The Other Side Programme

Streetz Ahead is a registered charity providing free or low-cost, weekly dance and performing arts classes to young people throughout North London. Our vision is to provide opportunities for children to become physically and mentally fit for life through creative dance, performance, and mentoring programmes.

Streetz Ahead is now funded by The Big Lottery to work with 5 schools in Haringey. This is for Dance Giants - Mentoring through dance. A project which is already working with another 5 schools in Haringey funded by The Mayor of London.

The Other Side Sunday 5th December 2021 @ 1pm & 5pm at The Arts Depot

Synopsis

The BASE

The Other Side is a production of dance and music with 200 children from 12 primary schools. It is to acknowledge and celebrate how children have coped over the last two years. For one day only, the children will come together to share their passion for performance and dance together once again.

Streetz Ahead now have a new programme called The Base – Body and Soul Education. We are currently based at Richard House hospice and starting at some primary schools in the new year.

This new programme will provide primary school children access to whole body education and learning towards becoming mentally and physically fit for life. Through mentoring, therapy, selfcare, mindfulness, movement, dance and meditation, the base will provide preventative and restorative measures in a safe, nurturing, and engaging way.

Thank You ‘The Other Side’ is an adaptation written & directed by Elizabeth Lahav with help from Zak Harry and produced by Olivia Wakeford. Filmed by cinema edits. Our dance teachers this term are Beth, Di’Jon, Eli, Honey, Kimberley Mikey, Nev, Taylor & Zak. Thank you to our dance and performing arts assistants, Kelly & Anna. We would also like to thank all our staff and trustees for coming together through these difficult times to continue working towards providing dance and mentoring for our children.

New Staff We are thrilled to announce that we have appointed Bradley Blanchard who is our Schools Development Officer. Bradley leads The Base project, and he is also our Designated Safeguarding Lead. We also have welcomed four new trainee members of staff; they have been employed through the Kickstarter government initiative programme:
