our personal, ecofriendly, self-propelled submersible scooter and set “sail” into the sea. Unlike scuba diving there was no certification required outside of a brief safety training session by Shenna, Aquafari’s

kind, beautiful hostess who was just as excited for our adventure to begin as we were. For an hour we glided effortlessly through the sea with Jason and Andy, two certified scuba divers who guided, monitored and photographed the entire experience. Deep under the crystal clear water we enjoyed colorful reefs, a variety of extraordinary tropical fish and many other fascinating sea creatures. Dinner that evening came in the form of L’aldea, an authentic Brazilian steakhouse with a twist. The gorgeous restaurant is one part of a themed 4000 square meter resort that reflects the cultures of the Mayan, Aztec, Inca and Arawak. In addition to the steakhouse and hotel, L’aldea also has two additional restaurants, a park, a souvenir shop and a spa where you can have a pedicure by live Garra Rufa fish. Roughly 130 exotic animals are on the property and a unique 45-minute tour is offered to see them all as well as replicas of the ancient ruins of the Mayan, Aztecs and Incas. Dinner at L’aldea combined the renowned cuisine of Southern Brazil with the generous spirit of Curaçao. Expertly paired wines flowed and live musical entertainment filled the air as we enjoyed 18 of the finest selections of beef, lamb, poultry, pork and jumbo shrimp all prepared in an exquisitely delicious culinary style.
The following day was one of education and creativity. After another scenic poolside breakfast, my companions and I were off on our first adventure, a tour of Curaçao’s Aloe Vera plantation. During a fascinating hour with our guide Remco, we learned all about the innumerable benefits of Aloe Vera and the plantation’s world famous brand of all natural Aloe Vera products appropriately titled Curaloe. After a much-desired pit stop at the Curaloe gift shop, we traveled just a couple more minutes down the road and pulled into our next destination, Serena’s Art Factory. A Chichi is a sensual, well-rounded Caribbean figure that represents the strong, happy and caring elder sister of a family. She is handmade and hand painted in bright Caribbean colors by craftsmen and painters at Serena’s. There I got to paint my own personal Chichi at a workshop led by the helpful, ever so friendly Suéanna who was more than happy to lend us a steady hand when it came to painting little details on our handmade figurines. Afterwards I had the pleasure of meeting the bubbly Serena who personally signed the bottom of my Chichi. Later that afternoon we met Dinah Veeris and enjoyed a walking trail through her beautiful garden to learn about healing herbs and

the cultural heritage of Curaçao. The exciting day rounded up with a thrilling game of the Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort’s brand new glow-in-thedark night putting experience. Immediately afterwards we headed next door to the resort’s helipad for a luxurious buffet dinner complete with exceptional live entertainment by the island’s popular reggae band, Uprising. My last day in Curaçao was spent almost entirely on property at the Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort and unsurprisingly, it was also one of the most relaxing. The morning began with another buffet breakfast before a few of my companions and I engaged in a peaceful aqua tai chi session in Sea Traditions pool. Fitness instructor, Juanina led the ancient technique as a bright orange troupial bird watched curiously from the trees. Paddleboarding along the gentle waters of the Caribbean Sea followed the tai chi experience before a quick, delicious bite at MEDI Restaurant also located on property.
the front deck to napping under the setting sun, sailing on the tranquil waters was the climax to a resort vacation that I didn’t think could get any more relaxing. My stay in Curaçao was full of the fun and activity I longed for, but only one thing made it possible to handle that much adventure everyday. It was having a place like Sea Traditions to come home to every evening. Having a plush king bed and luxurious pillows to rest my head on at night, a bathroom full of locally crafted products by Curaloe to use as generously as I desire and a lavish stay at a gorgeous, unforgettable resort that embraces the traditions of the sea and the island of Curaçao. Reclaim your vacation and start a new tradition by booking your own adventure at Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort’s Sea Traditions.

On Tuesday, July 15, OMEGA held an exclusive two-part event celebrating the launch of the landmark timepiece, the OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 11 45th Anniversary Limited Edition. The afternoon started with a media reception at the OMEGA Boutique at the Mall at Millenia and was followed by a private dinner at the Kennedy Space Center. The event—held in honor of the 45th Anniversary of the legendary moon landing— featured none other than famous astronaut and OMEGA brand ambassador Dr. Buzz Aldrin. For more than 45 years, Dr. Aldrin has been in partnership with the luxury Swiss watchmaker. The legendary astronaut wore the OMEGA Speedmaster on the lunar surface on July 20, 1969 during the landmark Apollo 11 space mission, thus making the OMEGA Speedmaster the first watch to be worn on the moon. The Stella & Dot Fall Collection Preview and Fashion Show is a beloved annual event looked forward to by many. On Thursday, July 17th, the 2014 show took place at the Marriott World Center. Media and VIP guest joined Stella & Dot CEO and Founder Jessica Herrin and Chief Creative Officer Blythe Harris for a fashion show of their latest designs in bags, jewelry and charming accessories. The special guest at the event was supermodel Christy Turlington Burns who was recently named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2014. In addition to having a fantastic time previewing the gorgeous collection, attendees also went home with fabulous gifts from the boutique-style social selling company.
It would seem July was the month of charitable events in Orlando! The philanthropic organization Guys With Ties returns to our In Case You Missed It list for the third time this year with their ninth annual “White Party” event. Held at Vanity, an impressive turnout of select guest arrived in their most stylish white attire and proceeded to have the time of their lives. The group was high energy and all smiles throughout the evening as they enjoyed great company and musical entertainment by renowned special guest DJ Magic Mike. Guys With Ties seek to raise money with local charities that focus on special needs of the Central Florida community. The proceeds raised from this successful evening were no exception. This year’s White Party proceeds benefited the Jobs Partnership of Florida.

