

Care on the In-patient Unit




The In-patient Unit (IPU) is at the hospice in Worcester
It has rooms for patients to stay and be cared for by nurses, doctors, and care assistants
The IPU team gives physical and emotional support to patients and those who care about them.
We also give advice and spiritual support
The IPU team cares for people when their symptoms are making life difficult or they are coming to the end of their lives.

We make sure our patients and their families are well taken care of.
We ensure the wishes of our patients are carried out, wherever possible.
Family and friends can visit patients during their stay on the IPU


Visiting hours are 1200 to 2000 every day
If a visitor needs to visit outside of these times, speak to a member of staff

Pets can visit too as long as we know they are coming and nobody has allergies

At the IPU you will meet nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, catering staff, physiotherapists, complementary therapists, social workers, chaplains, housekeeping staff and care assistants
To find out if you can be supported by the IPU Team speak to your GP, District Nurse, the team caring for you at hospital, or the team caring for you at St Richard’s Hospice

Ask to speak to the Gateway Team, who handle referrals for patients
