We might not ever understand all of the mysteries of life, but it’s comforting to know that as long as we’re here on earth, we will always continue to develop new and beneficial ways to keep ourselves youthful and in good health. Who knows, we might be closer to get our brain/memory transferred to a computer, so that we can later on put it back into an AI created being with our history and knowledge… Like living on… interesting and scary thought. Florida might not have much of a winter, but spring is absolutely stunning in the Sunshine State. As a result, March is a busy season for events throughout the City Beautiful. Here are just a few highlights, just in case you missed it!

The biggest drinking day of the year finally returned last month! Friday, March 17th saw the largest and best St. Patrick's Day Block Party in Downtown Orlando.

Attendees threw on something green and partied hard with live Irish music, tons of beads, free giveaways, green beer, Jell-O shots, and perhaps a Leprechaun or two. Rocking music and live performances rounded out the event with guests enjoying seven different venues of St. Patrick’s Day fun.

The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival is one of the nation’s oldest, largest and most prestigious outdoor art festivals. The 4th Annual event took place from March 17-23 throughout Central Park and along Park Avenue in Winter Park. The festival debuted in March 1960 as a community project to bring local artists and art lovers together. Today, it is produced by an allvolunteer board and draws more than 250,000 visitors each year. Over 1,100 artists from around the world applied for the Festival and an independent panel of three judges selected the 215 artists who exhibited their works at this year’s event. The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival consistently ranks as one of the top juried fine art festivals in the country.

Every year on the 3rd weekend of March, downtown streets come alive with an eclectic display of Fine and Fun Arts and Crafts by more than 200 exhibitors. It's a fun, free, two-day, open-air event, with historic Mount Dora as a backdrop. Of course I’m talking about the Mount Dora Spring Festival of Arts and Crafts which has been ranked in the Top 50 Classic/Contemporary Craft Festivals in America by Sunshine Artist. Though it was originally known as the Mount Dora Antique Show, today the event has no antique or collectible dealers. It features more than 250 hand craft exhibitors and original artists but still draws thousands of people to downtown Mount Dora as was the original intent of the event organizers. The Mount Dora Spring Festival of Arts and Crafts is presented by Visit Mount Dora.

The Council of 101 welcomed the spring season once again with its annual springtime fundraiser — Art in Bloom. The event ran from March 24-26 at the Orlando Museum of Art and brought visitors a museum-wide kaleidoscope of breathtaking floral arrangements inspired by works from the Orlando Museum of Art’s permanent collection and current exhibitions. From avid collectors to novices, all were thrilled with the selection of original art by some of Central Florida's most talented artists featured in the Silent Auction. There were also curated antiques, lifestyle events and design workshops that inspired visitors of all ages.

Everyone is a fan of something, and MEGACON Orlando was the place to celebrate all things pop culture. Attracting hundreds of thousands of fans each year across four big days, MEGACON Orlando is one of North America's largest Comic, Sci-Fi, Horror, Anime, and Gaming events. From March 30-April 2, fans got autographs and photos with their favorite guest, watched professional comic artists battle it out in popular Sketch Duels, learned from “How To” workshops, and took photos with their favorite costumed characters. With over 400,000 square feet of shopping, MEGACON was also a great place to buy unique gifts. This year’s event featured stars from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and The Mandolorian along with many others.

Aloha Orlando! The time came to dip our toes in the sand again for the second annual Luau at Boxi Beach on March 31, 2023. Held in the sand volleyball courts, guests were transported to the tropics and entertained by hula dancers and fire knife dancers while listening to the sounds of Tahitian drums, guitar and ukulele. With their tickets, guests also got access to the VIP Boxi Beach area and bar and received a welcome cocktail and lei. They were also able to purchase additional pork specialties from the pig roast or specialty items from the Boxi Park containers. DJ Cierra was also on hand to keep the party going long after the feast was over!

Beauty Trends of the Month

April is one of the best months of the year, the change in season allows for plenty of outside activity and get-togethers, because the weather is perfect. The Easter season is when families get together and go on vacation. That is one of the reasons I make sure to always look stylish, wear the colors that are trending and look chic. Let me give you a list of what’s trending now for this spring season.