Whether you loved your prom, hated it or missed it all together, MBGC gave adults the chance to do it all over again and make “new” prom memories with a twist! Themed “A Night in the Roaring 20’s,” this year’s prom included over 100 silent auction items, the crowing of a 2014 Prom King and Queen, and of course a live band and DJ to keep the dancing going all night long! The 2014 MBGC Prom benefited B.A.S.E Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation. On August 22nd, the Orlando Urban Music Festival took over the CFE Arena and brought with it a fantastic line-up of musical performances that were enjoyed by all. The event was headlined by Grammy Award Winning R&B superstar Anthony Hamilton. The festival also featured the likes of R&B stars Lyfe Jennings, Jazmine Sullivan, and Mali Music. Hilarious comedian Kevin “Damn Fool” Simpson hosted the packed event and kept the laughs coming all night long as several of urban music’s most beloved performers took stage at this highly anticipated show. < Know of a Not-To-Be Missed Event? BROKE
& FAMOUS
They had it all, but spent it all… and then some. By Riesa Pascal
Most of the population can only dream of achieving the wealth that today’s stars tend to rake in on a daily basis. Actors, musicians, athletes and dozens of other celebrities can—and often do—make millions of dollars off of being in the spotlight. Yet somehow we still manage to hear superstar[s] stories of financial woes and bankruptcy. For some like me, it might seem unfathomable that a celeb could drop the financial ball so horribly and so irreversibly fail at managing their finances. At the end of the day, however, they’re only human and for the following celebs, being human also means being broke as a joke.

DRAKE BELL
$581,000
Nickelodeon child star Drake Bell filed for bankruptcy in February of this year. At the young age of 27, Bell claimed he was in debt to the tune of $581,000. The former star of the hit children’s comedy show Drake & Josh listed the value of his house at $1.575 million, although he owes $1.597 million. According to court documents, Bell says his earnings are $2,820 a month, but his expenses total well over that at $18,771. Bell felt the financial hit hardest when his yearly earnings dropped from $408,000 in 2012, to only $14,099 in 2013. Bell is currently recording new music and has taken to touring in an effort to pay back his many bills and reclaim that lavish lifestyle that cost him so much.
JANICE DICKINSON
$1 MILLION
It appears not even models are safe from Uncle Sam! The “world’s first supermodel” Janice Dickinson filed for bankruptcy last year, owing $1 million. Over half of the 58 year-old’s bill was owed to the government and most of the remaining thousands is in checking overdraft fees and unpaid medical bills to her many plastic surgeons and dermatologists. “I am upset and taking every step to pay everyone back and I feel terrible about it,” said Dickinson during an interview about her debt troubles. On the bright side, City National Bank recently agreed to settle her $300k+ debt to them for just $100,000. Their reason? Her age and lack of assets will make it difficult for her to earn any money... Ouch!
AARON CARTER
$2 MILLION+ Pop star and former teen sensation Aaron Carter was deep in the hole when he filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in late 2013. According to legal documents, Carter’s assets totaled a measly $8,232.16, but he owed more than $2 million with over half of that belonging to the IRS. According to the singer’s representative, the majority of the debt is from more than 10 years ago when he was a minor and not in control of his finances. However, Carter’s story is one of the few here that does have a “happy” ending. After filing a bankruptcy petition and completing a credit counseling class and a course in personal finance management, a judge completely dismissed all of Carter’s debts earlier this year. Despite owing millions, the 26-year-old singer is now free to press the restart button on his life and hope for a better financial journey this time around. StyleToMe.com
36 - CELEBRITY SOUP
SINBAD
10 MILLION + David Adkins is the famous ‘90s comedian and actor better known as Sinbad and he is our second broke celebrity who has filed for bankruptcy twice. Sinbad’s first case was dismissed in 2009 due to filing incorrect documentation. He was able to file again for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last year after claiming he owes nearly $11 million with only $131,000 in assets. Sinbad broke down his bills as owing $374,979 to American Express, $32,199 to Bank of America, $2.3 million to the CA Franchise Tax Board, $8.3 million to the IRS for taxes from 1998-2006, as well as owing both state and federal taxes from 2009-2012. According to the bankruptcy docs, Sinbad earns only $16,000 per month and can’t afford to pay his bills. The 57 year old’s self-help book, “Sinbad’s Guide to Life” is currently for sale on Amazon for a few bucks each. Something tells me there won’t be much financial advice to be found in there though.
MC HAMMER
$13 MILLION Stanley Burrell, better known as MC Hammer, has become a “must-have” story in any list of celebs who went bankrupt. The award winning rapper shot to fame with hit tracks such as “U Can’t Touch This” and “2 Legit 2 Quit.” He became the first to have a diamond certified hip-hop album and his lifestyle began to reflect that rather quickly. Among other extravagant and lavish expenses, Hammer paid $9.3 million for a mansion in Northern California and then spent over twice that amount on custom features. Due to low album sales, debts, and the excessive lifestyle lived above his means, Hammer and his wife ultimately filed for Chapter 11 in 1996 and began the long process of paying back his debtors and the IRS. Fortunately the 52 year old knows that his high profile bankruptcy became a big joke and he has no shame in making fun of himself by appearing in self-deprecating commercials and poking fun at his situation on reality TV.
TONI BRAXTON
$18.3 MILLION Multi-grammy award winning artist Toni Braxton filed for bankruptcy twice, once in 1998 and again in 2010. The “Unbreak my heart” singer soon followed in the footsteps of many broke celebrities who have turned to reality television in a desperate attempt to make some extra cash. Last month, WE premiered the fourth season of Braxton’s show “Braxton Family Values” which is helping the 46 year old pay off some of her massive bills. $16 million out of her $18.3 million debt is owed to record labels although she has admitted to struggling with compulsive home shopping as well. Braxton, who also unfortunately suffers and struggles with Lupus, lost over $50 million after her illness prevented her from being able to perform scheduled shows in Las Vegas. <

