This 190-foot bridge crosses Robber’s Ravine and is part of the Johnny Cash Art Trail.

T

ell your host that you are from Folsom while visiting anywhere in the US, Germany, Ireland or even China and invariably they will respond “Ah, isn’t that the home of Folsom Prison and Johnny Cash?”

Performed at Folsom Prison in 1968, “Folsom Prison Blues” is one of the most popular songs of all time.

To honor the “Man in Black,” Folsom established the Johnny Cash Trail Art Experience. It is a 3-mile paved cycling/ walking trail with a 190-foot long wooden bridge and a unique prison-designed street overcrossing. The trail links to the city’s comprehensive paved trail system and the American River Parkway.

With this innovative project, Folsom is paving the way for the nation as this venture will be one of the first to combine public art with a comprehensive multi-use trail.

When completed with eight planned art pieces honoring Cash, the trail will be a lasting legacy to a man who literally highlighted Folsom in the minds of the world.

Located in just about every corner of Folsom, tap houses show off the best brews in the region.

In fact, Grist Beer Hall, located in Palladio, offers 50 different brews and the knowledgeable staff will help you pick a favorite.

So many brews, so little time. Ah, but that comment just isn’t true in Folsom.

Twice a year Folsom hosts beer tasting events.
