Relive the ‘70s in a brand new pair of flares or feed your ‘90s nostalgia with a chic choker. Forget fur and full-length sleeves, this season is all about floaty, festival fashion. Forever on-trend and effortlessly youthful, the festival look is your secret to Spring style success. As always, you can depend on denim to provide the ultimate wardrobe staple. Playful and flirtatious, the trend can be styled several ways to take your look from day to night.
COLD SHOULDER: AN ESSENTIAL TO YOUR WARDROBE, MAKE HEADS TURN IN A SEXY YET PLAYFUL
1.
THE NEW BASIC
If there’s one thing that is on-trend all year round, it’s the classic hue of blue denim. Instead of opting for heavy jeans and jackets, soak up the sunshine in a range of stunning Spring styles.
Dare to flare
Move over skinny jeans, there’s a new silhouette in style this season. Flashback to the seventies, flared fashion is trending! From bold, wide-leg pants to delicate, bell-sleeved blouses, try a modern take on your old flared favourites.
Fear of the flare? No worries! Ease into the trend in a classic black dress with a simple flared skirt. tip
FLOAT AWAY
If there’s one thing we know for sure, festivals are the perfect place to rock flowing, floral and gypsyinspired outfits.
FESTIVAL FASHION
Free-spirited music lovers rejoice, your favourite festival attire is here to stay! Embrace all new patterns, colours and textures and rock-out in style.

Don’t underestimate the power of a little bling. A simple choker or headband can completely transform your look.
Real life BEAUTY
Mother, model, TV presenter, national celebrity and now Myer Ambassador; there isn’t much, tomboy at heart, Rachael Finch can’t do.
Crowned Miss Universe Australia in 2009, Rachael Finch didn’t always dream of being a model. Yearning instead to be a professional runner, it wasn’t until the legs-eleven brunette was scouted in her hometown of Townsville that her aspirations changed and her modelling career took flight.
Now recognised all over the world for her natural beauty and effortless style, Rachael still manages to stay true to her Far North Queensland roots. It’s this laidback Aussie attitude that has seen the proud mother-of-one become brand ambassador for one of Australia’s largest department stores.
“It’s a real privilege to be able to work with the creative and reputable brands within the Myer family, and I feel so lucky every day to be a part of the hard working team,” she says.
Like all Queenslanders, Rachael can’t wait for the summer heat to arrive. She plans on spending her days by the water with her daughter, Violet, dressed in bohemian-inspired pieces. “It’s beautiful being able to wear soft, flowing fabrics in the warmer months that shape the body in all the right ways. There’s a real femininity that comes with it,” she says.
Channelling the cool, easy and understated styles of her fashion icons Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo, Rachael describes her style as simplistic, with minimal accessories. She also loves layering, often mixing and matching her favourite activewear with mainstream pieces.
With travel playing a huge part in her celebrity lifestyle, Rachael says you can’t go past good quality jeans or comfortable, long pants when on the road. She also packs her headphones, a travel-size jar of balancing balm (perfect for those stressful moments), her handy water bottle and of course, some mixed nuts to make sure her skin maintains its natural glow.
Favourite Instagram accounts?
I love @jescoxnutritionist and @thewholefooddiary
Favourite naughty treat?
Definitely a bowl of ice-cream. The store-bought type!
Favourite way to relax?
Taking a hot bath with Epsom salts after I put Violet to bed.
While it can be tough to maintain a healthy lifestyle while balancing such a busy schedule, Rachael credits her organisational skills and the positive energy of her husband and family for keeping her on track.
Juggling the demands of raising her daughter, pursuing her career goals and a strong relationship with her husband, Michael Miziner, Rachael Finch is the very embodiment of a modern mother.
“IT’S A REAL PRIVILEGE TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH THE CREATIVE AND REPUTABLE BRANDS WITHIN THE MYER FAMILY.”
PIP TO IT
General Pants Co. Designer Director Pip Edwards tells us how to stay ahead of the fashion game this season.
If you’re interested in the Australian fashion scene, chances are you have heard of Pip Edwards.
One of the original designers at Sass&Bide and General Pants Co., Pip has branched out to create her own personal brand –launching her street-inspired activewear label, PE Nation, earlier this year.
Living for the athleisure, the ’90s urban street-sport trend is inherent to Pip’s own personal style and is evident in her effortlessly edgy brand.
We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Pip, to discuss all things fashion.
“I’m loving all of the new ‘mom’ jeans that will be hitting General Pants Co. this season. From Ksubi, to Insight, to Rolla’s to Levi’s I love them all,” she says.
Despite her love of jeans it’s the Ksubi Pip Midi Skirt from General Pants Co. that is on high rotation in her wardrobe right now. Denim is also another obvious staple for Pip; as are sneakers. When asked her opinion on pairing the two, her response: “It’s the only thing! Just make sure you opt for a raw edge cropped jean.”
To pull off the look, go for oversized ’90s sport silhouettes and don’t forget your swagger. For those unsure of how to style their hair to complement this sporty trend, Pip recommends a casual, effortless look, “Keep it lo-fi,” she says. “Dry hair shampoo dusted at the roots is key to achieving this look.”
For makeup she recommends a super light foundation, and her secret tip is to replace your highlighter with Paw Paw ointment, keeping you looking dewy faced and au naturale.
Pip’s talents aren’t just restricted to fashion. Originally studying commerce law, Pip ditched her corporate job in risk management to take up a career in styling, and has never looked back!
SILVER STREAK
Make a statement this Spring with a stylish metal accessory. Silver bangles, cuffs and pendants bring an element of glamour to an ordinarily basic look.
Accentuate your outfit with on-trend accessories. Exude edginess or simply complement your décolletage with a new-season jewel that suits your style.
SWAROVSKI
FINE LINES
Delicate details are dominating the jewellery scene. Complement your favourite little black dress or jazz up a plain tee. The sky is the limit!
Rose gold is all the rage this Spring. A sleek, black watch with ornate edging equals instant chic.
BLING BLING
Forget the bulky chains that come to mind when you hear the word “bling”. Embellished outlines are redefining formal jewellery, one diamond at a time.
’90S NECKTIE
Indulge in ’90s nostalgia with an uber chic choker. Whether you choose to layer it up or keep it simple, a choker is the perfect addition to almost any outfit.