SIMPLE CURES FOR GETTING MORE SLEEP By Emily Topper
> Ah, September. The kids are back in school, the weekends are packed with activities, and you’re running amuck trying to get everything done--even if it means sacrificing sleep. You know you’re supposed to get the recommended seven hours a night, but your life (and your brain) just aren’t allowing it. Luckily, we’ve got you covered.
Sure, the end of summer might make you a bit crankier than usual
Does that sound like you? If so, it’s time to start taking your health

seriously. Lack of sleep can lead to weight gain, depression, and
your sour mood may be related to your lack of sleep. Those who

schedule is important, but it’s not worth the health risks and mood changes that insomnia can cause. But don’t worry, these tips and tricks are sure to help you finally catch some z’s.

HEALTH & BEAUTY - 53
First (and we know you don’t want to hear this), you need to cut the caffeine. Stick to a cup of your favorite brew in the morning, but halt all coffee consumption after lunch. If you’re a regular Starbucks junkie, you may feel like your venti triple-shot latte only gave you enough energy for one hour. In actuality, your first cup of caffeine is more than enough to get you through the day, whether or not you want to admit it. On average, one cup of coffee should stay in your system for around seven to eight hours--enough to get you out of bed and through your workday. Same rules apply to you, soda and energy drinkers: One and done.
So you’ve cut the caffeine, but an after-hours drink at your favorite pub won’t cause any harm, right? Wrong. Ladies, this one’s especially for you: Cut out the bedtime booze. While men can toss back a beer before bed and sleep like a baby, studies show that women who do the same have a harder time sleeping. If you simply must have a substitute, try a room temperature glass of water or a cup of warm milk.
Chances are, your workday isn’t quite over when you leave the office. Between picking up the kids from school, going to your dentist appointment and making dinner, you hardly have time to think. As difficult as it may be, take some time for yourself when you get home--even it’s just for a few minutes. Put a hold on all distractions to read a chapter of your favorite book or hop on the treadmill for thirty minutes. In addition to helping you destress, this personal time is perfect for winding down before you climb into bed.
Before your head hits the pillow at night, make sure your bedroom is your sanctuary. Turn off your phone completely before getting under the covers--your emails and Instagram will have to wait. If your phone is your wake-up call, that could be part of the problem. Switch off your favorite digital device in exchange for an actual alarm clock. Sleeping is sure to be easier when you aren’t waiting for the next text or Facebook like. But don’t just stop at your phone: Turn off your iPod, laptop and tablet, too. While you would think that straining your eyes would make them more tired, keeping your laptop open means you’ll spend more time on Netflix instead of in dreamland.
Unfortunately, shutting off the phone doesn’t necessarily mean that your brain turns off as well. If you toss and turn half the night while thinking about everything you have to do the next day, you may need a fresh scent to help you unwind. Worried about starting a new job or the state of your finances? Sniff some valerian root. Convinced that car repair will totally empty your savings? Try some lavender oil. These aromas will relax your mind so that you can finally get some sleep.
Aromas aren’t only used for helping you sleep at night. If you’re still struggling to hold up your eyelids at work the next morning, some natural scents will give you a little pick-me-up (no, it’s not the coffee bean--keep dreaming). Pop a peppermint in your mouth or squeeze a few drops of lemon into your ice water at lunch for an energy burst. This is the healthy way to keep you moving forward, especially if you’re sure you won’t last another 30 minutes without a Red Bull. And yeah, you might not need that triple-shot latte after all! <

Ariana Grande One Less Problem By Courtney Caggiano
> With her 2014 hit single, “Problem,”
Ariana Grande has transformed herself from a teen acting sensation into one of pop music’s most talked about talents. A Florida native, Ariana Grande was raised in Boca Raton, where she began acting and singing at the age of six. Kicking off her career on the Nickelodeon children’s sitcom, Victorious, Grande had found herself in the role of a teen idol well before the start of her music career, with nearly 15 million Twitter followers and a spinoff television series, Sam & Cat.

> Michael Mills graduated from FSU College of Law in 2000 and went on to work for one of the largest insurance defense firms in Florida. After 6 years of insurance defense work, he switched sides to work at a mid-size firm for 2 years. Then in 2008, he started his first firm, Graham & Mills, Attorneys at Law, LLC, with a friend and law school colleague. They ran a successful personal injury and criminal defense firm for 6 years. This year Mr. Mills turned his attention to launching his own firm, Law Offices of Michael A. Mills, LLC also known as the “The Injury Assistance Law Firm.” Like the name indicates, the Injury Assistance Law Firm focuses on assisting individuals who have been injured through no fault of their own; to make sure they are fairly compensated for their injuries. “Many people believe that the insurance company will do the right thing and take care of them accordingly. Unfortunately, as I have seen far too many times, an individual’s wellbeing isn’t the insurance company’s top priority.” When that happens, Mr. Mills wants people to know that his firm is here to help them navigate the very confusing and time consuming process of filing a claim. His staff consists of an associate attorney, and office manager, 2 paralegals, and a marketer, as well as a case manager in his satellite office located in Winter Haven, Florida. Mr. Mills continues to be involved in the community. His firm sponsors many community events and gives money to many of the local charities. Central Florida has a huge Caribbean market, which Mr. Mills is a part of, being from St. Croix, U.S.V.I. and proudly represents whenever he can. Already this year, the Injury Assistance Law Firm, has been proud sponsors at the Caribbean American Heritage Month Festival at Lake Eola, the Haitian Flag Day Festival at the Central Florida Fairgrounds, the Corporate 5K Run/Walk event in downtown Orlando, and plans to sponsor many other upcoming events. Mr. Mills looks to grow his practice to the point where he can serve even more clients and bring them the assistance they need, in their time of need. His main office is in Orlando, at 823 N. Thornton Ave, Orlando, Florida 32803 and a satellite office in Winter Haven Florida at 20 3rd Street SW, Winter Haven, Florida 33880. He and his firm strive to be strong members of the community, and a firm that will be around for many years.

