Jorge Teixeira is the oldest player of STVV at 34 years old. A man with experience who can organize the defense and take the whole team in tow. You rarely hear him yelling, he is a man of few words. But he has influence, vista, can read the game and has an exceptional header. Jorge now lives in Kortessem. Has he been on holiday with his family in Portugal? “Yes. I spent a week in Portugal, ”says Teixeira. “I wanted to visit my family sometime. Everything went safely. Everyone is healthy. In Lisbon there was a brief push for corona, but now everything is under control ”.

Jorge grew up in Lisbon, a beautiful city with a world-famous resort: Cascais. Still, he moved into the distant world quite young. Football brought him to Maccabi Haifa in Israel. “A very beautiful country with special people. No, I never felt unsafe there. ” Zurich, Sienna and London followed. “Switzerland is top quality, a very high level of life. In London I lived to the rhythm of a world city. I lived 10 minutes from the city center and used the metro a lot. ”. In between he played football at Standard. He lived in Liège, the fiery town. “The atmosphere at Standard is unique. I have rarely experienced that ”. Jorge grew to become one of the best central defenders in Belgium at Standard. At STVV he confirmed that reputation. In the new season, his experience can yield 100% because a new team is under construction. His role is crucial. “I am aware of that. I would like to be the architect or engineer of this team. Plot the guidelines of the coach. Steering and adjusting ”.

Kortessem

The world citizen ended up in Kortessem. How was that possible? “I was looking for a quiet place. I went to see many places. Eventually press officer Fiorenzo Mostien, who lives in Vliermaal, brought me to Kortessem ”. Teixeira loves to cycle and jog in the hilly landscapes of Haspengouw. On the hollow roads of Vliermaal, on the old tram route Hasselt-Tongeren, between the Romanesque church towers and endless plantations of cherries, apples and pears. “I enjoy the peace and greenery. I don’t have that much contact with the people yet, but I feel their cordiality ”.

Kiara

Jorge is married to Romane and has a threemonth-old daughter, Kiara. “I do everything for her. That’s why I’m glad I chose a village. The ideal place to relax with a baby ”. He still has a one-year contract with STVV. He still looks quite boyish after a tough preparation for the new season. “My face is still completely okay, but my body is something else. I am aiming for a good season. STVV and its supporters are close to my heart ”. And that also applies in reverse. Two years ago, he was voted the most beautiful player. He is indeed a nice guy!
