This isn’t just the first issue of the fashion program’s magazine, it’s a reflection of what fashion means to us, how it inspires us, empowers us, and how it makes us feel like home.

It’s more than a publication; it’s a celebration of our journey, our creativity, and of the beautiful story we've been writing since the beginning of this program.

This magazine is the result of hard work, collaborations, and love for what we do. From unforgettable interviews to asking athletes to join us in exploring fashion, a fusion that highlights how fashion can embody the spirit of athleticism while celebrating the unique identity of our school.

This issue holds a special place in my heart because it’s not only our debut, it’s our statement, every page represents a piece of who we are. An issue where we proved that fashion is everywhere, and it can transcend any barrier. This was our chance to showcase our skills, have fun, and create something lasting, something meaningful. I’m incredibly proud to be part of this amazing team. We created this for you, by students, for students.

It was a Tuesday morning, and we were in a classroom we took over, surrounded by all the clothing options we had picked out for the current St Thomas University Fashion Merchandising Design student Catarina Tourinho. The entire STRUT team was there, since we all wanted to be part of it. As we rummaged through two suitcases full of clothes brought by our stylist for our photoshoot later that day, Cat walked in, wearing her usual outfit: an STU sweater, a classic pair of jeans, and her signature fluorescent orange flip-flops.

That’s when the five of us gathered around her, ready to ask our questions.

If you're from Brazil, you already know who Cat is. And if you're not, you might recognize her from her collaboration with Tiffany & Co, or maybe you’ve seen her sitting front row at fashion shows like Paco Rabanne, Burberry, or Lacoste.

When it comes to fashion, Cat is always there. One day she’s sitting next to us in our History of Fashion class, and the next she’s in Paris for Fashion Week.

So of course, the moment we found out she was back in Miami, we knew it was our shot to get an exclusive peek into her world.

STRUT: Can you tell us a little about your background and how you got into fashion?

CAT: Fashion has always been the only thing I wanted to do. Since I was little, I dreamed of becoming a stylist. I used to draw wedding dresses and sell them to my family! It wasn’t a specific person who introduced me to fashion, it was just always a part of me, something I was born with.

STRUT: Why wedding dresses?

CAT: Honestly, I have no idea! I was just drawn to big, puffy princess dresses. Maybe it was meant to be. I guess I was born to be a fashionista guys.

STRUT: What made you decide to pursue fashion as a career, and why did you choose to study in Miami?

CAT: When I was 14, my parents decided that I should go to school here in the U.S. because there are more opportunities here than in Brazil. I went to high school in Boca Raton at American Heritage, which had a fashion program. That’s where I really started building my life around fashion. I took all the fashion classes I could.

I always knew I would study fashion, but I wasn’t sure where. I applied to schools in New York, but I didn’t get accepted, thankfully! I love being here in Miami. The opportunities here are great.

STRUT: So your family moved with you?

CAT: Yes! They didn’t want to just send me away, so we all moved together. My dad was like, “What else is she going to do if not fashion?” So they made the decision to move so I could study what I love.

STRUT: That’s amazing! What other schools did you apply to?

CAT: I applied to Parsons and FIT, all the big New York schools. But I applied for fashion design, not knowing I could have applied for fashion merchandising. And, well, I’m not a designer! I can’t design anything.

STRUT: But weren’t you sketching wedding gowns?

CAT: Yeah, but clearly that wasn’t enough! So Miami turned out to be the right place for me.

STRUT: Growing up in Brazil, how did your cultural background influence your style and how you see fashion?

CAT: In my city, people always dress up. Here in the U.S., you can go to school in jeans, hoodies, even PJs. But in Brazil, it’s like a fashion show every day. Even going to the mall means dressing up, doing your hair. Also, Brazilian culture is so colorful and vibrant, it’s like a party everywhere!

STRUT: Do you think that colorful culture still influences your style?

CAT: Maybe, but I moved here at 14, so my style has evolved a lot.

STRUT: You’ve built a following of over 650,000 people! How did you start as an influencer, and what was it like when your audience started growing?

CAT: I was super shy in middle school in Brazil, but when I moved here, I started vlogging my life. My high school was so different, we had uniforms and rules, it felt like a TV show! I started filming just for my friends in Brazil, posting on YouTube, and then it took off. My first video, "First Day of School in the U.S.," went viral, and from there, I started vlogging my fashion classes, drawings, and daily life.