ORLANDO’S LEGAL ELITE - 73
> Business wise, Orlando has evolved from simply being a melting pot of individuals determined to do better than the generation before to being one of the top 10 locations for business in this country. Making it one of the hottest markets in the nation for business and professional growth is the region’s young, diverse, and educated workforce. This generation of passionate professionals like Attorney Coretta Smith of Anthony-Smith Law, is driving the business community with innovative thinking and a competitive advantage. Working hard and proving herself is what Coretta Smith has done since deciding to become an attorney at a young age and envisioning owning a law firm. Contending with everyone as a child, argumentative and speculative, Coretta seemed to be a natural for the courtroom. But at the age of 7, a destiny-defining moment would further shape Coretta’s life and her perspective. Molding her indomitable spirit for matriculation through the corridors of some of the country’s most prominent legal and academic societies would be the drunk driving accident that claimed her mother’s life. Adding insult to injury was the minimal sentence handed down to the driver due to a technicality. Even more incomprehensible for a child her age, was the fluidity with which the driver continued his life…little interruption and nominal consequence. Devastated, but committed to comprehend the legal process, young Coretta became an attorney at heart before ever entering the halls of a law school. After graduating from Georgetown University, Coretta entered the work force and was almost side-tracked from her goal of practicing law; except practicing law was purpose fueled by passion. A few years later, Coretta was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law. Her intelligence, workethic, and legal expertise prepared her to obtain a Juris Doctor and subsequently a license to practice Florida law in 1999. After law school, Coretta served on the legal defense team of two prominent law firms representing several major insurance carriers. Practicing with prudence, dedication, and aggression, in 2004 Coretta moved to the opposite side of the courtroom to represent consumers and individuals in claims against insurance companies. Her desire
to see the underrepresented receive a fair opportunity in the litigation process was the motivation for Coretta’s change in focus, as she sought to give a voice to individuals who otherwise may not have their interests met in the legal process. In 2007, Coretta established AnthonySmith Law with only one other employee, her cousin, Carla Anthony. Carla’s engineering background and MBA from the University of Houston qualify her to oversee the firm’s operations, including a staff of more than 10 employees. The Anthony-Smith team is as diverse as the firm’s clientele; speaking Spanish, French and Creole. A degree of the firm’s success is attributed to the multilingual, cross-cultural composition of the team. Coretta also attributes her success to the love and support of her husband, whose understanding was paramount especially in the firm’s beginning, as the hours were long and weekends were dedicated to the firm’s affairs. Anthony-Smith Law focuses on representing people against insurance companies in various insurance disputes; including but not limited to, property damage claims, homeowner’s claims, personal injury protection claims and wrongful denial of coverage claims. The firm also represents individuals who have been injured in automobile accidents, slip and falls, medical malpractice claimants and nursing home neglect. The firm has recently expanded into immigration, foreclosure defense and business litigation. Coretta Smith is licensed to practice law in all counties in the State of Florida, as well as the Federal Courts for the Northern, Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. She also served on the Florida Bar’s Small Claims Rules Committee from 2008 - 2014. Coretta acknowledges the necessity of philanthropic support to fortify communities and strengthen families. She gives back through her involvement in many charitable events, including her engagement as a board member of Saving Our Sons, an organization dedicated to strengthening male leadership in underprivileged areas. As a result of her efforts, Coretta has received several awards and recognitions for her community service and the generous sponsorship donations provided by Anthony-Smith Law, P.A. <

LORENA CARDAMA The Cardama Law Group, P.A. > “It has been both a surprise and an honor to have been voted as Orlando’s top Family Law Attorney of 2014 by my peers. It is reverent to know that in spite of having to work with other attorneys on opposite sides, we are all still able to respect each other’s efforts, dedication and passion for the profession. I am humbled by the recognition.” Ms. Lorena Cardama was born in Mexico and her family migrated to Florida when she was 7 years old in pursuit of the American dream. From a young age, she had to learn English dedicating herself to her studies. Her hard work paid off, she graduated from St. Cloud High School at the age of 16 and received her Bachelor’s in Sociology and a Minor in Psychology from Stetson University in 2003. Ms. Cardama pursued her passion becoming the youngest law student enrolled in Barry University, at the age of 20. While in College and in Law School, Ms. Cardama worked full time at a local law firm which taught her a foundation of law that she still uses today. She opened her own firm, “The Cardama Law Group, P.A” in 2009, where she dedicated herself primarily to Family Law. In 2014 she was awarded the Osceola County Teen Court Pro Bono Award from the Community Legal Services of Mid Florida. “I am a strong believer that family comes first, I work hard all day, but when I get home it is time for my family. It is important that my daughters feel that they are my priority. As I practice what I preach, I tell my clients that all their choices should be made by putting the best interest of the children first. I am now happily married and as a blended family (or your new “Modern Family”) it is important for my husband and me to spend as much quality time with our children by traveling and teaching them world cultures and still be able to balance our family time with our professional careers,” states Ms. Cardama. <