Eyelash Extensions are quickly becoming more and more popular these days. They are individual lashes, made of silk, mink, or something synthetic, that are attached to your existing lashes semi-permanently. If you’ve ever dreamt of waking up with beautiful lashes but without that ring of leftover mascara dangling, eyelash extensions are the solution. It works for me.

Here are a few reasons I personally recommend them.

1. Time Saver Not only will eyelash extensions help you look much more “put together” when you roll out of bed, but they can also save you lots of time. If you wear mascara and eyeliner almost every day, eyelash extensions will save you time spent in front of a mirror.

2. Beauty Eyelash extensions add volume to the natural lash line and can lift the face and make people appear more youthful. Today’s beauty standards applaud long, thick eyelashes, and with extensions you can enhance your natural beauty without the use of makeup or other beauty products.

Soft pearly whites, light pink tones, nude colors Neutral / Pastel Nail Color - Neutral colors are both classic and chic and are being worn on today’s fashion runways and modeled in magazine spreads. Whether your choice is long oval-shaped nails or short squared tips, neutral or pastel nails colors are the hottest ticket in town.

While color is always in fashion during the spring, neutrals look beautiful as well.

Soft pearly whites, light pink tones, nude colors, and gentle beige and gray tones always look good. Spring is all about soft colors. It’s always fun to do a bright pink or red – trust me I get it – but good neutral nail colors will go with literally any outfit you choose. The beauty of a nude or neutral nail polish is that it allows you to be bold with your outfit choices without having to worry about it clashing.

Moisturizing Your Skin - You never can ignore taking care of your skin. Moisturizers address the importance of making sure the skin is getting all the water it needs to fight dryness and dehydration, premature signs of aging and environmental damage.

Moisturizing is about trapping and sealing in moisture to build the skin’s protective barrier, prevent water loss and keep the skin soft and smooth. This is very important during the warmer dryer months of spring.

Here are some reasons why I cannot leave my house without moisturizing my skin.

1. Preventing dryness Warm weather air conditioning or indoor heat are all environmental factors that can suck the moisture right out of your skin. That’s why moisturizing is so important. It not only replaces moisture that’s already been lost, but helps prevent future loss.

2. Slowing the Signs of Aging For me this is crucial. Hydrated skin is younger-looking skin. It’s never too early to start preventing future fine lines and wrinkles. And that plump, firm feeling you get after giving your face a dose of hydration is helping to slow down the process.

3. Help Fight Acne It might seem strange to add more moisture to already oily-prone skin, but it makes sense. When your skin gets dry, it sends a message to your glands to produce more oil that can clog your pores and cause breakouts. So, if skin is properly hydrated, it can help stop it from producing more oil than it needs.

4. Soothe Sensitive Skin Got red, irritated skin? Have dry, itchy patches? Sensitive skin needs extra special care. Look for a moisturizer that has soothing ingredients like aloe vera, chamomile, oatmeal, and honey, just to name a few.

Are you someone who believes in the power of affirmations and uses them regularly? Or are you reading this thinking, what in the world even is an affirmation?

Here are some reasons to consider incorporating affirmations into a continued routine or process when trying to maintain a desired outcome:

Either way, you’ve come to the right place. We are proclaiming this month as Affirmational April. Why? Because it feels like a good time to do so. We’re three months into 2023 and welcoming spring again. Yet, the year is still young which gives us continued hope to accomplish the goals and desires we set forth for ourselves. That’s where our friend affirmation comes in.

1. Affirmations are actually backed by science. So, not exactly "woo-woo." Instead, affirmations are backed by the well-established phycological theory. The selfaffirmation theory (Steele, 1988), supports the key idea that we can maintain a sense of self-integrity by affirming what we believe in positive ways.

Simply put, affirmations are positive thought statements used to counteract negative thoughts or self-limiting beliefs. People use affirmations to affirm their desires in manifesting, or working toward a desired outcome.

With that said, affirmations can help with attaining what once seemed unattainable. They work in conjunction with self-validation and one’s ability to maintain a specific ask with a go-getter mindset.

Whether that ask be a loving relationship, new career, a business, to travel, or whatever else we desire for our future.

