DEAR RIDERS Welcome to Bike on Bellway; an opportunity to escape the office and enjoy the great outdoors - by bike - alongside your colleagues from across the Bellway divisions. Our host for the morning is Struggle Events, which specialises in corporate hospitality by bike. As Yorkshire’s leading cycling events company Struggle Events has been selected as the Official Tour Guides for the 2019 UCI Road World Championships which will take place over nine days in Yorkshire in September. In this Road Book you’ll find all the information you need to take part in the day. We hope you enjoy the ride.

SIGN-ON DATE: Wednesday 19 June 2019 LOCATION: Rockliffe Hall Hotel, Hurworth on Tees, Darlington, DL2 2DU TIME: Sign-on 8:00-8:30am outside the Orangery, Rockliffe Hall BIKE COLLECTION: Once signed-on, make your way to the front of the hotel to collect your bike. Ensure you leave plenty of time for us to make any adjustments to your set-up. RIDE: Ride groups leaving from 9:00am

PRE-RIDE Once you have signed on, collect your bike and ensure you feel comfortable. Please leave plenty of time for any necessery adjustments. Once all riders have signed on and collected their bikes we’ll hold a safety briefing where you will meet your ride leader. We’ll then and then set off in small ability groups with the slower riders leaving first.

WHAT TO BRING - Bike (if bringing own) - Pedals: if you are hiring a bike but have your own at home, you can bring your own shoes and pedals which can be fitted for you. If not, all bikes will be fitted with flat pedals suitable for trainers - Cycling shoes or trainers - Helmet (compulsory). Please ensure you have booked a hire helmet prior to the event - Jersey (or technical t-shirt), cycling shorts and a lightweight jacket or rain coat - Water bottle

ROUTE Our route for the Bike on Bellway will take us around the quiet, flat country lanes en route to Richmond. We’ll have a lumpy few miles before it’s then downhill all the way home. View or Download the Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30230943

CAFE STOP No bike ride is complete without a coffee and cake cafe stop en route. Our stop on the Bike on Bellway is The Station cafe in Richmond located 16 miles along the route.

SUPPORT CAR

The Struggle support cars will be en route should you need any assistance with your bike or any mechanical problems.

Ride Leaders

Each group will be chaperoned by an expert ride leader, who will be directing you along the route but can also assist you should you need any help.

POST-RIDE LUNCH

We’ll refuel post-ride at The Orangery Restaurant at Rockliffe Hall ar 12:30pm, with a well-deserved gourmet buffet lunch, when we can relax and enjoy the post-ride banter.

SAFETY This event is not a race it is a personal challenge. The function of ride leaders is only to indicate direction and you are responsible for deciding when it is safe to cross traffic, overtake riders and to moderate your speed. You are reminded that the event is run on open public roads with all riders being expected to obey the Highway Code. Not co-operating with items raised in the ride briefing or inconsiderate/illegal riding may have implications on the running of future events. Riders who don’t co-operate will be asked not to continue on the event. The wearing of a hard shell helmet is mandatory. In the event of a medical emergency you call 999. T&Cs You are participating in this event at your own risk. You must rely on your own ability in dealing with all hazards. You must ride in a manner which is safe for yourself and others. If you do not abide by these terms and conditions you will be removed from the event. By entering the event you agree that no liability whatsoever shall attach to Struggle Events in respect of any injury, loss or damage suffered by yourself in or by reason of the event. Event organisers reserve the right to change the route or cancel the event in the event of unforeseen circumstances including severe weather conditions.