Matthew also acts as legal counsel to Dancing for Diabetes, Inc., a non-profit organization that raises money for the American Diabetes Association by putting on an annual dance performance showcasing dozens of dance teams. Additionally, Matthew serves on the advisory board for matters such as event planning, fund raising, and advertising. His goal this year is for Dancing for Diabetes to raise $50,000. When speaking about the event, Matthew said “It’s going to be an exciting show with some amazing performances. I hope everyone can make it out and support a great cause.” <

ORLANDO’S LEGAL ELITE - 83
> From 1973 to 1980, Mark Horwitz was an Assistant United States Attorney. While representing the United States he prosecuted all types of cases including Medicare fraud, tax evasion, wire and mail fraud, fraud against the government, drugs and the murder of the Gotha Postmaster. The opportunity to prosecute these and other crimes provided Mr. Horwitz a solid basis to vigorously defend people under investigation for or charged with serious crime in both federal and state court. Since 1980, Mark has been in private practice in Orlando. He has defended people throughout Florida and the United States. Defending complex federal crimes has been a major part of his practice. He has also defended clients in state criminal matters involving white collar crimes, theft, bribery and state sales tax. In non-white collar cases, he has defended clients in matters involving vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident with death, murder, drugs, child pornography, sex crimes and other offenses. Mark Horwitz is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Criminal Trial Advocate and by The Florida Bar as a specialist in Criminal Trial Law. He has the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards by Martindale-Hubbel. In addition to the preeminent rating in Martindale-Hubbel, he is listed in Best Lawyers in America and Florida Super Lawyers. Mr. Horwitz is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Horwitz believes that defending a person’s liberty is the most important responsibility an attorney can undertake. In protecting a client’s freedom, Mark’s philosophy is that no stone is left unturned, all facts are thoroughly investigated, legal issues fully developed and all actions legally and ethically possible are undertaken for the defense. The lawyers and paralegals that work at the Horwitz firm help him carry out these principles. Horwitz utilizes a team concept of lawyers and Florida Bar Registered Paralegals in conjunction with modern technology when investigating, organizing evidence and building a strong defense. Criminal investigations, especially involving white collar crimes, can take months or years. In pre-indictment investigations, the goal is to conduct a thorough defense investigation aimed at developing the facts to convince law enforcement and prosecutors that criminal charges are not warranted. By preventing criminal charges, the client is able to avoid the humiliation and emotional stress associated with indictment and arrest. In some
cases it is not possible to prevent the filing of criminal charges. In those situations the prearrest defense investigation is important to a vigorous defense at trial. Criminal tax defense has always been a part of Mr. Horwitz’s practice. He has represented professionals such as doctors, dentists, architects, athletes, as well as business owners and individuals under investigation and charged with violating criminal tax laws. He has tried many criminal tax cases and has been able to persuade the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Justice to close investigations without prosecution. Mark Horwitz has also helped many clients with unreported offshore bank accounts enter and complete the Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program, thereby avoiding federal arrest and criminal prosecution and reducing civil monetary penalties. It is not unusual to deal with tens of thousands of documents and hundreds of gigabytes of computer data in white collar cases. To control such massive amounts of evidence, Horwitz utilizes the paralegals and the attorneys that work in his firm as well as cutting edge technology. Although important, Mark believes that “there is no substitute for experience, hard work and diligence to accomplish the goal of defending liberty.” Bar Admissions • Supreme Court of the United States • United States Court of Appeals - Eleventh Circuit - Fifth Circuit - Federal Circuit - District of Columbia Court of Appeals • All United States District Courts in Florida - Florida Bar - Colorado Bar - District of Columbia Bar

ORLANDO’S LEGAL ELITE - 87
> Whenever I am introduced to a person for the first time the conversation inevitably goes “What do you do for a living”? My response is that I am an attorney. Naturally the next question is “What kind of attorney?” I proudly respond, I am a criminal defense attorney and have been one for the past twenty five (25) years. The next statement is almost always the same: “How can you defend those people?” In the over 25 years practicing criminal law I have met only a small handful of defendants who are inherently evil or malicious. I then explain that “those” people are regular, “normal” everyday people and that the cases that the media and television present are the exceptions and not the rule. What I have come to discover is that most people have encountered the criminal justice system due to an addiction whether it is drugs and/or alcohol or have acted in a manner due to an error of judgment or lapse in judgment. • Imagine that you are driving home from working a long day at your job, possibly a double shift, & you are extremely fatigued. An officer observes your vehicle swerving over the road and riding on the curb. The Officer effectuates a stop on the vehicle and jumps to the conclusion that you are operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. The Officer conducts a DUI investigation and then places you under arrest for this offense. Are you not entitled to a proper defense? Are you not entitled to present your evidence? Should the Court just convict you on the Officers’ observations and opinions alone? • Imagine Police Officers appear at your home and ask you to step outside. They present you with an arrest warrant and without any prior notice you are placed under arrest, handcuffed, put in the back of a patrol car and taken to jail. The charges are unknown to you until you appear before a Judge at first appearance. The State charges you with Grand Theft. Someone you do not know has filed a police report alleging that you stole property several months prior and that you are the party responsible for this offense. To quote a well known television program: In the criminal justice system the people are represented by 2 separate yet equally important groups; the police
who investigate the crime and the district attorney who prosecute the offenders. I would add a third group vital to the criminal justice system: that of the CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY. It is the criminal defense attorneys’ function to protect a persons’ constitutional rights; to ensure that a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and to give each and every defendant an opportunity to present a defense and hold the State up to its burden of proof. My sole responsibility as a criminal defense attorney is to treat each and every defendant as a person who is entitled to an aggressive defense of their rights. I consider it my obligation to protect a persons’ freedom and liberty with the utmost care and in doing so to provide a defendant with the best legal representation that I can. My mission is to work hard to preserve my clients rights, their interests and successfully navigate them through the entire legal process while keeping them informed every step of the way. HISTORY: I am a graduate of Brooklyn Law School. I was a Public Defender with the New York City Public Defender’s office where I was responsible for defending indigent clients charged with multiple criminal offenses. I relocated to the State of Florida and secured employment as a Prosecutor in Seminole County. In 2000 I decided to return to the practice of criminal law that I truly enjoyed; that of defending people. I have diligently represented thousands of people in both Federal and State court level. It is my passion and belief that all people regardless of financial status are entitled to an aggressive defense and therefore, I accept payment plans for my clients. On a personal level when I am not running from court to the jails and meeting with clients, I juggle three children; one who just started college, a daughter in the 8th grade and a daughter in 4th grade. The busier I am the happier and more productive I am. • Member of the New York Bar • Member of the Florida Bar • Member of the Middle District of Florida • Member of the American Bar Association • Member of Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers <

