The Urban Youth League was founded by NFL All-Pro Running Back Ricky Watters. The mission of the UYL is to assist at-risk youth in becoming leaders in their communities. UYL strives to build self-conďŹ dence and self-worth through mentoring, life skills training, exposure to the arts, music, sports, and different cultures.

As an adoptee himself growing up in the inner city, Ricky is just as passionate about kids as he is about playing football. Through the community outreach programs offered through UYL, Ricky strives to ensure that no child is left behind. Children living in struggling economic conditions, single parent homes and in foster care are like any other child who needs guidance, encouragement and support to realize their full potential. Ricky believes that by sharing his personal story and many challenges he faced as a youth and young adult, he will encourage children and teens to never give up until they reach their goals.
