> It seems like most of the country can’t catch a break with the weather these days especially with the northeast getting pummeled with record snowfalls and flooding rains. It’s almost unimaginable that within the past few months we have experienced ‘Sandy’ almost demolishing eastern seaboard communities thrusting thousands of our fellow citizens into ‘tent-city’ living environments. Next, there is ‘Nemo’ dumping over two feet of snow accompanied with high winds, crippling huge swaths of New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, etc. with blizzard conditions putting thousands more without power for who-knows-howlong.

Despite experiencing mostly insignificant daily problems, those of us just a short distance south of these areas quickly transition into sun and warmth. Although seemingly oblivious to the hardships encountered by our northern neighbors, we truly feel their pain as many of us have friends, relatives and acquaintances struggling through some much tougher times. So, we are thankful that we awaken most mornings looking forward to a new day, browsing thru the latest ‘Style’ magazine content and welcoming spring with open arms. Being able to enjoy the best weather period of the year is something we get to cherish and love every minute of…. perhaps a bit unfair in comparative terms but welcomed nonetheless.

Closer to home, our area continues to experience growth. Shops are doing incredibly great in selling their products and services, the real estate market has returned with strength and touts the lowest inventory in a very long time. The stock market continues to confound by setting new highs since 2007 and threatens to go even higher, fueled by generally higher business income reporting and a more relaxed atmosphere in which people are becoming less afraid to spend again. Our position continues to be supportive of facing a brighter future as we shun the bad news reporting coming from the multitude of so-called ‘experts’.... an entitlement which is reserved for only a few.

As soon as spring rolls around there’s no more hiding behind our winter wardrobe. Lets face it; we all slack on our diets and workouts during the winter because EVERYONE looks better in winter clothing. Well, most of us anyway.

There are the lucky few who look perfect in a bathing suit no matter what the season, how old, or how many children they’ve had.

More specifically, I am speaking of some of our beloved Hollywood celebs that look good 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. However, for all the hot celeb bods out there, there are just as many not so hot ones. Let’s take a look at who has kept up with their fantastic physique year-round and whom we would actually prefer to keep their clothes on while laying poolside.

We’ll begin on a positive note- with the celebs we definitely want to see strip down this spring.

Jennifer Aniston is the definition of a classic beauty with a body that every woman desires to obtain. Aside from an obviously good gene pool, Jennifer keeps up her perfect physique with much hard work. Thanks to her long time wellness trainer and yoga instructor, Mandy Ingber, Jennifer is a 43-yearold woman who could pass as a twenty-five year-old any day. Her trick is to indulge in a combination of yoga, spinning and toning exercises. Not to forget the importance she emphasizes on developing a strong connection between her mind and body. She strives to have balance in all aspects in her life and keep a healthy outlook when it comes to her busy career and personal life.

Jada Pinkett Smith is one, drop dead gorgeous mama of three. It is truly amazing that between her career and family she can find the time to keep herself looking perfect. It seems we have her mom to thank for that. Ever since Jada was a child she has been physically active. Her mom always had her enrolled in some type of activity like gymnastics, dance or horseback riding. Jada has inherited that parenting tool from her mother and has past it on to her own kids, meaning sitting at home on weekends is never an option for the Pinkett-Smith household. Aside from working-out together, the family loves to go surfing or snowboarding as a means to exercise and have fun.

Audrina Patridge knows that living in Southern California means it is always bikini season and lucky for her, her body is always bikini ready. This 27-year-old actress and

What is most bizarre is her secret to working out her calves and butt at home; she wears heels while vacuuming!

Cars for the Cure

> In true Orlando Style, the month of February held an event for just about everyone, from fabulous cocktail parties to car festivals – We revved up our engines and kicked off the list of events with the 9th annual Cars for The Cure on February 9th at the always-beautiful Colonial Town Park in Lake Mary. The charitable event was hosted by the American Lung Association of Florida and let’s just say – it was unlike any other. Car lovers from all over central Florida came to admire the exotic wheels that were up for display from Lamborghini, Bugatti Veyron, Porsche and Ashton Martin to name a few. Over 150 cars lined the streets of Colonial Town Park. The event, which catered to automotive enthusiasts, is the largest charitable car show in the Southeast United States and it was definitely one for the books. Proceeds from the day long, family festival benefited the American Lung Association of Central Florida. The showcase didn’t end there, for all registered participants, there was a Sunday Drive held, a tradition at the Cars for the Cure event.

display offering a view at the extraordinary apparel for women from dawn until dusk from February 9th to February 12th. Attendees were treated to refreshments while browsing through the latest trends and upscale fashions from the inspired luxury and lifestyle brand that is noted for their sophisticated styling and use of elegant fabrics. To top it all off we enjoyed prizes, giveaways, and complementary hors’ devours and drinks. The show also encouraged event goers to bring their gently used professional apparel for donation to the Dress for Success Greater Orlando.