JOHN ELLIOTT LEIGHTON “Crusader for victims of serious injuries” Personal Injury and Wrongful Death/Medical Malpractice > John Leighton is unlike most lawyers. He doesn’t seek out cases. They seek him out. For over 25 years he has represented people who have been seriously injured and families of those killed by negligence. But his cases don’t usually come from the public. They come from other lawyers. That’s because Leighton is referred the serious, complex and catastrophic cases from around the state. He is seen as the go-to trial lawyer for major personal injury cases such as medical malpractice, serious trucking and car crashes, resort injuries, violent crime/negligent security injuries and product liability cases. His track record for Central Florida clients is remarkable. He won a record setting $24 million verdict for a child who suffered a terrible medical mistake in Altamonte. He recently won another $24 million verdict for the family of slain Orlando police officer Al Gordon, who was robbed off duty at an ATM. While many of Leighton’s cases garner media attention, in most cases his clients are ordinary people who have had something terrible happen to them. Like the $5.5 million recovery for the family of a man who was electrocuted in his own pool, or the $3 million for the Citrus County children of a woman who bled to death when her doctor abandoned her.

Leighton’s passion for helping families who have lost their loved ones has resulted in remarkable outcomes. The Orlando family of a teen who was killed in a drunken boating incident hired Leighton, who obtained a $1.35 million recovery. He won an $8 million award for the parents of a teen whose daughter was killed when a truck made an illegal u-turn on the turnpike.

His success in obtaining the highest recoveries for crash victims includes $1 million for a boy injured in an Orlando taxi, and the Orlando man he represented whose motorcycle was hit by a pickup, with Leighton recovering $3.5 million for him. A few months ago Leighton won a $7.4 million verdict in Osceola County for a man who lost his leg when a trucker hit his SUV in thick fog and smoke. After representing victims of parasailing tragedies, Leighton and his client fought for passage of the country’s first law regulating the industry following a 7 year battle. The law passed in 2014. A board certified trial lawyer, Leighton is considered one of the foremost experts in negligent security litigation (people injured from a criminal assault). He is the author of the textbook “Litigating Premises Security Cases,” lectures around the world, and is the Chairman of Inadequate Security Litigation for the American Trial Lawyers. He recently trained 85 crime victim advocates at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on how to help victims of crime. Recognized by his peers as being at the very top of this his field, for 8 years he has been chosen as one of the Top 100 in Florida SuperLawyers, has been repeatedly included in Florida Trend magazine’s “Florida Legal Elite,” and listed for 8 consecutive years in The Best Lawyers in America. He received his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Florida. When he is not in court fighting for his clients, he tries to find time to ski, bike and enjoy classic cars. <

LYLE B. MAZIN,ESQ. Experience, Knowledge & Strong Character > While Hollywood has been sensationalizing the practice of criminal law with fictional lawyers such as “you better call Saul,” the truth of matter is, that if in reality you are facing criminal prosecution, you better dial Lyle. Lyle B. Mazin is a criminal trial attorney whose success in the courtroom has vaulted him to the forefront of the legal community. A reputation built on his ferocious yet charismatic litigation skills has earned Lyle the respect of his colleagues, prosecutors and judges alike. He is named a Top 100 Trial Lawyer and a Top 40 under 40 Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers Association. In addition, he was selected as Florida’s Legal Elite and designated a SuperLawyer’s “Rising Star,” a recognition received by less than 2.5% of the lawyers in the State of Florida. Lyle is also a sought after legal commentator frequently providing legal analysis to local and national media outlets such as ABC, FOX News, The Orlando Sentinel and the Wall Street Journal. One of the most approachable attorneys you may ever meet, Lyle is witty and quick with a joke but he works in a world where the consequences are no laughing matter. With a client list that consists of individuals charged with crimes such as homicide, RICO, armed robbery, drug trafficking, gun and sex crimes, he is often the only thing standing between his clients and decades in prison. To provide those clients with the highest caliber of representation Lyle’s firm utilizes investigators, experts and the most advanced legal research systems available.
“The practice of law is dynamic. Before ever stepping foot in a courtroom you need to be beyond certain to have exhausted every resource available. If you have left a single stone unturned, your client might be one step behind the prosecution and that is one place I will never allow my clients to be.” Lyle’s tales of drugs and guns might be mesmerizing but he also has a passion for representing first time offenders. He frequently represents first time offenders, such as college students, who have never been exposed to the criminal justice system. The prospect of a criminal conviction can be traumatizing for these individuals and their families. “First time offenders are often good people who had a bad day, or worse yet, people who have been wrongfully accused. No one’s future should be destroyed because of one bad decision and there is no greater challenge than representing the innocent. My father, who is an Attorney in New York, embedded in me the steadfast commitment to stand for those who cannot stand for themselves.” Combine his vast trial experience with his strong character and it is easy to see why Lyle Mazin is the attorney so many seek to have standing by their side. Having earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida State University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law, Lyle Mazin has quickly become one of the most recognizable names in the practice of criminal law. <

