UNDERSTANDING SEISMIC ORDINANCES Seismic ordinances, like those in the cities of Los Angeles and Santa Monica, require the retrofit of non-ductile concrete buildings built prior to the 1970s. Many of these buildings were not designed to the standards required to help withstand future seismic events. V-Wrap Carbon & Glass FRP Composite Systems ™
V-Wrap™ FRP systems utilize lightweight, durable, high-strength carbon and glass fibers with 100% solids epoxy to increase or restore seismic load-carrying capacity to structural elements. These systems are advantageous on applications with limited access or complex geometries. V-Wrap™ has ICC-ES evaluation and LARR reports, and has been used on a number of landmark projects in the Bay Area and Southern California. VSL® External Post-Tensioning Systems External Post-Tensioning systems have tendons installed outside the structural element, but may be placed in grouted ducts to improve durability and/or fire resistance.
