A residential brief had been given to practice being considerate of the inhabitant’s amenities. This design is paired with a practice of iterations that lead up to a character form that describes the clients. The clients of Altitude Residential located in Marietta, are a family of three with regular family visits. Its inhabitants are a father who specializes in law, a mother who specializes in therapy, and a daughter of eight, who has an interest in ballet. This home has an enjoyable site of art, history, entertainment, and enjoyable restaurants which makes it a great guest stay.

Inspiration for the form and organization of space went through the motion of the ballet and the elegance of dance into a timeless structure. The curves express motion through floating time and the interlocking effect describes the family’s unity.

THE CLAY HOUSE

The Clay House site is located on the Kennesaw State University’s main campus. Due to its cube shape and orientation, the building distributers most light between two sides near dawn and dusk hours. On the south side or the entrance, extennded electrochomic windows clear out harsh glares coming from the west. Steel doors and windows that are adjustable like curtains for the lighting preference and Kiln’s Ventilation. The Clay House encourages the space to be imaginative so that students are comforatable which can enhance their creativity and productivity.

At the entrance of the building, the ceiling is angled, which creates an open perspective. The decision of an angled roof was to let more light into the building and followed to create a drain system that waters both green walls of the facade.

CHARCOL DRAWINGS Lighting within a building is significant as it alters the performance of individials who experience it. The Clay House is an open ceramic studio with light efficiency. This design is focused on having an even distribution of light throughout the day.

The Pigeon Loft is a case study selected to practice digital documentation and brought inspiration based on its design intent. The minimalistic home is located in Chile between La Ligua and Valparaiso. It was built in 2014 by Architects: Horacio Schmidt,Horacio Schmidt Cortes, Martin Schmidt Radic Architectos Asociados. The design’s intent was to recycle materials from the architect’s prior projects. The house was built on the highest elevation point of the land allowing an overlook view.

The architects had a leftover of 37 windows from remodeling a floor of offices in Santiago then decided to put the extra material to use instead of selling or wasting it. Dimensions of the windows are 3.2 meters high with various widths varying between 40 cm and 120cm. After three years of collecting leftover material from previous projects, the architects gathered concrete formwork, wooden ceiling support posts, and a roof of the building site office along with other materials to begin the construction.

The design originated from the experience of Marietta visitors and how they circulate through the square. This comes with the intent of finding a comfortable circulation while visitors explore the art inside the gallery. The name and layout of Peaks United Gallery creates an accessible and welcoming experience to all its guests. 25
