Straub Builds Places of Worship

WE BUILD PLACES OF Worship

Hi,

we’re Straub Construction.

We build spaces for communities to work, learn, pray and live. We love doing it. Which explains why we’ve done it for more than a century. Back in 1920, Ernest J. Straub, Sr. got to work developing churches, schools and homes in the Mission Hills area of Greater Kansas City.

Today, we carry on his legacy of developing our Kansas City communities through structures that serve others.

Believe in what you build.

Giving back is instilled in who we are.

Giving back to the community is embedded in our DNA. We actively support more than 50 local charities.

We provide materials as well as our project managers, superintendents and laborers to charitable organizations across Greater KC. And we applaud our employees who volunteer to renovate houses, make presentations to student groups, fundraise for special causes, work at food pantries and remain active in their community churches, schools, scout groups and more.

In 2024, we fought to end hunger, poverty, homelessness, and diaper needs in Kansas City.W

During our 2024 Annual Week of Giving, the Straub team impacted

OUR EXPERIENCE

Places of Prayer

As congregations grow or humbly start to sprout, we build churches and places of worship to accommodate members. Open the doors, see all the people.

Since 1920, we’ve worked on over 75 churches in the Kansas City metro. Every church and congregation is unique, and we’ll work passionately to understand your specific needs.

A church is more than a structure, it serves as a platform to help you live your mission.

Journey Church International

Lee’s Summit, MO

Starting in 2011, Pastor Christian Newsome and his wife Danielle led a group of volunteers to transform Summit Lakes Middle School into a place of worship. After 4 years of continual growth, JCI began building their own home.

Now, after over 2,000 spiritual decisions, 350 baptisms, and over $1,000,000 invested into local and global ministry causes, Journey has expanded their home to reach more people. Journey currently has over 500 families in their congregation and reaches 30 countries via online streaming.

The project included a 1,200 seat auditorium with support spaces for A/V production and band, a large atrium/fellowship area, new restrooms, a café, administrative offices, and additional classrooms.

New Construction & Addition

Manna Fellowship Church

Pleasant Hill, MO

Manna Church started in Pastor Rick’s living room. As the congregation grew, they later moved into a rented space. Every year, they experienced significant growth and desired their own facility– a new church to serve their congregation for today and the future.

The pre-engineered facility features offices, classrooms, social spaces, a kitchen and a large multipurpose space that accommodates 590 worshipers.

Christ Community Church Downtown Campus

Kansas City, MO

Christ Community Church had established locations in Shawnee, Leawood, Olathe and Brookside. They wanted to expand their reach into downtown Kansas City, focusing on gathering an intergenerational collection of individuals and families from different communities.

While occupying a leased space in the Crossroads, they began to outgrow their facility. Their search for a space to accommodate their future needs led them to an existing building on 19th Street.

Built in the 1930s, the 2-story 20,000 SF building needed major repair.

Construction included full demo of the 1st floor, a new roof, water main service line, sprinkler and mechanical systems. The space was made ADA accessible with a wheelchair platform and exterior ramp.

St. James Academy Master Plan

Lenexa, KS

Since opening in 2005, St. James Academy has seen significant growth in its student population and needs to upgrade its facilities to support modern learning. Over the past few years, we’ve completed various projects, including a new athletic field, media arts and campus ministry upgrades, renovating the SPARK Center. Our Lady of Ephesus Church

Gower, MO

The Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles called upon Straub to accommodate their growing monastery and community. Praying 3 times a day, the Sisters had a specific vision in mind for their new Abbey – a space that was so architecturally beautiful that it lifts one’s soul.

This new 13,790 SF abbey church features ornate architecture mimicking the historic churches of Europe, boasting hand painted murals, Italian marble, groin vaulted ceilings and splayed windows.

This visionary project also features a museum-quality replica of Independence Hall’s Assembly Room, a symbol of constitutional principles and individual liberty.
