SITE ANALYSIS

The key in marina design is to first know how to build and where to build it. Understanding the natural element of a site is essential for the orientation, position, optimization, and the selection of the proper anchoring method, while respecting environmental regulations, best practices, and local customs.

4 ANCHORING

A marina without an anchoring system is no better than a boat without one. There are multiple anchoring methods, each with their pros and cons. We specialize in selecting and designing the best site-specific-system, based upon all the site parameters.

7 CONSTRUCTION

With more than 25,000 boat slips installed in a variety of countries, we built a network of qualified marine contractors to execute the installation. To ensure quality control and warranty specifications, we assign one project manager and one site technician to each project throughout the construction process.

MASTERPLAN

2 3

Experience matters when it comes to optimizing the boat sizes and capacity of a marina. We take special care of the manoeuvrability, water depth, walking distances, boat orientation, etc. We make sure that all our marinas are the most comfortable to the users and are maximised to be financially attractive to the owners.

ENGINEERING

Structurmarine pontoon systems are designed with a proven 40-year life cycle. Each project is engineered in house by our experienced team and sealed by our global network of third-party engineers to meet local regulations anywhere we dive into a project.

6 5 R&D MANUFACTURING

We have developed a strict and rigorous procedure for selecting the materials and suppliers with whom we work with in order to guarantee the longevity and excellent performance of our projects. When we can't find a component that meets our standards, we simply build our own.

Our 35,000 sq/ft manufacturing plant, certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau, allows us the flexibility of execution and exceptional control over the quality and schedule of the work.

9 8 PERFORMANCE DESIGN & AESTHETICS

Our marinas are stable, solid, and low maintenance. Our design process begins by considering the most difficult climate conditions, whether you are on the Red Sea, the Atlantic Coast, or in the Great Lakes, the performances of our marinas exceed expectations.

Our design is equal in superiority to our engineering excellence. Our portfolio of impressive projects is a testimonial to the attention we place on detail, forms, and functions.

NEWPORT HARBOUR MARINAS

NEWPORT, RHODE ISLAND, USA

Located in one of the most exposed areas of the Harbour, Newport Marina owners were the pioneers in replacing their aged wooden docks by Structurmarine’s innovative aluminium floating pontoon system back in 2008.

Later in 2012, Newport Marina survived Hurricane Sandy with the most destructive winds and waves leaving negligible damage. From that time on, Casey’s Marina, International Yacht Restoration School, Brown & Howard Wharf and other neighbors considered Structurmarine as their sole docks supplier.

Our technology led to improvements to the load capacity, reduction of maintenance and winterization costs, while enhancing the overall aesthetics of the marinas.

Newport Marina is designed for yachts up to 45 m (150 ft) in site exposed to 1.2 m (4 ft) waves, winds of 45 knots and storm surges of 3 m (10 ft).

EMERY COVE YACHT HARBOR

EMERYVILLE, CALIFORNIA, USA

San Francisco Bay is home to one of the densest pleasure craft fleets in North America. The strategic location of the Emery Cove Marina near the Bay Bridge was a major project that took 26 months to complete, from contract signing to final delivery.

The renovation was carried out, section by section, with boats remaining at the marina in a temporary docking system, while debris was carefully managed by the owner so that the marina could maintain its Clean Marine environmental certification.

The members and management of this marina have benefited from our ability to plan, organize, communicate, and resolve problems encountered in effectively achieving the objective, all while providing the best technology available.

The mandate was to replace 430 double finger berths from 9 m (30 ft) to 18 m (60 ft) and supply a floating breakwater designed for waves in the range of Hs 600mm (2 ft) and 2 sec.

PUTERI HARBOUR

STRAITS OF JOHOR, MALAYSIA

A metropolis in the making, known as Nusajaya City, encompasses Puteri Harbour – a premier waterfront and marina development. Puteri Harbour features another prestigious Structurmarine marina with large walkways and generous spacing between fingers.