2. Mentioned in pychology.com, self-integrity relates to self-efficacy - our perceived ability to control moral outcomes and respond flexibly when our self-concept is threated (Cohen & Sherman, 2014).

Affirmations can help keep a frame of mind consistent.

The kinder you are to yourself, the likelier you are to have a happier lifestyle. The benefits of affirming go beyond just exhibiting positive statements; it has an overall effect on the mind-body’s correlation to wellbeing. When creating affirmations, make sure to implement authentic key statements.

These statements should be true to your self-beliefs and in alignment with your values. These can also be statements you would like to believe about yourself such as, “I believe I am working towards the right path for myself.”

Another helpful way to create affirmations that are suitable for where you are and would like to be, is to simultaneously use a gratitude journal. Pulling words of gratitude into your feeling statements can create an authentic sense of purpose and flow as well. All-in-all, affirmations can bring your day just the right dose of positivity, selfintegrity and maybe even a boost of serotonin.

What is self-love? Self-love is having a relationship with yourself that has compassionate, kind , patient , tolerant, and curious. It means you are nice to yourself, and are authentic with yourself in both the negative and the positive. You have the ability to take accountability or responsibility for mistakes you made, constantly improving your growth. Selflove is about giving yourself grace and forgiveness when you inevitably make mistakes. It is about believing in yourself, trusting yourself, asserting boundaries and overall deeper connection to yourself. The relationship you have with yourself is the only truly life-long relationship, self-love is the most important love of your life.

It can be more challenging to understand how important loving yourself is. However, even more challenging is what can happen when you don’t offer self-love. Your happiness is dependent on how you take care of yourself and self-love has been linked to increased resilience, and capacity to see things from new perspective. When you put yourself last or fail to love yourself, you will notice increased stress, anxiety and reactivity to the little things that you may

have ignored beforehand. Things will feel more difficult for you to handle, this can lead to overwhelming, and your feelings depleted and overall you will be unhappy.

The first FDA-approved injectable for cellulite.

Interest in plastic surgery is at an all-time high, but stigma and misinformation still surround the industry and the patients. Welcome to Life in Plastic, a new series by Allure that aims to break down cosmetic procedures and provide all the information you’ll need to make whatever decision is right for your body — no judgment, just the facts. Here, we’re covering everything you need to know about the surge in neck lifts among a younger demographic.

Ninety percent of women have cellulite. It’s 100 percent normal — and completely natural. It is nothing more than an interaction between two body parts (fat meeting connective tissue, like collagen, under the skin). But as part of that 90 percent, I realize how cellulite brings with it mixed emotions, from ambivalence to embarrassment.

In the past, there’s been a feeling of helplessness. For those who want to get rid of their cellulite, a lot of the options have been unappealing, delivering unimpressive results via invasive procedures that break connective tissue using scalpels or heat from lasers. And topical creams merely minimize the appearance of dimples, not to mention the results are fleeting. So it’s a big deal that the FDA has approved the first injectable for cellulite, called Qwo. “It’s an exciting, less invasive treatment option for women with good skin firmness, meaning not loose skin, who are also bothered by dimpling from cellulite,” says Shari Marchbein, M.D., a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at NYU School of Medicine.

HOW QWO WORKS But these injections are not always a quick fix. While some patients notice improvement after one or two appointments, it usually takes three treatments over the course of three months to see full results. Most patients receive 12 shots (one vial) in a session (taking 10 minutes or less) and each injection is said to feel similar to a Botox pinch. The material that’s being injected is collagenases, an enzyme known to break peptide bonds in collagen. Inject it into cellulite and it is believed to go to work dissolving the collagen bands (via a chemical process called Enzymatic Subcision and Remodeling) that fat was protruding through.

If there are no bands of collagen for the fat to press through then there is nothing to cause dimpling. “It is a permanent fix for the treated area,” says D. Shafer, M.D., a plastic surgeon, noting that it is different from invasive procedures where there is a possibility the bands can reconnect, causing a recurrence of cellulite.

In clinical trials on Qwo, there was a two-level improvement of cellulite on the Photo-numeric Cellulite Severity Scale — basically, moderate and severe cellulite was drastically improved, but not one hundred percent erased.

