LONGCROSS COURT, CARDIFF

In 2021 Paramount were appointed to undertake an extensive scope of internal office refurbishment works to the reception, toilets and vacant office suites on the 3rd and 4th floor at Longcross – a workspace for Cardiff city centre occupiers.

Creatif was approached by Paramount with a need for fixed panels that could help divide the open plan kitchen and breakout space, which features a variety of seating options. This was achieved by taking panels from our Float agile moving panel system set in position with subtle floor mounts and metal rods connected to the ceiling, which can be seen amongst the array of exposed fixings.

To help reduce excessive noise in this hightraffic area, which is amplified due to the abundance of reflective surfaces such as glass and concrete, an arrangement of acoustic ceiling baffles – crafted from our Mellow acoustic polyester material – were installed in one half of the room. By absorbing sound and trapping it between the verticallysuspended panels, a great level of acoustic comfort is achieved.

Two large horizontally-suspended ReSound acoustic ceiling rafts – at a size of 2,500mm x 1,200mm each – also work to soak up excessive reverberated sound on the opposite side of the room.

MTVH, NOTTINGHAM

Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH) provides affordable housing for people living in London, the South East, East Midlands and East of England.

The fit out specialists at Overbury were appointed to deliver an overhaul of one of MTVH’s several Midlands-based offices located at Waterfront House in Beeston, on the outskirts of Nottingham.

The project, designed by C2, required a solid partition system capable of diving the office’s central open plan space and Creatif was approached for a solution.

Creatif’s Solo system was used to create a moving wall comprising of over 20 panels, which when fully closed works in combination with two fixed walls to form a large meeting or conference space within a sizable open plan area located centrally within the building.

The majority of the panels feature glazed sections which allow for the transfer of light.

A second Solo moving wall system was installed inside the larger meeting space, making it possible to create a pair of smaller spaces when required. All seven panels feature a drywipe surface on both sides, providing extra writing space for group tasks such as brainstorming sessions, or for presentations.

Both systems lock together in place thanks to a special T-junction, forming a tight seal which minimises noise transfer.

The panels can be neatly stacked away within three separate bays, all of which are hidden behind large doors.

OFFICE PRINCIPLES, BIRMINGHAM

Having collaborated with Office Principles on a multitude of projects over years, Creatif was approached to provide a number of solutions for their new regional headquarters based at Coleshill Manor Business Park, Garden Six.

Within the areas designed for collaborative working, horizontallyhung ReSound acoustic ceiling rafts were fitted to minimise noise distraction within the open plan space.

To maximise the use of the space available, a Float agile moving panel system was installed which features both whiteboard panels to allow for collaborative activities and Mellow acoustic polyester panels to further help address any noise-related issues.

Within the boardroom, vertically-hung ReSound acoustic ceiling baffles help to reduce excessive sound reverberation, resulting in a more comfortable and productive environment for meetings, group tasks and video meetings.

SILVERDOOR, LANCASTER

Located on Dalton Square in the heart of Lancaster, this space – home to global accommodation agents, SilverDoor – has been redeveloped to become one of Lancaster’s most prestigious workspaces.

Creatif was approached for a solution that would enable staff to reconfigure the open-plan first-floor space, eliminating the need for fixed walls.

Utilising our acoustic glass moving wall system, Domino, an outer perimeter was created to establish a defined meeting space with passdoors at each end allowing easy access when in use.

For when two smaller meeting spaces are required, a Solo acoustic moving wall system was installed which can be used to split the meeting space in half.

Reverting back to a fully open-plan space takes just minutes by simply and safely stacking away the panels from both systems.

WEIGHTMANS, LEEDS

Weightmans LLP is a top 45 UK law firm which employs over 1,200 people across 8 sites around the country. Wanting to renovate their Leeds site at No1 Whitehall Riverside in the city centre, Weightmans approached commercial interior design, fit-out and furniture services specialist, Ben Johnson Interiors.