The outer pontoons are custom fitted to the curved basin walls accommodating a tidal variation of 4 m (13 ft). The underwater flexible anchoring is secured to heavy anchors, rather than pilings, providing the marina with a more attractive setting for the docked yachts.

Private Marina designed for 260-berth, will accommodate super yachts of up to 100 m (328 ft).

MARINEMAX FORT MYERS FLORIDA, USA

The MarineMax Fort Myers is a custom-fabricated marina designed to fulfill the client’s request for the use of interlocking paving blocks on the pontoons to match the blocks already used on shore. This required tank testing of prototypes, complex buoyancy calculations and mechanical design by our engineering team.

This site had challenging manoeuvring parameters due to the strict mangrove regulations and a narrow canal. Berthing at an angle on private patios proved to be a successful solution.

The 133-berth marina was designed for boat-size ranges of 12 m (40 ft) to 21 m (70 ft), wind load of 130 km/hour (80 miles/hour) – Hurricane Cat. 1 – at full occupancy and 225 km/hour (140 miles/hour) – Hurricane Cat. 4 –unoccupied and exposed to waves in the range of Hs 610mm (2 ft), Period3 sec, brackish Water – 2.5 m (8 ft) storm flood.

MARINA DU PORT DE QUÉBEC QUÉBEC, CANADA

Anchored in the historic city of Québec, the Marina du Port de Québec and developed around the old piers, alongside the public harbour bathing area with the dimensions of an Olympic swimming pool, are both of which are near the emblematic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac.

The fully equipped 425-berth marina, capable of accommodating yachts of up to 60 m (200 ft), was a landmark in the construction of a modern marina, as it was the first system of engineered aluminum frame marinas in North America.

The Port of Québec is an affirmation of the main attributes and strengths that make aluminum become the material of choice in the construction of marinas and floating structures.

The marina has weathered over 30 harsh Canadian winters in layers of ice up to 1.2 m (4 ft). During the navigation season, the marina's flexible anchoring system allows for more than 25 lockage operations per day with a 4.5 m (15 ft) anchorage tidal variation.

FORE POINTS MARINA

PORTLAND, MAINE

Fore Points Marina floats along Portland's waterfront, which has been a gathering point for centuries. At the mouth of the Fore River, the Foreside neighborhood has revitalized Portland Co.’s historic building and existing marina and adds modern buildings and outdoor spaces.

This part of Casco Bay presents significant challenges for a facility such as this. It was necessary to consider the long fetch of the northeast winds, the currents of the Fore River, the strong tides, and the poor behavior of the muddy and sloping bottoms. With the help of partners, a wave attenuator and a huge floating breakwater with a connection that cushions the different movements of the two systems in extreme weather conditions were integrated into the project.

The marina was designed with 150-berths ranging from 6 m (20 ft) to 166 m (545 ft), flexible anchoring in more than 7.3 m (24 ft) or water depth with 3 m (10 ft) tidal variations. The gangway to access this fully equipped marina is 2.5 m (8 ft) x 24 m (80 ft) in a single span, with a new and innovative design.

SAVANNAH BOATHOUSE MARINA

SAVANNAH, GEORGIA

Located at the base of the Bull River bridge on Wilmington Island, the Savannah Boathouse is a family-owned marina that offers dry stack storage with 610 li/m (2,000 li/ft) of in-water dock space. It is one of the Freedom Boat Club franchises and a full-service marina serving the Savannahians and transient boaters on the Intracoastal Waterway.

50-berths allows safe and secure mooring for vessels ranging from 9 m (30 ft) to 24 m (80 ft) long.

Two aluminum access gangways join the shore on both sides of a wide service access leading to the maintenance and travel lift in the middle of the marina. The dock, which is anchored on concrete piles is integrated into the structure. The durability of the composite wood decking will allow boaters and to enjoy this marina for years to come.