The fashion trend continued on with the always trendy ‘little black dress party,’ presented by yours truly, Orlando Style, and One80 Grey Goose Lounge. The event was hosted by our town’s number one radio personality Johnny Magic and Rae from XL 106.7 on February 22nd. The ladies in the house dressed to the nines in their classic little black dresses while they enjoyed drinks and prizes from local boutiques. We partied the night away with Grey Goose cocktails until 2am. You can never go wrong with a sexy little black dress!

In one of the most dazzling collections ever assembled, the Jewels of the Titanic display on International Drive showcases an exhibition featuring fifteen of the most prestigious artifacts recovered from the wreck site of the Titanic. The exhibition will be up until March 2nd. Some of the artifacts being displayed are diamonds, sapphires, pearls and gold jewelry that once belonged to some of the ship’s wealthiest passengers in the early 1900s. Debuting in Atlanta, this is the first time the artifacts are displayed as a collection where visitors can also experience and learn about the phenomenal underwater discovery, mysterious lineage and the vast influence these artifacts have in today’s pop culture. > As of January 1, 2013 changes by the Florida legislature may have a great impact on the way your car accident claim is handled. If you are injured in an auto accident, you now have a mere two weeks to seek medical treatment or risk the potential loss of the coverage you have been paying for. In Florida, drivers are required to have Personal Injury Protection insurance (PIP) and liability protection to cover property damage. The PIP coverage will cover up to $10,000 of medical treatment if you are injured in an auto accident. The Florida Legislature, with enough prodding by auto insurance companies, has added new hurdles for Florida Drivers to jump over in order to receive PIP benefits.

One of the biggest changes to the law has to do with the timing of seeking medical attention; you must seek your initial medical treatment within 14 days of the accident under the new law. The problem is many people involved car accidents postpone care initially and only seek medical help down the road when aches and pains persist or arise. It is not at all uncommon for someone “self treat” with over-the-counter medications for two or three weeks before seeking appropriate medical attention. Timing is not only hurdle the injured are faced with under the new law; a specific type of medical provider must now perform the initial treatment in order to potentially receive full PIP benefits. Medical providers that fit the bill include Medical Doctors, Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, Dentists, Physician’s Assistants or Registered Nurse Practitioners.

Once you have cleared both hurdles of timing and selecting the appropriate medical provider, you are faced with the “Emergency Medical Condition” question. Your medical provider must declare that you have an “Emergency Medical Condition” in order to receive your full PIP benefits. An Emergency Medical Condition is defined as a medical condition that would reasonably be expected to result in serious jeopardy to patient health, serious impairment to a body

function, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. If your medical provider does not feel that you have an Emergency Medical Condition, as defined by the new law, you will lose $7,500 of your PIP coverage. What does that mean to you? Unfortunately, you will only have $2,500 of PIP benefits available for medical treatment related to the accident. You may think $2,500 will more than cover your medical bills if you do not have a serious condition, but more than half of your PIP benefits can easily be exhausted in one trip to the emergency room after an accident. In order to navigate your way through the new law, you may want to consult with a personal injury attorney.

You may wonder how the Florida Legislature has managed to take away the benefits that you pay for.The new law was promoted as a way for Florida drivers to save money on auto insurance. The law calls for a 25% reduction in billing for PIP benefits in 2014; however, the insurance companies have a right to petition for exclusion from the reduction. The recent changes to Florida PIP law also required a 10% reduction in October 2012, but of the 148 insurance company PIP-rate filings that have been approved by the State’s Office of Insurance Regulation, only 25% of these filings show the required reduction. When it comes to winners and losers, the auto insurance companies win big and Florida drivers lose again.

