DAY 1 POTTER TO PETRA Day one saw 20 excitable Brits jump aboard thier steeds, eager to feel the sun on their backs after a cold, harsh winter in the UK. The 70 miles spun by effor tlessly as the groups gelled right away and the novelty of an alfresco cafe stop in March filled ever yone with joy. Day one of a holiday wouldn’t be complete without an afternoon Cer veza in the sun so we headed home via the por t to catch the last 50km of the Milan San-Remo.

DAY 2 SANT SALVADOR It

was

time

to

our

climbing legs and get a taster of the long, sinuous

climbs that

await us in the days to come... ...but not before more cafe con leche and cake. It was here on the pictureque

in

MontuĂŻri that the banter began to flow, nicknames were dished out and our 20 guests were star ting to resemble a tight-knit team of

DAY 3 THE MOUNTAINS 27 degress - in March!

Even

the locals were losing the layers. For us Brits, it was the perfect oppor tunity to define the tan lines we’ll be brandishing back home. Today the climbers of the camp came into their own as we took on some tough ascents including the Col D’Orient. After refuelling in Bunyola Square it was time to tackle the infamous hairpins Col de sa Batalla. It will be the rapid descent from the summit that will stick in riders’ minds. After the sweeping corners down the mountain, the freshly tarmaced 8km run-in to Pollenca was a thrill.

DAY 4 PARADISE For some, the 25 mile leg loosener to Cala San Vincente was the highlight of the trip. In one large peloton, the camp descended

into

this

sleepy,

secluded fishing por t as if they’d stumbled upon Leo Dicaprio’s beach. After a few solid days of riding, the accomplished pack devoured the best apple cake on the island and took time to soak up the surroundings as their legs soaked up the training.

DAY 5 THE BIG ONE Completing this epic route is an accomplishment in itself. To utterley smash it - among a solid training week is remarkable. What made it so easy? Two groups riding like well-oiled machines. Riders rolled effor tlessly over Valdemossa; rewarded with the awesome descent to Deia for lunch More fun, fast descending into Soller was soon followed by the infamous Puig Major. At16km it’s the longest climb on the island. The self-proclaimed ‘big hitters’ were eager for more, so Matt took them over to Sa Calobra to see how they fared on this musttr y Strava segment.

DAY 6 LET IT ALL OUT Today was our last chance to enjoy motoring along in the group, to empty the tank and to leave it all out there on the road up to Randa. At the monaster y the usual banter over baguettes was muted by over tones of sadness as we all knew the time was coming to leave the pro lifestyle behind but sadder still, say goodbye to newfound cycling pals.