Part of Ben Johnson Interiors’ space planning work was to ensure that the variety of workspace solutions (quiet areas, agile working areas) could co-exist harmoniously, so the acoustics were a key aspect of the solution we proposed. Having successfully worked on a number of bespoke acoustic projects in the past, Ben Johnson Interiors approached Creatif for a solution.

Within the open plan space, an arrangement of vertically-hung ceiling baffles sits above a collaboration area. These sound absorbing panels are made from Creatif’s Mellow acoustic polyester material, and feature a high-quality printed finish designed to match the stunning wooden textures on show throughout the space.

A second arrangement of acoustic baffles made using Mellow were also installed within the office’s ‘Social Hub’ – a breakout space with a fully equipped kitchen, designed for staff relax, eat and interact.

Why not use baffles made from real wood? Simple… While beautiful, timber reflects sound soundwaves which has a negative impact on acoustic comfort. In contrast, Creatif’s Mellow polyester absorbs sound which results in reduced reverberation within the space.

UKTV, LONDON

In early 2022 Creatif was approached by workplace design experts at NHQ to help deliver a number of flexible space and acoustic solutions at the London-based home of multi-award winning media company, UKTV.

The space is predominantly open plan, offering staff flexibility and choice in terms of where and how they want to work.

Creatif’s agile moving panel system Float allows the space to be reconfigured in seconds, creating smaller zones when required or allowing for all panels to be stacked away when the entire floorspace is needed.

Drywipe panels provide additional writing space for brainstorming sessions, presentations and more. The panels can be easily locked into position with a compression foot bolt.

A selection of Float panels made from our lightweight acoustic polyester material, Mellow, are also present.

These match the horizontally-suspended acoustic ceiling baffles made from the same material.

These 24mm thick panels offer effective protection against excess reverberation within the space when in use, soaking up unwanted sound bouncing off of the many reflective surfaces on display.

To help further increase acoustic comfort within the space, a number of wall-mounted ReSound acoustic panels were installed.

The 40mm thick panels offer Class A acoustic performance and are wrapped in a market-leading fabric from Camira to compliment the array of soft textiles on show throughout the space.

AQA, MILTON KEYNES

Claremont’s design team (in partnership with Arcadis) were tasked with transforming an empty warehouse in Milton Keynes in to a hybrid working, future flexible workspace for their client, AQA.

The vast, 32,000 sqft space is entirely open-plan, and the new layout incorporates a variety of defined spaces, including a number of collaborative work zones that can be used for group tasks and meetings. Creatif were approached to design, manufacture and install flexible space and acoustic comfort solutions for these collaborative zones.

A number of identical screens were created from our Mellow acoustic polyester material, with a custom-cut pattern to allow for transfer of light, while still helping to define the space. Suspended from our Float moving panel track means they can be moved with ease.

To help absorb excessive reverberation – a problem which is amplified within open-plan spaces containing lots of hard surfaces, such as this one – a number of ReSound acoustic ceiling baffles were also installed. Integrated beautifully with suspended the lighting on display, the horizontal panels are finished in a Camira Blazer fabric.

CONFIDENTIAL CLIENT, LONDON

Back in 2021, NHQ were chosen to design and deliver a new space for a confidential corporate client moving to a larger 20,000sqft home having outgrown their previous location.

Due to the amount of hard, reflective surfaces on show within the breakout area, NHQ approached Creatif for an acoustic solution that would help to reduce excessive sound reverberation.

A number of horizontally-suspended acoustic ceiling baffles made using Creatif’s Mellow polyester panels were installed to increase the level of acoustic comfort within the space, integrated seamlessly with strip lighting.

FRONTIER, LONDON

London-based economic consultancy firm Frontier were looking to refurbish their workplace in preparation for their return to the office following the pandemic.

Wanting to refresh all staff-facing areas and create an inspiring work environment that encourages collaboration and social interaction, they appointed award-winning office design company Oktra to oversee the project.

