Sturgeon County is home to Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, which is one of the world’s most attractive locations for chemical, petrochemical, oil, and gas investment.

The Heartland is home to more than 40 companies that employ more than 30,000 people directly and indirectly. In addition to employing many of our residents, the Heartland provides millions of dollars in non-residential tax revenues to Sturgeon County, which is the County’s primary revenue source.
With this tax revenue, the County can fund its operations, which benefits all property owners. It enables the County to fund emergency services, social and environmental programs, roads and bridges, parks and recreational opportunities, and so much more.
Sturgeon County is committed to investing in the Heartland so it can continue attracting global investors. For example, the County is working with its partners to expand water infrastructure in the area, so future investors have reliable access to affordable, safe water far into the future.
Building infrastructure is costly and can take many years to finalize, but is good news for the community. It will result in greater investment in the Heartland and, in turn, will generate new jobs for our residents and increase municipal revenues that will fund important local services.