Your PIP benefits are crucial in your ability to receive and potentially afford proper medical attention. These benefits may be the only thing standing between you and a serious permanent injury. Art Basel Miami Beach’s Most Divine Art Show

> Miami has it all. The sizzling nightlife, the gorgeous beaches, a melting pot of cultures, inspiring cuisine, and a one-of-a-kind art scene. These elements make Miami one of the ultimate tourist destinations in the world. And it sure was the place to be December 6-9 when art lovers and creative geniuses traveled from all corners of the world to attend the 11th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach. More than 250 galleries were selected to be a part of the most prestigious art show in the United States and a part of the Art Basel series, which originated in 1970 and still occurs each year in Basel, Switzerland.

The four-day event took place at the Miami Beach Convention Center and featured work stemming from the Modern period of the early 20th century to the current contemporary work of today. The riveting pieces that decorated the walls came from 31 countries across five continents.

Over the five days, more than 50,000 visitors glided across the halls and observed, evaluated, and purchased the world’s most impressive pieces of art. The volume of visitors is a powerful representation of how the commonality of art can attract people from different backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, and location. Art Basel is the premier stage to bring these people together.

Plus, this is one serious art show.

2000 artists from the 20th and 21st century were represented and everything from classic, to elegant, to mind-blowing creative, to shocking was featured in the displays of art on the walls, in sculptures, through performance art, and on film and video art.

One striking piece on display was a largerthan-life sculpture constructed of LEGO blocks created by Los Carpinteros and titled “Kosmaj Toy.”

Nova, Impressions

The main sector of Art Basel Miami Beach, known as the Art Galleries, featured 201 exhibitors, with returning galleries like the Konrad Fischer Galerie, Bernard Jacobson Gallery and Esther Schipper. Radical newcomers joined as well including Hammer Galleries, Galerie Mehdi Chouakri and Tornabuoni Art. It was here that Basel followers saw vulnerable, shocking, and powerful pieces.

Art Nova was a sect of the event offering a platform for newer galleries. These galleries must be less than three years old and created by only two or three artists. Some works with high acclaim were from Sommer Contemporary Art featuring the artists Yael Bartana, Tal R. and Tom Burr. And the group Vitamin Creative Space, which was created by Hao Liang, Yangjiang Group and Zheng Guogu.

Only 16 galleries were displayed in Art Positions, a sector that is for individual emerging artists. 12 of the 16 were not seen as part

of last year’s show and thus provided a fresh look for art collectors, critics, and museum directors. A fan favorite was Paulo Nazareth’s “Banana Market/Art Market” which featured an old Volkswagen filled with thousands of bananas.

Art Public saw sculptures, interactive performances and site-specific instillations within an open and public format while Art Video featured film and video works by international artists and was projected onto outside wall of the New World Center in Downtown Miami.

Events relating to Art Basel swarmed the city.The JW Marriott Hotel presented a “Miami Says ART” retrospective display. Back in 1976, Martin Kreloff had artists shout “art” into a camera and captured the moment on print. 35 years later, the exhibition featured portraits and multimedia documentary from the original “cast” and brought some of these now world-renowned art leaders back together for a reunion.

And art wasn’t just represented in the traditional forms of paint, photography, and structure. It was also expressed through movement at YogArt, a celebration of yoga, art, and music. YogArt, created by Dawn B Feinberg, was held at Wynwood Walls in the heart of Miami’s up-and-coming art scene, Wynwood…an area that is covered with expressive and gorgeous spray painted masterpieces that splatter the walls of every building, fence, and structure in the area.

Four yoga practices were offered throughout the weekend taught by internationally acclaimed yoga teachers and featured the sounds of DJ Drez & the Mayapuris.

And, of course, in typical Miami fashion, the party scene was in full force throughout the weekend and saw the likes of Demi Moore, Martha Stewart, and Calvin Klein amongst others enjoying themselves at Miami’s most decorated hotels and clubs.

As Art Basel Miami Beach came to a close, and artwork was tucked away, the buzz remained in the air. Whether it was excitement surrounding practicing yoga under

the stars, the uniqueness of watching film on the side of a building, or admiring the works of the most brilliant artists in the world, past and present, Art Basel Miami Beach was quite the experience. It’s clear why it continues to remain one of the most renowned art shows in the world. <

> As we prepare our bodies for the beach, don’t forget the sunscreen, visor, cool drinks and (this is Florida) mosquito repellent… and not just for you, but your pets as well.

The unofficial state bird of Florida is the mosquito. I once saw a swarm of mosquitoes carry away a teacup poodle. OK, maybe not carry away, but they sure did try.