STRUT: Did you ever think you’d become an influencer?

CAT: No! The term ‘influencer’ didn’t even exist. I thought I’d just work in fashion, maybe in a corporate job. But everything happened so organically.

STRUT: Has it helped you come out of your shell?

CAT: Yes! I had to learn how to put myself out there. I’m still shy, but I know how to handle it now.

STRUT: What’s been the most rewarding part of being an influencer in fashion?

STRUT: Do you think your presence on social media gives you a different perspective on fashion than what you learn in school?

CAT: Definitely. In school, we take our time learning, but in fashion, everything happens so fast. It’s important to have a background in both.

STRUT: What trends do you see emerging?

CAT: Office-wear outside the office, suits at fashion events and dinners. Also, minimalism is coming back. After the pandemic, people wanted to buy and wear everything, but now it’s shifting again.

STRUT: Has it helped you come out of your shell?

CAT: Yes! I had to learn how to put myself out there. I’m still shy, but I know how to handle it now.

STRUT: What’s been the most rewarding part of being an influencer in fashion?

CAT: Fashion show invitations! When brands only have a few seats for influencers, and I get invited, that’s the best part. My first big one was Paco Rabanne in Paris, and that’s when everything really started happening.

STRUT: What’s been the biggest challenge of juggling school and being an influencer? How do you stay organized and motivated?

CAT: Honestly, I feel like I’m struggling all the time! It’s hard to balance both because I can’t give 100% to either. I just push through and use my calendar to keep everything organized. My professors are super understanding, which helps a lot.

STRUT: What’s your typical day like?

CAT: I start my day with coffee, go to class, and then schedule all my meetings for after school. If I have class in the morning, I work in the afternoon and vice versa.

STRUT: What’s been the most memorable experience as a fashion student?

CAT: Meeting so many different people from around the world. In fashion, you network a lot, but school gives you time to really connect with people.

STRUT: What do you like most about the St. Thomas fashion program?

CAT: You guys! And Ashlee, I love her, Ashlee if you're reading this I love you! (Laughs) STRUT: How do you stay up-todate with fashion trends?

CAT: I like seeing what people are wearing in different places.

TikTok trends are so repetitive, but real street style is fresh.

When I travel, I watch what girls my age are wearing and take inspiration from that.

STRUT: Your content feels so natural and organic.

Do you plan everything in advance?

CAT: Not at all! I just do it.

I post whatever I feel like at the moment.

STRUT: Do you feel social media gives you a different perspective than school?

CAT: 100%. Fashion is fast-paced, but school helps you understand the foundations. For example, when I went to Schiaparelli, I appreciated it so much more because of what I learned in class about the brand’s history, things that I wouldn’t know if it wasn’t because of my fashion classes.

STRUT: For students that are interested in becoming fashion influencers what advice will you give them when it comes to building a personal brand or growing their following?

CAT: I’m gonna say something very cliché, but you just have to post and be yourself. You gotta be the person you are with your friends.

STRUT: So you recently launched your clothing brand Rosie. Can you tell us what inspired you to take the lead into creating your own brand and how is it going?

CAT: I have a very simple style.

I don’t own that many clothes so I created this brand not only for people with simple styles like me, but for everybody that needs good quality basics.

STRUT: How did the launch of the brand go?

CAT: It was amazing. People actually enjoyed it because they know how it connects to me. And it's all good quality, which is what I cared about the most.

STRUT: And when you started to work on Rosie?

CAT: I started working on this project two years ago. I have an amazing team working on Rosie with me in Brazil. If I wouldn’t have them I don’t know what I would do, when you are building your own brand you need to have people that you trust to do it with you, it's a lot of responsibility.

STRUT: What is next for you, what is next for Rosie?

CAT: I want to keep doing fashion, I want to keep going to these amazing fashion shows and keep surrendering myself with fashion. And for Rosie, I want my brand to become the next Uniqlo, whenever someone needs a basic I want them to go to Rosie and get it. I always aim very high, you have to aim very high.

STRUT: You are right! That was our last question, thank you Cat, that was fun.

CAT: Thank you girls! Now I am leaving, I have to run to class.

