Buskers Times OCTOBER 29 - 31 2021 | SUNSHINE COAST | BUSKERSBYTHELAKE.COM.AU
Love makes the world go ‘round... but doesn’t pay the bills! Buskers by the Lake celebrates the old-fashioned art of busking and our talent are only paid by your tips and purchase of their merchandise. After the year and a half that was, our performers need your support now more than ever! If you like what you see and hear please give generously and grab a cd or ten for your collection…every dollar counts! Share the love between the buskers - we have tip tokens available at our information centre for those wanting to swap some notes.
busker /ˈbʌskə/
noun a person who performs music or other entertainment in the street or another public place for monetary donations.
WELCOME Surrounded by a beautiful grassed area overlooking the tranquil Lake Kawana, this picturesque location is perfect for our region. Whether you live locally or are visiting, the festival offers a familyfriendly program amidst a host of music genres and activities to experience. When mixed together, the inspiring music and picturesque location produce a reflection of our Council’s vision for the Sunshine Coast as Australia’s most sustainable region - healthy, smart, creative.
THIS CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LheartVE... We keep our ticket prices extremely low, so punters can fill their purse with an extra stash of cash to share amongst the buskers. Throw on your psychedelic threads, grab your mates and dates and mojo on down to Lake Kawana, where our kaleidoscope of magic awaits!
Our festival photographers, videographers and University of the Sunshine Coast students will be on the move, capturing your smiles, laughter and good times! Keep an eye on our social pages, as you’re about to become part of our hashtag history.
We’ll be serving up flavour and flair on stage and on your plate, with Spanish, Italian, Asian, Mexican and Brazilian just a few of the featured international foods on the menu to tempt your tastebuds. BYO alcohol is not permitted, with our Heartlands and Bohemian Bars serving up the goods! There’s loads of live music, with everything from blues, folk, rock and more on the line-up. Support the makers and creators at our ‘Buskers Bazaars’, with everything from jewellery to retro treasures up for grabs!
The Buskers by the Lake festival will showcase a talented array of local buskers and bands as well as incredible performers from across Queensland and Australia. Our great natural attractions from our coastline to our hinterland are what makes this region so special so I would like to encourage everyone who is visiting our Sunshine Coast for this lakeside festival to take time to sample some of the experiences, events and locations we have on offer. LHEARTVE & KISSES Buskers by the Lake is organised by a Not For Profit Organisation and we couldn’t possibly keep the dream alive without the enormous support of our partners and community. Sending our love to our Presenting Partners, Hot91 and Sunshine Coast Council and to our Star Partners Your Mates Brewing, Sunshine and Sons, C.A.N., Stick It Signs, Mercure Kawana Waters, Borger Cranes, AB Crane Hire and Gold Coast Barges. Our hats also go off to Eleven Dive Bar, Venue 114, Airlie Beach Festival of Music, Bluesfest Busking and all the media outlets who’ve helped us spread the word Were you following our social pages? Did you listen to our podcasts and playlist? That’s all thanks to the talent of tomorrow from University of the Sunshine Coast, Victoria, Mika, Shandyn, Ciaran, Frida, Fiona, Darci, Ethan, Phoebe, Sasha and Ronan. Rate our Loveland artwork? That’s thanks to Gold Coast Graphic Design and artist Dion Parker who illustrated, painted and created our busker backdrops.
Words cannot express the gratitude we also have for Beau and the team from Studio Untitled who took our baby to the next level and to Cowboy, Aaron from 80 Twenty, Anna from KidzArTSunshineCoast, Visit Sunshine Coast, the team at DW Sound, our friends (you know who you are), volunteers, suppliers and talent – you guys ROCK! Loveland would never have come to life without the enormous support and brotherly love from Joel Jensen – he’s the doer and our lifting hero! My parents and daughters also deserve an enormous amount of love – they’ve continued to support and encourage me over the past seven years and without them, I couldn’t possibly keep the dream alive! Forever Grateful,