Having worked successfully on a number of projects in the past, Oktra approached Creatif with the need for a flexible space solution that would enhance collaborative working opportunities.

The existing open plan area was redesigned to become an agile workspace that would inspire interaction between employees, at the centre of which is Creatif’s Float system; a variety of top-hung panels which can be moved to create a number of different layouts within the space.

A number of drywipe panels are present, allowing for extra writing space during group work sessions. These panel lock into place with a simple compression foot bolt to stay still when in use.

Panels made from our Mellow acoustic polyester material act as decorative acoustic absorbers, helping to soak up unwanted sound within the space, while sporting a custom cut-out pattern that allows for transfer of light space while maintaining a level of visual privacy.

FINANCE INSTITUTION, LONDON

Back in 2021, this leading finance institution appointed Overbury and LOM Architecture to deliver a full refurbishment of their 10-floor flagship building located in Spitalfields, London.

Creatif was approached to provide a space division solution within a large, open-plan area situated on the building’s 8th floor.

Float – Creatif’s agile moving panel system – was the perfect solution thanks to the lightweight panels allowing for quick reconfiguration of the space without the need for obtrusive floor track, in addition to the wide range of panel finishes available.

Aluminium mesh panels – which are powder coated to match the sleek ceiling track –not only look stunning, but also feature integrated writable sections that provide collaborative working opportunities, as do the full-height writable panels also that can also be seen.

To compliment the array of textures and colours featured within the design of the wider space, a number of decorative panel finishes were also supplied, including matt lacquered plywood, cork and a fabricwrapped finish. Foot-operated compression bolts allow these panels to be fixed in place while in use.

SAVILLS, MANCHESTER

Property giants Savills wanted to give their Manchester office a re-design following the pandemic. The fit-out, furniture and design specialists at Ultimate Group were tasked with completing the works.

Their design included strip out and re-use of the open plan ceiling and lighting within the office and meeting rooms, seeking assistance from Creatif to design and install acoustic ceiling baffles within these areas.

Our acoustic polyester material, Mellow, was used to create over 50 acoustic baffles in a linear layout that is simple yet striking.

All identical in colour, the horizontallysuspended panels are 24mm in thickness and help to absorb unwanted sound within the large open plan spaces. Excessive reverberation is also trapped between the panels to further enhance acoustic comfort.

MICRO FOCUS, CAMBRIDGE

While there are many benefits to an open plan workspace, they can often suffer from poor acoustics as sound is able to freely travel without resistance. With this in mind, Creatif was approached by Build Generation to provide a number of acoustic solutions when tasked with fitting out the Cambridge-based office of software company, Micro Focus.

Horizontally-hung ReSound acoustic ceiling rafts are super effective when it comes to absorbing excess reverberation within an interior space. A total of 14 fabricwrapped panels were installed, along with over 40 circular ceiling rafts made from Creatif’s Mellow acoustic polyester.

In addition to their absorption qualities, both the ReSound and Mellow rafts trap sound between the panel and ceiling, helping to minimise noise distraction caused when the space is occupied by multiple members of staff.

Three large Mellow polyester screens suspended using wires were also installed to act as a space divider between two seating areas. The central panel features a cutout of the Micro Focus, which appears to glow as light shines through.

SOFTWARE COMPANY, WINNERSH

In early 2022, Creatif was approached by Turner Legg Consulting to assist with flexible space and acoustic solutions after being appointed to fit-out the new offices of a Software Company based in Winnersh.

Two sets of Creatif’s market-leading acoustic moving wall system, Solo, allow the main meeting room to be split into one, two, or three separate spaces. When a single large area is required, the panels can be neatly stacked away, and when smaller spaces are needed they can quickly moved and locked into position.

The acoustic seals which hold each of the panels in place form an effective barrier against sound transfer when the spaces on either side are used simultaneously. The seals also mean no floor track is required, so the carpet remains uninterrupted.

The offices are also home to a fantastic breakout space, designed to encourage social interaction between staff. In addition to the kitchen area and variety of seating options, pool and foosball tables offer a fun way for staff to relax in each others company.

