BONDED MULTISTRAND SYSTEMS Bonded post-tensioning tendons consist of multiple uncoated prestressing strands – placed in duct and anchorage assemblies. After the strands are tensioned, ducts are injected with a high-performance cementitious grout – permanently bonding the prestressing steel to the surrounding concrete structure. Bonded Multistrand Systems
Bonded multistrand systems are most commonly used in larger concrete members, such as thick slabs and large beams or girders. Benefits of bonded multistrand systems include higher nominal tensile capacity of prestressing steel compared to unbonded, further reductions in mild reinforcement, a highly alkaline corrosion protective encasement of the prestressing steel, transfer of large post-tensioning forces in a more compact manner, labor and material cost savings in large tendon applications, and minimal time to procure materials.
Bonded Slab Systems
Featuring the same benefits as bonded multistrand posttensioning, our bonded slab systems utilize flat ducts to maximize eccentricity of the prestressing and to reinforce slabs as thin as 5". Bonded slab systems allow for future modifications, such as drilling, coring, and openings. When bonded prestressing steel is cut it behaves similar to rebar in that the loss of force is localized. These systems are used in a variety of applications, including parking deck slabs to enhance long-term durability, transfer slabs, containment structures, and bridge decks.
UNBONDED MONOSTRAND SYSTEMS STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES offers an array of anchorages and corrosion protection features for both 0.5” and 0.6” strands allowing great flexibility in meeting design and durability requirements for any application.
Unbonded Monostrand Post-Tensioning
Unbonded monostrand post-tensioning tendons are commonly used as the primary flexural reinforcement in thin concrete slabs, beams, joists, and mat foundations. An unbonded monostrand tendon consists of the prestressing strand with continuously extruded coating and sheathing, and anchorage assemblies. The coating, robust sheathing, and watertight anchorage encapsulation details provide long-term protection in corrosive environments, such as parking structures and building balconies. They are fabricated in our PTI certified manufacturing facilities to ensure quality and minimize installation time.
Shear Reinforcement
Shear rails are a cost-efficient solution to shear transfer at column/ slab connections – eliminating conventional solutions, such as rebar stirrups, column capitals, and drop panels. Our shear rails are fabricated in accordance with applicable industry standards and delivered with our post-tensioning tendons as part of a comprehensive package of products and services for our customers.
Barrier Cable Systems
Barrier cable systems are an efficient solution to meet International Building Code standards for vehicular and pedestrian barrier needs. Our systems feature galvanized 0.5” strands that can be packaged to include design, fabrication and installation of external anchoring devices, cables, wedge sets, and stressing equipment.
STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES, a Structural Group Company, is firmly committed to its ongoing mission of making new and existing structures stronger and last longer.