SEASIDE STYLE
Spring cleaning makes room for Summer goodies! With the warmer months upon us, we’ve rounded up the staple styles you will need to get you through the season with ease and of course, style.
PEAR SHAPE
Got curves like Beyoncé? Embrace your hips and bust with a deepplunging one-piece. This cut will draw the eyes upwards, minimising focus on the bottom.
TUMMY CONCEALING
If you’re out to slim your middle, invest in high-waisted bottoms. Retro-inspired styles are on-trend and are great for covering up.
ATHLETIC BODY
Opt for bikinis that will add the illusion of curves. Sticking to loud patterns and smaller cuts will create a fuller silhouette for your body shape.
A cute pair of sandals transition seamlessly from street to beach.
BEACH BABE: WANT THOSE TOUSLED, SURFERGIRL WAVES WITHOUT COPPING A MOUTHFUL OF SALTY WATER? APPLY SOME SEA SALT SPRAY TO YOUR HAIR, RUN YOUR FINGERS THROUGH THE ENDS AND HEY PRESTO, YOU’VE NAILED THE SURFY, SUMMER LOOK!
MUST-HAVE: BE SURE TO BRING ALONG A BIG BEACH BAG TO HOLD YOUR TOWEL AND SUNNIES WHILE YOU SWIM.
Enjoy the endless benefits of activated charcoal with a BB cream or body scrub. Reduce pores, excess oil, toxins and acne while healing pesky bites and cuts.
H E R S
A BOND like no other
Warm, witty and insanely funny are just some of the words that could be used to describe Australia’s most lovable couple: Hamish and Zoë Foster-Blake.
H I S
When Zoë Foster-Blake was initially approached to be the face of iconic Australian sportswear brand Bonds, she worked hard to convince husband Hamish to join her. He finally caved, and the competition and hilarity between the dynamic duo ensued.
After their campaign shoot, Zoë interviewed her “less sporty” partner. Here is what he had to say.
Zoë: It must feel amazing being involved in this campaign, to be granted access to a world you are clearly so foreign to, confused by, and overwhelmed in... Hamish: You’re cute. Whilst it would be easy to sit here and talk about
how great I am at sports and how being the best has always come naturally to me, I would like to give props (like only the truly humble heroes do) to the special effects team behind the ad for sometimes switching my head onto my wife’s body to make it look like I was “struggling”.
Zoë: As I coached you through the exercises during the shooting of the commercial, did you feel proud and impressed to have such an athletic wife who was also very kind and nurturing?
Hamish: I only really remember one instance where you tried to assist me. It was during the Roman Rings segment (didn’t make the final cut) where you threatened that if I didn’t stick a triple-somersault landing you’d “divorce my ass quicker than the time it will take for the judges to write down zero on their score cards”.
Zoë: What do you say to those people who say you are not a worthy opponent for Zoë Foster-Blake?
Hamish: I try to remind them as a marriage we are not opponents and are in fact a team. Right? I mean, what do you think honey? You know we’re not really trying to beat each other, right?
GO FOR BRONZE
As we enter the new season, we sat down with makeup artist and renowned beauty blogger, Rachael Brook, to discuss her top tips for achieving a bronzed Summer glow and what upcoming makeup trends we can expect to see this Spring and Summer.
To make your skin glow, use either a liquid illuminator or powder highlighter and apply it to the tops of your cheekbones, under your brow bone, tip of your nose and the cupid’s bow of the lips.
USE A LIQUID BRONZER IN AREAS THAT YOU WOULD NORMALLY CONTOUR SUCH AS THE HOLLOWS OF THE CHEEKS AND TEMPLES.
1. MYER LANC ÔME STAR BRONZER $81 2. BLOOMS THE CHEMIST NUDE BY NATURE ILLUMINATOR $22.95
ONE BEAUTY PRODUCT I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS POWDERED HIGHLIGHTER. GLOWING, DEWY SKIN IS DEFINITELY WHAT I LOVE TO WEAR AND WHAT I LOVE TO DO ON MY CLIENTS.

