strIVngs: New Beginnings

New beginnings is the inaugural concert for strIVngs.

This project started in March 2022, and many of the members are new to playing in a string orchestra, and this afternoon would also be a first time for many of them. Despite having many amateur players in the group, you will still be getting a wholesome experience as our players are fully committed to their music. IV + strings = strIVngs (read: strings) The brainchild of Dwayne, the music director, strIVngs is established to break new boundaries; creating new learning and performing opportunities for adult learners. The programme focused on developing playing and interest, and making learning a string instrument as an adult fun and accessible.

strIVngs provides a friendly, relaxed environment for people to play classical or contemporary chamber music as a small group or full string orchestra. You won’t find any grades here; we learn what we can from each other and support one another through the process of learning an instrument. The group is open to anyone who has had some experience playing an instrument. If you are a complete beginner, fret not, plans for new learners are currently on the way.