Mosquitoes pose threats to humans and animals. For your dogs and cats, the risk is heartworm disease. This deadly condition is easily preventable with a variety of prescriptions available from your Veterinarian. If the swarms become too thick, you may also contact Orange County Arthropod Control at 407-352-4370, and they will spray your neighborhood.

Next are fleas. Besides skin allergies, fleas are responsible for a wide range of worms, digestive disorders and diseases. Flea outbreaks are difficult to completely destroy and might cost you a pretty penny. Again, prevent outbreaks by treating your pet with prescription from your Veterinarian. You and your house might also become infected even if you don’t have a pet – they like to hide in socks as you walk through grass.

With Orlando situated in the middle of a gigantic swamp, you should be aware of the creepys and crawlys that prowl in tropical quagmires. Alligators, snakes, boars, spiders, scorpions and rodents have ways of getting into yards, pools, and sidewalks. Keep your eyes open and your pet away from these potentially deadly adversaries.

Beware of the hot spots. Cars can reach temperatures of excess of 140 degrees in only three minutes in summer. Plus, it is a violation of County Code if you leave your pet in an unattended vehicle. Walking your dog on the hot black asphalt could cause damage to the pads on your dog’s paws. If walking or hiking, make sure that you have plenty of water for you and your pet.

Beware of the wet spots. The Atlantic, the Gulf, your pool – all pose a hazard if your pet does not know how to swim. Most dogs instinctively swim, but it is best to test their skills in a safe, controlled atmosphere.

Some breeds, like beagles, are not strong swimmers. Watch your pet if you go in the ocean; rip currents and nurse sharks love lil’ doggies. Also beware of bogs and ditches; these are breeding grounds of molds, fungi, and microbes.

If you take a summer vacation, remember that your pet is a member of your pack and would love to go with you. AAA has a listing of hotels that accept pets. Practice taking your pet on car rides to prepare them for a long trip. It is better to learn if your pet gets carsick when you are only in the car for 10 minutes… instead of 10 days. If you decide to leave your pet, you have several options.

Kennels are great, but test the kennel/pet relationship by allowing your pet to stay just one night a few weeks prior to your trip, so they may adjust. Another option is leaving your pet at home with a pet sitter. Friends, relatives, and pet sitting professionals may care for your pet within the familiarity of their own home.<

During Groban’s “Illuminations” tour, I had the opportunity to see him in concert and witness the power of his vocals live and in all their glory. In this day of overly-digitized and produced music, it’s so rare to hear an artist who sounds exactly the same live as they do on their albums and Josh Groban is that artist in the living flesh.

When his raw and genuine vocal talent is married to the beautifully written lyrics he’s known for, it will leave you with chills.

On February 5th, Groban released “All That Echoes,” his highly anticipated sixth studio album. The producer behind “All That Echoes” is none other than Warner Bros.

Records chairman and veteran producer Rob Cavallo. Cavallo is best known for his work with numerous big-named rock bands such as Green Day, Paramore, and the Goo Goo Dolls. He is clearly one who knows

the key to producing successful rock music and Groban’s collaborating with him has brought this album to a level entirely different to anything we’ve seen Groban do before.

“All That Echoes” was named one of Billboard’s Best Bets for 2013 and features an edgier sound that is pushing Groban’s music to new genres and reaching the pleased ears of both seasoned Grobanites* and brand new Groban fans. Another exciting thing to note about “All That Echoes” is that it features more original songs and co-written credits to Groban. Groban says it was the frustration of hearing cheesily written songs, which drove him to do so, but his fans are certainly not complaining.

More original songwriting by Groban only adds to the personal intimacy that listeners of “All That Echoes” get to experience with him. With all the above being said, don’t ask me if I wasn’t first in line to buy the album on its release. I couldn’t open that CD fast enough and now--after listening to it numerous times--I’d like to tell you 16 reasons why you should buy it too.

Reason #1: Brave “All That Echoes” kicks off with a bang titled “Brave,” the first track and lead single off the record. Grand orchestral arrangements and a powerful display of vocals leave no question as to why the tune has been happily stuck in the heads of Groban fans since its premier in December.

by Glen Hansard. In this piece, Groban brings a passionate take to the song made famous by the beloved movie and Broadway stage musical “Once.”

Reason #4: She Moved Through The Fair In track #4 Groban pleasantly surprises (strong emphasis on the ‘pleasant’) with his choice to cover the traditional Celtic song “She Moved Through the Fair.” The song features Groban’s signature smooth vocals with a new, modern take on the beautiful tune.