TRENDING
Follow that with a powder bronzer on your cheeks, and just a hint on your chin, forehead and nose.
Minimal makeup will be a trend to try this Summer. This look focuses heavily on one feature at a time. Try to keep it somewhat natural; I love to enhance features, not completely change them. Here are two trends you can try at home…
COASTAL CHIC
Wake up by the beach every morning with gorgeous ocean-inspired interiors. Indulge in all of the laidback luxury of the coast, minus the sandy feet!
HARRIS SCARFE SHERIDAN
Meet the parents
SUMMER STYLE FOR HIM
Meeting her parents for the very first time is a daunting task to say the least. Be sure to look sharp and dress to impress – you know what they say about first impressions!
Don’t fall into the all-too-tempting trap of a styleless Summer. Hot weather is no excuse for lazy dressing! Put together simple, suitable looks and glide into any situation as stylish as ever.
CONVERSATION STARTERS
“What’s your secret?
This lasagne is delicious!”
The way to any mum’s heart is often as simple as complimenting her cooking. Sing her dinner’s praises and soon she’ll be singing yours!
“What type of breed is your dog?”
Puppies are the perfect conversation starter. Show your interest in man’s best friend and you might just nab a new friend of your own. Did someone say golf next Sunday?
THINGS TO AVOID....
X Your phone! Not at the dinner table. X Discussing a debaucherous night out.
For the weekend
For the beach
Dive into Summer in style with some brand new beachwear. Think bold prints, surf brands, watches, sunnies, backpacks and a great set of speakers, of course!
Forget jeans and jackets, your weekend style during the warmer months is all about staying cool and casual. Opt for neutral tones, simple accessories and layers. Yes, you heard right! Layering up allows you to strip down, keeping you cool and stylish at all times.
OUT OF THE BOX school holiday activities
Don’t let the little ones waste their holidays in front of the TV, get outdoors and make the most of our sunny, Summer weather!
UNLEASH THE ARTIST
Keep the kids occupied with a good old dose of arts and crafts. Using a spare tarp or sheet as added protection, head outside and give them free reign. Who knows, you might just discover a Michelangelo in the making!
COOK UP A STORM
Getting creative in the kitchen is a longstanding family favourite. Whip up a delicious cake or even take care of dinner. The kids will go crazy for cooking!
GET GARDENING
Give the kids a much needed nature lesson this summer. Grab a shovel, some soil and a few fresh succulents and let them plant a seed and watch it grow!
BUT ALSO PRACTICAL – WHAT STAIN?
STARGAZERS: GET CREATIVE AND CURL UP IN YOUR VERY OWN TENT. GATHER THE TROOPS AND MAKE AN AFTERNOON OUT OF THE CONSTRUCTION.

GINGERBREAD MEN
and creative side come out than with some baking. As tasty as they are simple, gingerbread men are the perfect opportunity to get the whole family involved. Make the simple dough and let your kids decorate!
Prep: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minute
INGREDIENTS:
125g butter, softened 2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup

I cup icing sugar
summer popsicles
Don’t deny the kids a tasty, cool treat this Summer. Beat the sugar and the heat with a healthy homemade alternative that looks incredible and tastes even better!
Find this recipe and more at stockland.com.au/shellharbour
2-3 tbsp warm water
Silver cachous to decorate
METHOD:
Preheat oven to 180° Celsius and line two baking trays with non-stick paper.
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until whipped and creamy in consistency.
Beat in maple syrup and egg yolk for 30 seconds.
Fold in mixed spice, ginger, flour and bicarbonate soda until dough is smooth.
Cover with plastic and place in fridge to chill for 30 minutes.
Remove the dough and let it return to room temperature.
Divide into two sections and roll out until it is 5mm thick.
Let the little ones have fun cutting the dough into shapes using a gingerbread cutter.
Place into the oven and cook for 10 minutes.
Remove the gingerbread from the oven and let cool.
Whilst the gingerbread cools, mix the icing sugar with water until it forms a smooth paste.
Place the paste into a piping bag and let the kids decorate until they are content!
For a more traditional gingerbread man, decorate with cachous or go overboard by piling on lollies and Smarties.
