Owner: Peter M. Brant | Born: March 1, 1947 | Birthplace: Queens, N.Y. | Residence: New York City

First Win: Fifty Five, Belmont Park, 2017 | Tampa Trainer: Chad Brown

Brant joined an exclusive group last season when his 4-year-old filly Bleecker Street, trained by Chad Brown and ridden by Hector Rafael Diaz, Jr., won the Grade III Endeavour Stakes and the Grade II Hillsborough Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. She is the seventh horse to win both stakes, joining Hall of Fame member Tepin (2016), Cloud Scapes (2014), Old Tune (2013), Zagora (2012), Dreaming of Anna (2008) and Cassydora (2007). Brown also trained Zagora, who later won the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf. Brant was a member of the partnership that owned Swale, who died in 1984 shortly after winning the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes. He bred Thunder Gulch, who won the 1995 Kentucky Derby. The owner – an American industrialist, magazine publisher, film producer and art collector – has had a huge impact on Thoroughbred racing in recent years. In addition to Bleecker Streert, who won the Grade I New York Stakes in late spring, he has campaigned such Grade I winners as In Italian, Gina Romantica, Regal Glory, Blowout and Raging Bull, who won the 2018 Hollywood Derby, the 2020 Shoemaker Mile and the 2021 Maker’s Mark Mile, all Grade I stakes. Brant is the chairman of White Birch Paper and the owner and chairman of Brant Publications, Inc., which publishes Interview magazine, Antiques and Modern. Brant, an accomplished polo player, is married to supermodel Stephanie Seymour.
