Local schools and nurseries raise £60K for Springhill Hospice

At the end of 2024, schools and nurseries around the Rochdale borough took part in the Springhill Hospice Reindeer Run, where children received sponsorships for activities to raise money for our local hospice.

An annual schools event, Springhill’s Community Fundraiser Jenna, has grown participating numbers from 10 schools in 2022, to a whopping 33 in 2024. That’s more than half the schools in the Rochdale borough. In doing so, together they have almost double last year’s fundraising total of £32,000 to a colossal £60,000.

Fundraiser Jenna said:

“Not only has it helped build strong community relationships, and raise an amazing amount of money, I really do think that me going into local schools with Springhill mascot Springy has really helped younger supporters understand a bit more about the Hospice, what it does and really importantly, that it’s not a scary place. The £60,000 raised will fund 7.5 days or running the Hospice, which is wonderful but goes to show what a huge job we have in fundraising to keep our services going and free to use for anyone in Rochdale who needs them.”

Springhill would like to thank every school and child who got involved and all those who donated, with a special thanks going to Crossgates Community Primary who raised the most money with £7,867.00. He’s to even more in December 2025!
