Refunds are available if a program is cancelled by Sturgeon County or for medical reasons. Participants may choose a full refund or account credit.

To withdraw from a program, please email programs@sturgeoncounty.ca. If the withdrawal request is received at least 10 business days before the program starts, a full refund or credit will be provided based on preference.

Early Childhood Programs Note: Children must be potty-trained to participate in early childhood programs. Please ensure your child brings a nut-free snack and indoor shoes.
All About Play
ABC123
This program uses theme-based play activities that support early childhood social development, communication and language skills, and awareness of self and the world. Children will begin to learn their shapes, colours, numbers and letters. This is an excellent program to get children socialized and used to a school-based setting.
This session-based program uses free-play, games, stories, songs and crafts to stimulate children’s early development. Each week incorporates a theme of a letter and a number, and children begin to learn the concepts of letter and number recognition. This is an excellent program to assist children in developing independence and socialization skills needed for entering a school environment. Children must be old enough to enter Kindergarten the following school year.

Moms & Minis is a daytime program designed for mothers (and mother figures) to connect with their little ones while gaining valuable parenting knowledge and resources. Adult General Interest Personal Safety & Self Defence
Holiday Ornament Making
An interactive half-day workshop designed to help young adults build confidence, awareness, and practical safety skills and increased independence. This workshop combines personal safety education with introductory self-defence concepts to help participants recognize risk, make informed decisions, and develop practical strategies to protect themselves if they ever feel unsafe. The focus of this workshop is prevention first, confidence second, and physical skills as an additional tool when needed. Participants will leave with increased awareness, practical techniques, and strategies they can immediately apply in everyday life.

ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day workshop designed to help family, friends and community members identify someone at risk of suicide and provide them with the skills needed to make a life-saving intervention. The ASIST workshop is highly interactive, practical and practice-oriented. It focuses on teaching suicide first-aid to help a person at risk stay safe and seek further help. You do not need any formal training to attend the workshop.

Basic Digital Skills
Explore how supporting your child’s emotional development will build your bond. Open doors to a deeper understanding of your child’s needs with this free eight-week program for caregivers of children 0 to 6 years of age. Free meal included each week, with limited child programming also available. In Partnership with Fort Saskatchewan Families First Society and the Edmonton Military Family Resource Centre.
Book a 45-minute one-on-one session with a Sturgeon Adult Learning Coordinator to get help with basic digital skills. Support is available for topics such as using your device, navigating the internet, email, online safety, social media, and troubleshooting common technology issues. If additional assistance is needed, future appointments can be scheduled. The goal is to help learners build confidence and develop the digital skills needed for everyday life, learning, and work.

Living Well Program Our Living Well team is committed to meeting residents where they are in life, regardless of age or stage. We strive to provide compassionate, comprehensive support tailored to individual needs, helping residents access the resources, services, and guidance they need to enhance their well-being and quality of life.
Counselling Our counselling services are available at no cost to Sturgeon County residents and can be accessed in person at the Sturgeon County Family and Community Services office, by phone, or within the community. Our Community Social Worker provides solutionfocused counselling sessions to support individuals facing a variety of life challenges. You may contact us for assistance with concerns such as stress and anxiety, navigating everyday difficulties, strengthening relationships, and enhancing overall well-being. For situations requiring specialized or longer-term support beyond our scope of service, we can also provide referrals to appropriate community agencies and service providers.
Outreach The Outreach Program is dedicated to providing compassionate, supportive assistance to help residents navigate government services, healthcare systems, and community resources. Our Community Outreach Workers can assist with applications and paperwork for programs such as Income Support. Whether residents are facing immediate challenges or seeking ongoing support, we strive to connect them with appropriate resources and services both within and beyond our region. Through personalized assistance and advocacy, the Outreach Program helps residents overcome barriers, access available supports, and enhance their overall well-being.