Qwo is FDA approved for use in the butt, but some dermatologists and plastic surgeons are also using it off-label on the thighs with similar results. There is one likely side effect, but its temporary. Every single patient will get bruises. Blood vessels around the area get a little leaky, causing internal bruising. It’s nothing dangerous, but it can look dramatic for around two weeks.”

Even so, the long-term results seem to outweigh the temporary bruising. Besides smoothing things over, for many, Qwo is injecting a boost of confidence.

Justin Williams & Chahinaz El-Masri Meet one of Orlando’s most dynamic duos: Justin Williams and Chahinaz El-Masri. The power couple is known for following through on their passions, not only in their careers, but in community too.

Chahinaz by profession is founder and caterer of a successful Mediterranean catering business - Chez Tasty Catering. The business is inspired by Chahinaz’s background of Lebanon and the cuisine features a versatile Lebanese inspired menu.

Justin Williams is the General Manager at downtown Orlando’s premiere luxury hotel, The Grand Bohemian. Prior to joining The Grand Bohemian, Justin has been cultivating success in the hospitality business for over 23 years.

The husband-wife and parents of two met in Washington D.C. before making their way to Orlando. Since then, they have been doing some wonderful things together when it comes to giving back to the community, as they both share a passion for a strongly connected community.

Chahinaz shares compassion for children and serving the homeless. She dedicates time towards causes that support these areas among others. Justin serves on the board of directors for several organizations including Visit Orlando, Downtown Orlando Partnership, Central Florida hotel and Lodging Association, and the Central Florida African American Chamber of Commerce and Runway to Hope. Justin also supports Chahinaz’s vision towards a brighter future for the youth and serves on the board of directors for Man Up mentoring, an organization that focuses directly on at-risk youth. In addition, he is actively involved with Parramore Kidz Zone, Black Bee Honey, and Jones High School.

BENTLEY BATUR Bentley has revealed a new two-door grand touring coupé, the Bentley Batur, limited to just 18 series pieces, marking the start of a design revolution for the luxury car brand. The Batur was created by Bentley’s Director of Design, Andreas Mindt and his team, and is a showcase of the new design DNA that will guide the design of Bentley’s future range of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). The Batur is the latest project by Bentley’s in-house bespoke and coachbuilding division, Mulliner, and follows the Bacalar, which relaunched coachbuilding at Bentley. The Batur, like its predecessor, is named after a beautiful natural body of water, Lake Batur, in Kintamani, Indonesia, and provides nutrient-rich water to both local hot springs and agriculture.

The Batur will be the most powerful Bentley ever, with a 740+ PS version of the hand-assembled 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine, matching the most advanced Bentley chassis ever with Speed-tuned air suspension, electric active anti-roll control, eLSD, four-wheel steering, and torque vectoring. All 18 examples of the Batur have already been reserved, with each customer able to specify the colour and finish of practically every surface of the car.

The Batur was unveiled at Bentley’s Signature Party at Monterey Car Week, with Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Adrian Hallmark, stating that the Batur showcases the design direction that the brand is taking for its range of BEVs. Andreas Mindt and his team have reimagined the classic Bentley design cues into a stronger, bolder design that remains both elegant and graceful. In 2017, however, he decided to venture into an entirely different field of the entertainment industry. The Lowe Files was a reality TV show that featured the actor and his adult sons, Edward Matthew and John Owen, driving around the country looking for ghosts. From the legend of Bigfoot to UFO sightings and more... Lowe described the venture as “Anthony Bourdain in a blender with Scooby-Doo,” but a review in the Hollywood Reporter preferred to call the show an “inexplicable” vanity project.

Unsurprisingly, it only lasted for one season on A&E. Jada Pinkett Smith Although she’s more wellknown today as the wife who’s name should be kept out of everybody’s mouth, Jada Pinkett Smith has actually been a Hollywood starlet since the early 90s when she made her debut in A Different World.

Knowing about her extensive acting career, it may come as a surprise to learn that she has also thrived as a musician, and unlike her family, I’m not talking about pop or hip-hop. In 2002, Pinkett Smith stepped away from acting and formed the nü-metal band Wicked Wisdom. The band produced two relatively successful studio albums before disbanding in 2007 and even played at Ozzy Osbourne’s Ozzfest in 2005 alongside headliners like Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden.