“sometimes OPPORTUNITIES comes from the most UNEXPECTED places & people”

Right around 6pm, she arrived, dressed in her office attire; and for a moment it felt like the old times, like she was still a student, heading to class with us. But it was clear, Sofia had leveled up, one of our own was now making major moves at a big-name company. And as she tried the clothes we brought for her photoshoot we jumped into the interview, eager to hear all about her new life as a professional in the industry.

Now a full-fledged professional, Sofia works as a Merchandise Coordinator at Starboard Cruise Services, the same company where she first got her start with an internship offered to St Thomas University students.

With her now packed work schedule, we knew catching her for an interview would have to happen after her 9 to 5 office hours. So, on a laid-back Wednesday, the entire STRUT team stayed after class, and waited for Sofia to arrive.

When we started brainstorming about a standout alumni from last year, Sofia Saldarriaga a former graduate from St Thomas University fashion merchandising and design program instantly came to our mind. It was an easy choice, her energy and passion is definitely something missed around here.

STRUT: Hi Sofia, how are you today?

SOFIA: I'm good! I don't know why I'm feeling a little shy, but okay, we'll just jump in.

STRUT: Can you share a bit about your experience at St. Thomas University and how your time there prepared you for your current career?

SOFIA: My time at St. Thomas was a really positive experience, especially since I transferred there. I came from an art school and needed a place to finish my degree. Everyone at St. Thomas was very welcoming and helped make the transition smooth. It gave me a strong foundation and opened a lot of great opportunities in fashion. I also built meaningful relationships and found important mentors who helped guide my career.

Honestly, I truly believe everything happens for a reason, even though I was there for only three semesters, it made a huge difference in my journey.

STRUT: Were there any specific professors, courses, or extracurricular activities at St. Thomas that had a significant impact on your career path?

SOFIA: Definitely, Ashlee, she was a huge part of my transition. She made me feel welcomed and helped with everything from enrolling in classes to transferring credits. She made everything easier, especially since the change happened so fast. As for extracurricular, participating in the fashion show during my last year was a highlight.

It gave me experience in event organization, working with designers and vendors, and figuring out what part of the fashion industry I was drawn to, whether it was behind the scenes or elsewhere.

STRUT: How did your education at St. Thomas University shape your work ethic and skills in the professional world?

SOFIA: My experience at St. Thomas taught me the importance of adaptability, which is essential in today’s fastpaced world, especially in fashion. The classes were very industryfocused and exposed us to real-world scenarios.

Plus, the university puts a big emphasis on leadership and teamwork, which really prepares you for any professional environment.

STRUT: What was your most memorable experience at St. Thomas, and how did it influence your career decisions?

SOFIA: One memorable project was a fashion branding assignment where we had to create a brand from scratch. It helped me connect what we were learning in class to real-world applications, understanding consumers, market trends, and branding strategies. It was really fun and fulfilling to work on it all semester and see the final result. Of course, the fashion show also stands out as an incredible experience.

STRUT: How did your transition from St. Thomas to Starboard happen? What steps did you take after graduation to get to this point?

SOFIA: I was lucky, and worked really hard for it!

Starboard came to St. Thomas to interview students for a summer internship. I was selected for a 10-week internship, which gave me a deep understanding of the company and industry.

They rotated us through different departments, buying, planning, marketing, so we could learn about the full operation. That experience made the transition into a full-time role much easier.

After the internship, they extended it for a month, and by September, I was offered a fulltime position.

STRUT: Can you walk us through your current role at Starboard Cruise Services and what a typical day looks like for you?

SOFIA: Sure! I’m currently a Merchandise Coordinator for apparel, handbags, and accessories at Starboard. Starboard manages retail operations on major cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Silversea. We like to say we buy everything from Pringles to Prada! A typical day involves working with vendors, managing stock, setting up items in our system, and helping build assortments for different cruise ships. I also assist my boss, who is the buyer for my category, by helping with product selection.

STRUT: What skills or knowledge from St. Thomas University have been the most useful in your position at Starboard?

SOFIA: Honestly, almost everything we learned is useful. Courses like visual merchandising, consumer behavior, trend forecasting, and textiles all gave me important foundations.

Beyond the classes, the mindset of constantly wanting to learn, like researching trends on WGSN, has been crucial. Understanding consumer behavior, staying on top of trends, and thinking fashionforward are all skills that St. Thomas helped me build. Also, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving were heavily emphasized, and they've made a big difference in my day-today work.