In 1990, Mr. Scott moved to Miami to attend Law School at St. Thomas University. During his first semester, Mr. Scott tied for first in his class, won the 1L Moot Court Competition, and was appointed to Law Review. Mr. Scott followed up on these honors by interning with Judge Lenore Nesbitt, Federal Judge for the Southern District of Florida, and then with the Federal Public Defender’s Office, Appellate Division, working under Paul Rashkind. In 1993 Mr. Scott moved to Orlando to begin the two major jobs of his life: working as an Assistant Public Defender under Joseph DuRocher, and becoming a father. Mr. Scott’s daughter was born and raised in Orlando. She is currently attending college here in town. Upon deciding that being a new father was incompatible with his more extreme hobbies, Mr. Scott dedicated his after work hours to training in Martial Arts under Grandmaster Y.K. Kim. After four years with the Orange County Public Defender’s Office, winning awards and recognition for his skills in the courtroom, Mr. Scott left to open his own firm. In May of 2005, his wife, Catherine Medling, joined him to found the law firm of Scott & Medling, devoted solely to the practice of criminal defense law. The firm handles cases large and small, for a variety of clients. Some notable cases in which Mr. Scott has achieved favorable outcomes include representing people in the music industry, sports figures, a doctor whose case was profiled on The Nancy Grace show, and a soldier who returned from Afghanistan to face unfounded sexual battery charges. Mr. Scott has enabled all of these clients to continue to pursue productive lives outside of the criminal justice system. Throughout his professional career, Mr. Scott has continued his martial arts training. In 2008, at the age of 49, Mr. Scott spent a month in the jungle of southern Thailand training to become a Muay Thai kickboxer. Approved to fight professionally, it took the death of a popular princess and the resulting cancellation of every fight in the country, to prevent Mr. Scott from entering the ring. Today, Mr. Scott continues training with Grandmaster Y.K. Kim and protecting his clients. He can be found training, teaching martial arts, performing at Central Florida events, and, of course, in courtrooms throughout the state of Florida. <

He began his legal career on the staff of the General Counsel to the United States Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During his career at the U.S. Steel Corporation, he obtained substantial experience in litigating complex commercial cases. He has tried complex commercial cases in Pennsylvania, California, Illinois, West Virgina, Florida and District of Columbia. Sheehe is a native of Marion, Ohio, though he attended college as an undergraduate at the University of Florida, where he graduated with a degree in finance and was awarded a swimming scholarship. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee in 1974. During his time at the University of Tennessee, Sheehe served as the editor of the Tennessee Law Review and received the Order of the Coif in recognition of outstanding scholarship. In 1978, Sheehe moved to Miami. Sheehe has tried numerous complex jury trials, including a trial that exceeded six months in duration. Sheehe continues to represent both major corporations and individuals in trials throughout the United States in state and federal courts. The firm maintains offices in Miami and Lake Mary.
Why did you become an attorney? UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL I like the competition. I was a competitive swimmer at the University of Florida for my four years there; my favorite stroke was the butterfly. I’m extremely comfortable in the courtroom. I really like it; it’s fun. What do you like best about the practice of law? I like winning and I’m good at it. Being in the courtroom fighting for my clients brings me a lot of pleasure. Not many people hire a trial attorney to “do their best;” they hire them to win. That’s what we do and we do it well. I’m tough in the courtroom, but I can leave it behind. I’m friendly with most of my opponents because I can “leave it in the courtroom.” Most of my trials are long and complex and can take months of being in court. Personal: Born in Marion, Ohio, October 7, 1948; came to Florida to swim for the University of Florida varsity swim team; married for 39 years; has two grown daughters; participates in U.S. Master Swimming for adults; has show horses that he keeps in Ocala. Miscellaneous: Firm founded in 1982; main office is in Miami; Central Florida office opened in 2006. <

Travis points to his paralegal of ten years, Lawanda, as an integral part in making sure no stone is left unturned. On behalf of his clients, Travis has tried multiple jury trials in both State and Federal Courts. Travis’s dedication to his client and craft has not gone unnoticed. Rich Hues of Autumn By Cathleen K. Bode
> Fall is a delightful time of year. When summer wanes and the temperature drops, the brilliant colors of the ocean and beach are replaced with the rich hues of autumn. We welcome the cooler days of the fall with renewed energy and an appetite for heartier flavors. The dishes we serve tend to be richer –beef bourguignon instead of a grilled flat iron steak, pasta with butternut squash and Parmesan instead of pasta primavera. The same is true for the cocktails we enjoy and serve. In the fall, our taste preference tends to favor cocktails created with dark spirits that have been layered with flavor. Sure there will always be a Classic Manhattan or Old Fashioned Cocktail that hits the spot every time but the autumn cocktails here showcase fruits and spices that are fall forward. Think cinnamon, nutmeg and yes, even apples, pears and pumpkin. These are perfect seasonal partners for bourbons, ryes and whiskeys. “Cocktails have become a creative canvas for bartenders and mixologists,” says Troy Ball, Distiller and Owner, Asheville Distilling. “Where

syrups and sauces were once the domain of the chef and pastry chef, today’s mixologists infuse and smoke their base spirit and then use it as a canvas for creative cocktail offerings,” she added. Jim Rutledge, Master Distiller, Four Roses Bourbon adds, “Bourbon is riding a wave of popularity right now. It’s important to find the expression you like and unlike women – you shouldn’t be monogamous. You might enjoy one style neat on the first chilly night of autumn and another in a cocktail for Thanksgiving or when you are cheering your college team on the field. It’s important to experiment,” says Rutledge who’s been making bourbon for more than 40 years.
“
WE WELCOME THE COOLER DAYS OF THE FALL WITH RENEWED ENERGY AND AN APPETITE FOR HEARTIER FLAVORS.
“