Reason #5: Below The Line It’ll start small. Maybe a toe-tap here and there, but before you know it, it’ll become a full-fledged dance! Rhythmic beats, lively percussion and touching lyrics come together to make up “Below The Line,” track #5 on “All That Echoes” and one that is guaranteed to satisfy. I dare you to try and listen to it only once.

Well I know I said I was going to give you 16 reasons to buy Groban’s album, but it seems I’ve run out of space! I suppose that’s to be expected when discussing the talent that is Josh Groban.

I guess you’ll just have to purchase the “All That Echoes” exclusive deluxe edition with four bonus tracks and hear reasons #6 through #16 for yourself. There’s the uplifting cover of Stevie Wonder’s “I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever), the beautiful duet with Italian singer Laura Pausini, the touching rendition of Jimmy Webb’s “The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress,” and so much more. Believe it or not, the hottest diet around is a raw food one. Some of the most famous celebrities do it, including Demi Moore and Alicia Silverstone. Plant-based diets can be a great source to a healthy life and a fit body.

Plants in their natural state, or rawism, may be the most wholesome for your body.

Studies have shown that raw vegetables reduce the risk of oral, laryngeal, pharyngeal, esophageal and gastric cancers. Cruciferous vegetables, including cabbages, broccoli and kale are rich in fiber, vitamins and diseasefighting phytochemicals. These vegetables also reduce the risk of bladder cancer. Plus, raw vegetables lower cholesterol and improve glucose levels since they are low in fats and sugars, and are high in fiber.

Although the raw food diet is considered extremely nutritious and healthy, experts suggest you still take supplements, especially vitamin B12, vitamin D, iron, calcium, zinc and omega-3 fatty acids.

According to the American Dietetic Association, there are certain guidelines raw foodists can follow in order to get these nutrients in addition to taking the vitamins.

For instance, a plant-based dieter should eat twice as much iron as non-vegetarians do.

Iron can be found in tofu, legumes, cashews and almonds. Eight servings a day of calciumrich foods such as bok choy, soybeans, tempeh, figs, and cabbage—is suggested. Eating fortified breakfast cereals, nutritional yeast and fortified soymilk are excellent sources of vitamin B12. Also, include omega-3 sources, which are found in flaxseed, walnuts and soybean oil.

The absorption of zinc into the body is enhanced by a diet high in animal protein rather than a diet rich in plant proteins.

Phytates, which are found in foods such as cereals, whole grain breads, and legumes, can decrease zinc absorption, so the ADA recommends raw foodists soak and sprout their beans, seeds and grains to help the body absorb the zinc.

ADA also suggests that a raw foodist be vigilant about vitamin D because most raw foods exclude it and low levels can weaken the bones.Vitamin D-fortified foods include specific brands of soymilk and rice milk.

The most known brand of soymilk is Silk®,

which is vitamin D fortified. Some breakfast cereals and margarines are also rich in vitamin D. Raw foodists don’t often cook, but they spend a lot of their time preparing the food by chopping, peeling, straining, blending and dehydrating. They use food dehydrators rather than stoves and ovens. Dehydrating dries the food and makes the fruits and vegetables crunchier. Nothing can be heated over 115–118°F. According to WebMD, 75 percent of the diet consists of fruits and vegetables.

Note: It’s not without cons – a plant-based diet is a lifestyle choice, and some of the cons are that raw food diets often require tedious preparation, soaking and sprouting beans, seeds and grains, etc… If you’re not a vegan raw foodist, your diet might also include raw (unpasteurized) milk and cheese, raw eggs, raw fish, and even some raw meat, which can be harmful to your health. So, it is not for everyone.

Most raw foodists don’t consider a raw food diet as a weight loss regimen but rather a lifestyle choice, however, you will likely shed those extra pounds due to naturally consuming fewer calories.

Cone Beam Computerized Tomography

> Dental offices have changed the way they utilize x-rays. Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT) allows a dentist to safely obtain a 3-dimensional view of the mouth. This new technology is improving diagnosis, facilitating treatment planning and enhancing opportunities for patient education. In the past, patients who needed 3-D scans were referred out to a hospital or imaging centers to obtain medical CTs. This was not only inconvenient and expensive, but it also exposed patients to more radiation than was necessary.

Recently, articles have appeared cautioning the public about the increased health risks from medical CT scans. While it is worthwhile to take precautions to avoid exposure to unnecessary radiation, it is also important to avoid confusing radiation exposure statistics. For example, a typical medical CT scan of the head and neck will produce approximately 1500 micro Seiverts of radiation. A CBCT produces on average of 120 micro Seiverts of radiation. This is slightly higher than the amount of radiation you would get from a standard chest x-ray.