STRUT: What are some challenges you face in your current role, and and how do you approach overcoming them?

SOFIA: Fashion is so fast-paced; trends and consumer behavior change almost almost daily. Sometimes we decisions that don’t work out the way we planned, so we have to pivot quickly . to still meet our goals. Also, transitioning from being a student to working fulltime in a corporate environment was a big adjustment. You're suddenly surrounded by people with decades of experience, and you have to constantly stay sharp, deliver strong results, and never take your opportunity for granted.

STRUT: Do you see yourself continuing at Starboard long-term?

SOFIA: Yes, definitely. There’s a lot of room for growth within Starboard. My current role is one of the entry-level roles, and from here, you can move into buying, planning, product development, and more. Cruise retail is its own unique world, and I’m excited to keep learning STRUT: Do you feel your time at St. Thomas and exploring where it could take me. helped you in securing your internship and STRUT: What are some of the most exciting current role at Starboard? projects or initiatives you’ve been involved with SOFIA: Yes. I also made really great challenge. I also love attending buying shows and friends during the little time I was here. That’s honestly my favorite from professors, and just having that network part of the year! has helped me so much.

STRUT: Looking back at your time at St. Thomas, what advice would you give current students who are aspiring to work in the cruise or retail industries?

SOFIA: I would say to take advantage of every opportunity, gain as much experience and knowledge as you can. Whether it's volunteering at the fashion show, working at school events, attending conferences, or networking events, just do it. Sign yourself up and don't be scared!

Talking to new people and stepping outside your comfort zone is key.

Fashion is such a fast-paced industry, and being adaptable and openminded is crucial. Also, always be ready to sell yourself, when you meet someone, show your passion, ask for opportunities, and put yourself out there. Sometimes opportunities come from the most unexpected places and people, so you have to stay open and proactive.

She IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFashion Merchandising and Design established textile licensing agreements across IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIprogram’s long-awaited journey to Italy, the U.S., giving women access to garments that there’s no better moment to celebrate one of the echoed independence and power. most influential — yet often under-recognized — Italian fashion visionaries of the 20th century: Elsa Schiaparelli. Born in Rome in 1890, Schiaparelli was more than a designer — she was a pioneer. A single mother at a time when women were expected to fade into domesticity, Schiaparelli instead burst onto the fashion scene with designs that didn’t whisper; they screamed with boldness!

Her designs were daring and often scandalous for the era — she introduced culottes (cropped wide-leg pants) that sent shockwaves through high society, especially in England. Her work blurred the lines between haute couture and sportswear, infusing comfort, movement, and modernism into high fashion long before athleisure was even a thought. Schiaparelli was a master of contrasts: black and white, neon brights, soft silhouettes and powerful shoulders.

She incorporated daring motifs into her work — skeletons, sailor tattoos, surrealist prints — collaborating with the likes of Salvador Dalí to create wearable art like the unforgettable Lobster Dress.

Hollywood icons such as Marlene Dietrich, Katharine Hepburn, and Lauren Bacall became devoted fans — women who, like Elsa, carved their own paths in a man’s world. In 1934, Schiaparelli made history as the first female fashion designer to grace the cover of TIME magazine — a landmark moment not just for her, but for women in the industry everywhere.

And of course, who could forget Shocking Pink?

That vibrant, electric hue that radiates femininity, confidence, and boldness all at once — a color Elsa herself introduced with her iconic fragrance Shocking. To this day, it remains a personal favorite. Nothing announces your arrival in a room quite like a burst of shocking pink.

Today, thanks to creative director Daniel Roseberry, the House of Schiaparelli is alive once again, honoring its founder’s original legacy of surrealism. The brand continues to defy the norms within the world of Haute Couture. It’s a bold homage to a woman who referred to herself simply as Schiap! As we prepare to walk the streets of Rome, Florence, Milan, and Venice, I hope we will carry the spirit of Elsa Schiaparelli with us — fearless and forever shocking

If you're interested in the production side of fashion shows, there's one name you absolutely need to know: John Martinez. The founder and owner of John Martinez Productions, a company he funded in the summer of 2012. John has taken his work to major fashion hubs like New York, Miami, and California. When it comes to fashion show production in the U.S., John is the guy.

Here at St. Thomas University, we’re lucky to have built a strong connection with him. Whenever John needs extra support backstage at his shows, we’re one of the first places he reaches out to for volunteers. It’s been an incredible opportunity for us, the students, to get real-world experience alongside one of the best in the business.