Garth Brooks While Jada Pinkett Smith’s venture into music may have seemed entirely random, the next celebrity on our list was already a successful musician who made the attempt to venture into an entirely new genre altogether. In 1999, country music superstar Garth Brooks was one of the best-selling artists of all time with over 95 million album sales under his belt. You would think that type of success would be enough to keep a man happy, but Brooks wanted to try his hand at something else and managed to do so by creating a fictional Australian rockstar alter ego named Chris Gaines. In order to channel his new personality, Brooks lost weight, grew his hair out, and released the 90s pop album Garth Brooks in...the Life of Chris Gaines which didn’t feature a trace of Brooks’ signature twang. Somehow— literally, I have no idea how this was possible—the album reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and even landed him a No. 5 spot on the Billboard Top 40 with the single “Lost in You.” In spite of the album’s success, the critical reception to Chris Gaines was unsurprisingly negative. Brooks ultimately ended the venture and avoided discussing his alter ego for over twenty years before finally admitting, “My ribs are still sore from getting the s*** kicked out of me for it.”

Jeremy Renner From portraying Marvel’s Hawkeye to Oscar-nominated roles in The Hurt Locker and The Town, Jeremy Renner is known for a lot of things and I bet you didn’t know that one of them was for developing an app. In 2017, Renner released a self-titled app simply titled “Jeremy Renner.” A corresponding press release described the app as “groundbreaking” and as an opportunity for the actor’s fans from all over the world to interact with him directly. Fancy press release aside, one outlet saud the reality was that the app “looked almost identical to Instagram if the only content on Instagram was about Jeremy Renner and the interface only worked 60% of the time.” Users also complained that the competitions were always rigged and that the in-app purchases were nothing but predatory cash grabs from fans. Unfortunately, the app’s many issues eventually became too much and Renner ultimately shut down the app in 2019.

Scarlett Johansson Much like Jeremy Renner, fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe star Scarlett Johansson has also enjoyed a successful acting career over the years. Some of you may have even seen her movies in the theater while munching on a bag of buttery popcorn and though popcorn has little to do with acting, Johansson actually took a surprising venture into the popcorn business way back in 2016. The actress decided to open a Parisian popcorn shop called “Yummy Pop” which had been a longtime dream for her and her family. Created as a joint effort with her then-husband Romain Dauriac, the shop featured a variety of delicious flavors ranging from “Canadian maple” to “truffle parmesan” and celebrated long lines well into the first year after its opening. Unfortunately, Yummy Pop closed shortly thereafter and Johansson went back to fighting crime on the big screen and letting us buy our own (overpriced) popcorn from the theaters.

Entrepreneur, Visionary, Author Jessi Park is the founder of two luxury e-commerce brands, Execuluxe, and Elysian Parfums. Her journey to success was not an easy one. As a single mother with two children, she put herself through college while working full-time. After graduating with a degree in Communications & Business from the University of Central Florida, Jessi found herself $65,000 in debt and struggling to make ends meet. ln 2001 Dr. Mattia retired from his NJ practice and moved to Florida to begin semi-retirement. His love for sports has helped him understand that chiropractic spinal care for athletes is required for better performance and nervous system function. Dr. Mattia has helped many chiropractic college graduates begin their careers by having them work with him and gain experience.

Even before becoming a chiropractor, Dr. Mattia’s life has not been ordinary.

At the age of 15 he had been given six months to live. “ I was born with a severe heart condition called aortic stenosis.”

People suffering from this condition have an aortic valve in their heart that gradually degenerates and therefore the heart cannot function properly. Heart surgery in the 60s was not as successful as today. He also had bad allergies. His mother was not ready to give up. On a friend’s recommendation, she took her son to a chiropractor. ‘The aortic valve stopped closing by 92 percent and my allergies were gone,” Dr. Mattia said. He was able to live to the age of 35 when he received his first new aortic valve and the success rate of heart surgery was higher.

Dr. Mattia became a chiropractor because of this. He earned his chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College and opened a practice in 1977. Dr. Mattia practiced in New Jersey from 1977 to 2001. During that time he received many awards: Chiropractor of the Year 1995 and
