by Shaun Knittel SGN Staff Writer Starting off the weekend with the rainbow flag – the most recognizable symbol of LGBT culture – flying high above the Space Needle, and ending with one amazing celebration after another, it was easy to see that 2010 had the best Gay Pride the city of Seattle has ever seen! This year, for our post-Pride edition, Seattle Gay News rounded up hundreds of photos to showcase just how much fun we all had. We hope you enjoy the photo layouts on the following pages. It’s official: The crowds at nearly every official Pride event and party were bigger and better than last year. The following is a message from Seattle Out and Proud President Eric Gauthier: “On behalf of SO&P, I would like to thank our sponsors, dedicated volunteers, community partners, and participants. the amazing individuals, organizations, corporations, and volunteers who have helped make Seattle Pride 2010 a reality. “On a personal note, I would like to send a sincere thank-you to all of the volunteers that gave their time to produce the annual Seattle Pride Parade and other fun and vital SO&P events throughout the year, especially those serving on the Board of Directors. They are the hardest-working group of individuals I know, and they have earned my deepest respect and gratitude. “One of the highlights of my weekend was being a part of the rainbow Pride flag flying proudly over Seattle’s Space Needle! What a momentous, proud and historical occasion. “We have a lot to celebrate. We’ve come a long way – but we’re not done yet! This has been a truly historic year for the LGBT community. Let’s celebrate everything we’ve accomplished, and our ongoing work in support of LGBT civil rights! Let’s envision an America where LGBT people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest, and safe at home, at work, and in the community. Dream and dream big, be proud of who you are! Thank you for celebrating with us!”