More social interaction inevitably brings with it more noise, too much of which can result in an unpleasant environment. This problem is even more of an issue in interior spaces such as this which contain a large amount of hard, reflective surfaces such as glass.

To enhance acoustic comfort within the space, Creatif supplied and installed an arrangement of vertically-hung ReSound acoustic ceiling baffles. The 40mm thick, fabric-wrapped baffles are a Class A sound absorber, soaking up excessive sound.

Integrated beautifully with a combination of strip and suspended lighting, ReSound helps to create a visual statement from above.

PINNACLE, WELWYN GARDEN CITY

Creatif was approached by Design & Build fit-out specialists Parogon to provide a variety of acoustic solutions and a number of screens to help divide space at the Hertfordshire-based home of Pinnacle Consulting Engineers.

The office is home to a sizeable breakout space, offering a variety of seating options and kitchen facilities.

Multiple people using the same space will of course result in more noise, and where hard surfaces are present – such as windows and solid walls – soundwaves reflect, which creates a chaotic sound environment. To address this, Creatif installed a number of custom-sized suspended ceiling grids made from Mellow polyester. In addition to soaking up unwanted noise, the large ceiling grids trap sound within their many voids.

The main open plan working area features several rows of desks. Being another high-traffic area, another acoustic solution was needed. A variety of fabricwrapped ReSound acoustic ceiling rafts were installed to soak up excessive reverberation.

Lightweight, suspended panels made from Creatif’s Mellow acoustic polyester material were also installed as a simple and stylish space division solution, helping to separate the rows of desks from the rest of the open plan space.

Finally, multiple meeting rooms within the office required similar also treatment due the number of reflective surfaces present.

Installing a number of wall-mounted ReSound acoustic panels has not only addressed the issue of excessive reverberation, but also created a unique focal point in each room.

TALKTALK, SALFORD QUAYS

Being one of the UK’s largest phone, broadband and TV providers, TalkTalk is a brand that needs no introduction.

Creatif were fortunate enough to be involved with the original fitout back in 2016 when TalkTalk agreed to take 106,000 sq ft of the landmark MediaCityUK development Soapworks, located at Manchester’s Salford Quays, on a 15 year lease.

Global commercial real estate services leaders CBRE approached Creatif more recently with the need for a space division solution that would encourage collaborative working.

Float, our agile moving panel system, was chosen as it would allow TalkTalk’s staff to quickly configure spaces. Writable panels help further enable and promote agile working within this open plan space.

In addition, a combination of blue and grey panels made from our ecofriendly Mellow material – which contains 65% recycled plastic bottle flake – provide both visual and acoustic privacy when the space is in use.

NOTTINGHAM

In 2020, our friends over at Absolute Contract Interiors were appointed to transform the Nottingham-based offices of private banking company, Brown Shipley.

Creatif was approached to provide a number of Class A acoustic ceiling rafts that reduce excessive reverberation when the office’s spacious open plan desk area – which is home to a number of workstations – is in use.

All 20 of the horizontally-suspended rafts are wrapped in “Synergy” fabric from Camira Fabrics. A combination of solid and cut-out are present in a variety of different sizes.

BJSS, LEEDS

Manufacturing moving wall systems in-house gives Creatif total design flexibility, allowing for bespoke flexible solutions, such as this one located at the Leeds-based offices of technology solutions providers, BJSS.

Located on the waterfront at the city centre’s Whitehall Quay building, the ground floor offices were in need of a space division solution to separate a meeting room and the main openplan space. BJSS requested a system that could pivot on a single point and be locked into place when needed.

This brief was met by modifying the single point version of Creatif’s market-leading Solo acoustic moving wall system.

The large – yet lightweight – panels are capable of a single, full 360 degree rotation and use a simple locking to fix them in place which can be released with a single touch.

The brightly-coloured graphics have provide a splash of colour on both sides, matching the same design seen on the meeting room walls.