For years now, John has been a huge supporter and mentor to many of us. His career in the fashion industry is truly something to look up to, and we couldn't think of anyone better to highlight for our very first edition.

If you know John, you know he’s always on the go, traveling, planning, and producing his next big show. So after asking (very nicely!) if we could capture some behind-the-scenes moments at one of his events, he made time for us.

The next day, we jumped on a Zoom call and got to hear all about his journey.

After hours of fascinating stories and hearing firsthand how much hard work and resilience it took for him to get to where he is today, we can confidently say: John Martinez is just getting started.

STRUT: How did your career in fashion take off?

JOHN: I’ve always been competitive, which helped me advance quickly. My mom was always keeping an eye out for opportunities, and one day, she found a major design competition in Los Angeles. She encouraged me to enter, saying they wouldn’t know I was still in school. I put together a collection, submitted it, and won.

Mrs. Parsons was surprised because I had only just started fashion school. Winning that competition led to more opportunities, but the major turning point was when I won the Jump to the Mall competition with Air France in Paris. I was the first American to win it, and that victory helped me secure legal status in the U.S. Not only did I get my papers, but I was also able to sponsor my family, including my mother and brothers.

Mrs. Parsons accepted the award on my behalf because, at the time, my visa didn’t allow me to travel to Paris. I will always be grateful to her and to the school for the opportunities they gave me.

STRUT: How was the transition from sports to art school?

JOHN: The transition was interesting because sports and art school are two completely different worlds. Initially, I thought art school would be a fun, collaborative space where everyone would get along. But I quickly realized that the fashion industry is highly competitive.

It wasn’t just about making friends, everyone wanted to be the best.

STRUT: At what point did you realize fashion show production was the right fit for you?

JOHN: Funny enough, I didn’t study fashion show production, I studied fashion design. After graduating, I was offered an internship at Dior in Paris, but I couldn’t accept it because I still didn’t have my papers.

Plus, my family was struggling financially, and moving to Paris without financial support wasn’t an option.

I ended up moving to New York and got a job with Anna Sui, but I didn’t enjoy it. I stayed in New York and later worked for Ralph Lauren, but I still didn’t feel completely fulfilled. Like many first jobs in the fashion industry, I wasn’t making much money, and living in New York was financially challenging.

One of the judges from the Hispanic designer competition I had won earlier was the editor of the Washington Post. She reached out to me because her assistant had just quit to go on tour with NSYNC. She needed a replacement and offered me the position.

Since D.C. wasn’t far from New York, I took the opportunity and started assisting her, primarily working on fashion events and magazine projects.

That’s when I got into show production.

Working closely with someone so experienced taught me a lot. I always tell people to learn from the best because it helps develop good work ethics. She was fabulous, she looked the part, she embodied fashion, and she understood that, in this industry, presentation matters. Unlike other fields where your work speaks for itself, in fashion, you are your business card. Your personal style and presence influence how you’re perceived.

STRUT: What has been your most memorable or defining project so far, and why?

JOHN: Defining moments come in different forms, some are about financial success, some about working with incredible people, and others about achieving something completely on your own. Creatively, one of my highlights was working with John Galliano on a show for Oscar de la Renta. Never in my wildest dreams as a student did I think I'd have that opportunity. It was surreal to have someone like Galliano asking for my opinion. At that moment, you realize you have to trust yourself, you’re there for a reason.

Financially and professionally, another defining moment was working on massive projects like Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda. These weren’t just big opportunities for me but also for my entire team.

When you lead a production, your name is on everything, and the responsibility is immense. These experiences, while different, shaped me in unique ways.

STRUT: Fashion show production requires a unique blend of creativity and logistics. Can you walk us through your process?

JOHN: The first and most important factor is the budget. You can’t start dreaming until you know exactly what resources you’re working with. Even the biggest brands have budgets, and you have to make things happen within those constraints.

When I started producing shows for Oscar de la Renta, I had to manage casting, production, and logistics while ensuring I met my numbers. It doesn’t matter if you’re booking supermodels like Gisele or Naomi, you still have to justify the budget. In today’s industry, over 50% of my work revolves around financial logistics, with creativity coming after that.