One of the advantages to utilizing a CBCT is the diagnostic quality. A CBCT will reveal approximately 24 – 33% more pathol-

ogy than standard dental films. In addition, dentists can use CBCT scans to treatment plan complex procedures (such as dental implants) on a computer prior to going into the mouth. This minimizes error and provides a superior result for patients.

For example, the picture on the top shows a dental implant planned on a traditional dental film. According to the picture, the implant is in good position and should be very successful. However, the CBCT scan (bottom picture) shows a much different scenario. If the surgery was performed utilizing only the traditional film, the bottom of the implant would have perforated the bone potentially causing serious nerve damage or a life threatening bleeding problem. In this case, the dental surgeon avoided a potentially catastrophic event prior to even touching the patient.

According to the FDA: “The clinical benefit of a medically appropriate X-ray imaging exam outweighs the small radiation risk”.

Your dentist will only recommend a CBCT scan if necessary. If your dentist does recommend a scan, you can be confident that it will help determine the best treatment option and improve health outcomes leading to better overall care. <

> So for the wine purists who believe wine should be left to its own devices and is not to be used as a plaything, beware of what the following article will do to your thought process. While there is no question most wines stand-alone and shine brightest by themselves, there is room to find new ways to get them involved behind the bar. I mean who wants to watch someone take a first growth Bordeaux and squeeze an orange into it, no sane person. That said here are a few ways where wine and creative bartending coexist in perfect harmony.

I know we have all sipped on varying recipes when it comes to the sangria or the staple seen at any respectable brunch known as the mimosa. We have seen these two worlds come together for years now in those two simple recipes alone. With sangria you usually see brandy and fruit based liquors being introduced to a dry red that just does not stand well by itself. Heaped into that sangria pitcher are all matters of fresh citrus and whatever else one adds to make their “secret” sangria recipe. Then you have the quintessential drink with brunch, the mimosa. If you are fortunate to be at a place where you get fresh squeezed orange juice added to that sparkler rather some watered down pasteurized juice, you know there is a difference between a good or bad mimosa.Whether it is a sparkler that was left over from last night or that bottle just cheap enough to melt the guilt away by adding something to it, everyone has experimented with what they use. It is time for you to play with those old, classic reci-

pes and try some new ideas. There is the play on the classic sangria by doing white sangria instead. The fruits usually change up to things like peach, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and pears. The white wine of choice for me is Sauvignon Blanc in this play on sangria. A great spirit to add to this great summer concoction is elderflower liquor. It goes a long way to brighten up all those flavors while adding just the right amount of sweetness. Top all of his with a little soda water and you are ready to put on your swimsuit, grab a pitcher of white sangria and head to the nearest beach party. A great way to play with a mimosa is to find some of the new bitters available on the market now. This might take a little more research and testing to get it right but it is well worth it. I like to find a nice domestic Blanc de blancs and add fresh squeezed orange juice, or one actual orange squeezed directly into your glass. Throw in a dash or two of blood orange bitters and fill with your sparkling wine and you are good to go. I find adding bitters always is a helper for that Saturday night hangover that you brought to Sunday brunch. It is basically taking parts of the old school Champagne cocktail and introducing it to the classic mimosa.

There is a trend towards the wine cocktail that will be showing up more and more in 2013. We are going back to the days of the appreciation of the low-alcohol cocktail.

The shift from drinks that get you drunk to realizing the benefit of actually enjoying the flavor of your drink is not new. The movement has been steadily changing back to

those old days for a few years now and the wine cocktail is just one way to see how it is evolving. Your local cocktail focused bar will have these options for you if you just ask the creative bartender behind it. There are many other options when it comes to intertwining wine and spirits, as you will see this year. While some might be popping up in carafe or punch form, others will be to order. Wines are really a good vessel to highlight flavors through the cocktail. They are typically lower in alcohol and are able to help other flavors shine through. So while you do not want to see someone open a highly rated wine and mix it with anything other than your empty wine glass, there is a place of harmony for wine and mixology to get along. So wake up your mimosa with something new or revamp that sangria to this decade.Whatever you decide do not be afraid to try whatever wine cocktail your talented local bartender has created. More often than not you will walk away happy and with a better appreciation of what other ways wine can be used. <