Don’t forget to try cocktails, especially the classics, as an accompaniment to your meal. “We think of pairing wine with courses but pay attention to a well made cocktail,” says Scott Bush, founder of Templeton Rye. “We’ve been doing dinners across the country with chefs and mixologists showcasing specially bred heritage pigs and the cocktails presented are creative and complimentary. As crafts spirits have evolved and grown in numbers so have the cocktail possibilities,” he added. While we are talking about cocktails and food, don’t forget the word balance. You wouldn’t want to have an ingredient in your cocktail that takes over the entire cocktail, let alone the entire meal. Herbal liqueurs and amaro can also add a nice finishing touch to a cocktail but start with a drop instead of five and don’t forget the bitters – the finely crafted nuances of flavor that bring out the best in a cocktail. Ready to dive into fall? These cocktails are crowd pleasers. And don’t forget, there’s nothing better on a rainy, windy fall day than enjoying a great movie or book with a cocktail at hand. <

PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY IS NOT EXPENSIVE.
NEGLECT IS EXPENSIVE.
Patient above after whitening, orthodontics & periodontics treatment.
> Have you lost a tooth? If you were six it would be a big deal. You might even find a little cash under your pillow in the morning. But if you’re an adult that cash will be leaving instead of arriving.
factor adults really don’t lose their teeth to decay as much as you would think. The number one reason for tooth loss in adults is not fractured teeth or cavities; it is periodontal disease.
Any number of reasons can cause tooth loss: Traumatic injury, decay, accidental fracture, periodontal disease. Some people simply have congenitally missing teeth. Whatever the reason, missing teeth need to be restored to improve overall health and wellbeing. Prevention of tooth loss is where to start.
Periodontal disease (gum disease) can be a chronic slowly progressing infection that affects the supporting structures of our teeth. Once a sufficient amount of supportive loss has occurred the teeth loosen. Sadly, when it gets to this point treatment is not helpful and the teeth need to be removed. Certain health conditions like diabetes may make one more susceptible to gum disease. The effect of tobacco, both smoking and smokeless, can be devastating on the periodontal health. The most common cause however is simple neglect.
How can you prevent tooth loss? Preventive care is the number one aide. Paul Harvey once said that dentists were the only professionals who were trying to put themselves out of business. We can’t prevent congenitally missing teeth from occurring, but with the help of the general dentist and orthodontist gaps in you smile can be closed or repaired. Your oral surgeon and periodontist can help with the placement of dental implants. We can’t prevent traumatic injuries, but the use of mouth guards and helmets in sports, and the use of seat belts and restraints in cars will hopefully minimize facial and dental injuries.
Poor hygiene routines at home can cause more tooth loss than any other reason. Simple flossing a brushing as directed by your dentist and hygienist can save thousands of dollars and countless hours in the dentist chair. Seeing your dentist twice a year for professional cleaning and evaluation is a wise healthy life choice. Do yourself a service and seen your dentist regularly. You’ll save money in the long run. <
A diet low in sugar will help to eliminate tooth decay. Although it is a common In closing as a general dentist it is imperative that I work with a team of experts and these professionals are part of my team.

KIM HAWK Realtor > Thank you Orlando for over 25 beautiful years in this Amazing City! I have had the pleasure of being the downtown Orlando Partnership President while working as the Public Relations/ Promotions Director for Church Street Station, way back in the day when we hosted World Cup Soccer. I enjoyed serving several years as a marketing executive with Universal and Walt Disney World, during that time we lived in the Windermere area. My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year and our maid of honor Luann Brooks is now the Executive Director at International Drive Improvement District so it has been wonderful seeing that area grow and prosper. I’ve grown up and worked alongside powerhouses and they are all now super leaders. What a joy to see positive intention go into continuing to grow a strong and vibrant community.

When Disney’s town of Celebration was announced my family decided to put our names into the lottery system. We then became founders of the town and I activated my real estate license with RE/ MAX. Over the course of the last 16 years I’ve been blessed with growing my real estate business into one of the top 1% Nationwide real estate teams and we recently sold one of the highest priced homes in Central Florida for $6,300,000. So, what do we consider to be the reason for our success? Loving our job. Trying our best every time. Having previously worked in Central Florida’s major hubs it’s easier for me to listen to buyer’s needs and find that perfect home for them. I do feel like I know Orlando like the back of my hand.
SPECIAL PROMOTIONAL FEATURE
My listings always have first priority with me and are always on my team’s radar list. We have think tanks on how to best attract the best buyer to our homes. We start at the end. What does the finish line look like? We then work backwards in order to complete a full circle. It’s a different approach but it has worked very well for us. It is a true blessing when you see things come full circle. It is somewhat ironic that most of my life has been in a city that starts with the letter O – which in fact is a full circle. As an example, having worked with Juliana at Church Street Station some 20 years ago I remembered her work ethic and skill set working with the Brazilian market. So when the Brazilian buyers started showing up in full force guess who I asked to head up my real estate marketing arm? Guess who bought our 6.3 million estate? Strategy is one of the best parts of our business. If I can ever serve you or yours please email me at kimhawk07@ gmail.com Kim resides in Celebration Florida with her husband Rod who works for Walt Disney World and daughter Ashlee who works for Universal Studios. She has a bonus son, Chris, who is an executive recruiter. Kim is the female lead singer for CEONEO band which can be heard on Itunes. Kim attends Disney’s Community Presbyterian Church where she leads contemporary music service on Thursday nights at 7:30 pm. She invites you to attend a worship service. God Bless you and yours. <