Once the budget is set, we build the foundation, venue, stage design, lighting, casting, and only at the very end do we focus on details like flowers and aesthetics. The show’s success is built from the ground up, not the other way around.

STRUT: What has been your biggest-budget show?

JOHN: Some of the biggest budgets I’ve worked with have been New York and Paris Fashion Week shows, including those at the Louvre. But one of the most expensive shows I produced was in Mexico City at the oldest bullfighting ring in the world. It cost over $5 million.

We had 89 models, including Victoria’s Secret supermodels, and the venue itself was historic. What we didn’t anticipate was the lingering smell of the arena, which we spent days masking with scented candles. The logistics were intense, at one point, I was literally chasing Candice Swanepoel at the airport to retrieve a borrowed dress. If she had left the country with it, our entire collection would have been stuck in customs. That’s the reality of fashion show production, it’s not just glamour; it’s problem-solving at every turn.

STRUT: The fashion industry can be notoriously tough.

Were there any moments when you thought about quitting? How did you overcome them?

JOHN: When I first moved to New York, I struggled. I never thought about quitting entirely, but I questioned whether it was right for me. Balancing artistic passion with financial survival was tough, I had to take other jobs just to stay afloat. New York demands so much from you, even if you have an amazing job.

But I always tell people: everyone should live in New York at least once. It builds resilience. If you can make it there, you can overcome anything. That’s why I ultimately moved to Miami, not for my career, but for a better quality of life. It turned out to be a great decision, but it was a personal choice first, not a strategic career move. You have to like where you live because, in a creative field like fashion, your happiness directly affects your work.

STRUT: What is the most important element of a fashion show that people don’t realize?

JOHN: Timing. It’s crucial, and it’s something no one can teach you. It’s about knowing your audience and reading the energy of the room. A show isn’t just about the clothes, it’s about how you control the rhythm and mood. You can’t force an audience to like something; you have to guide them into the experience. That instinct, knowing when the audience is ready, when to cue the music, when to let the energy rise, is what separates a good show from an unforgettable one. In a way, fashion shows are like theater. You don’t fight the wind; you move with it.

STRUT: What advice would you give to aspiring fashion professionals?

JOHN: In fashion, you can’t wait for an invitation, you have to create your own opportunities. Don’t wait for the perfect job; build the career that excites you.

Fashion isn’t about titles, desks, or being a supervisor, it’s about passion. Whether you’re working with two people or 100, you need to love what you do.

It’s also important to understand that this industry requires sacrifices. You have to marry your job. That’s not for everyone, and that’s okay. But if you’re serious about fashion, you have to be all in. Be prepared for challenges, but also be open to unexpected opportunities. If you stay dedicated and proactive, you’ll find your place in the industry.

“Flourish” was the name of this year's annual Fashion Design and Merchandising program’s Fashion and Food Showcase, a true celebration that has now become a cherished tradition at St. Thomas University. This event, organized entirely by our students, has evolved into the Met Gala of our campus, with everything from show production to hair and makeup curated by the talented minds of our student body.

The runway was graced by Designer: Moriel Yaeli incredible designers such as Yas González, Sebastian Grey, Sharon Ospino, and House of Suits. Each presenting their stunning collections. However, this year was especially significant. In celebration of the launch of our Design Program and the opening of our Fashion Lab, for the first time ever, one of the collections showcased was created by our very own students. Using recycled garments donated by McDonald’s, ten students crafted their own unique designs. An event brimming with fashion, delectable food, and a sense of joy and pride, this fashion show has solidified its place as an iconic tradition, and we can’t wait to see what next year brings.

Sara Rossetti was recently named the winner of the McD’Couture competition, a creative challenge born from an internship experience some of our fashion students took part in. The goal? To design a garment using recycled materials from McDonald’s.

SARA: This experience was really special to me because it was my first time ever making a dress! Using paper products made it even more unique and creative. I started with the idea of adding fringes to create movement and make the design feel dynamic.

Working with materials like straws and cardboard boxes was a real challenge, they were both delicate and thick, which made them hard to sew. I had to hand sew each piece because a sewing machine couldn't handle the materials.

It took a couple of weeks to finish everything, but I’m so happy with the result.

Winning was such a surprise! I couldn’t believe it! It really boosted my confidence and made me proud of what I accomplished on my own. All the hard work paid off. What made it even better was sharing the experience with my classmates and my teacher Karina, who supported me from the very beginning.
